Tite Machha ( Fish) is one of the unique type of fish found in the fast flowing cold water rivers of Taplejung and Pachthar District. It is very unique fish and popular among local village fishermen.
The local village people does Tite Machha fishing during the monsoon season, while Tite Machha comes suitable upstream water to lay their eggs.
Tite Machha lay eggs during monsoon season, at their secret special place at the huge numbers.
But, the population of this unique Tite Machha is declining every years. Landslides, rivers flooding, construction of hydro dams , inappropriate way of modern fishing ( using electric currents) while fishing, destroying of their suitable eggs laying areas.
Tite Machha is waiting for the popular research, study about their life cycle and it’s habitat.
The conservation of unique fish of Nepal (Tite Machha ) is very important.
