That one big Star Wars nerd Because that was the worst drill I’ve ever seen, even for JROTC. They are a color guard team that didn’t know what they were doing. It’s like playing a sport and not being good at it.
I’m in AJROTC, and at a drill comp, a Marine Gunnery Sergeant came up to me and said “It’s ok, I remember what it was like to be short. I was your height once. I was in second grade.” I died!
Sympathy was something that I was starting to have for this unit. But then they did not deserve sympathy for they were not ready for this and it showed.
Huh same JROTC branch unit and it really looks like the commander was really light on his cadets. My Unarmed Drill commander is annoying but for a good reason. Its for us not to fuck up on anything, Look sharp and be pros.
My ROTC Instructor would strip me alive if I did anything THAT embarrassing. How do you forget the drill sequence? I felt so embarrassed just watching them perform. I wonder who even picked him to be a commander.
Exactly how you forget your drill card bro like you can study it before you go out there I like they take off points even if you use it during drill but he'll he didn't even do anything no oblique no column left no column half left no column Half Light No chain step that is a lot of stuff to be deducted for
@@malcolmsinclair9291 when i was in it you couldnt, we had a 100 command sequence and you had to memorize it that same week, way before comp. My msgt made sure we had our shirt garters so we didn't look like this, and uniforms all equal and clean. Had we performed this badly he would have cancelled the rest of the season
At first i thought the DI was just putting on a show but he now seems literally PIST OFF. “You’re a disaster” God may have mercy on this so called Saber Team.
This is how Drill Instructors are. There was no show about this at all. There would have been a lot more 'attention to detail' if this unit were his at Parris Island or San Diego.
@@seanlewis1011 its not only that, the kids did not have shirt garters, and those shirts looked all baggy. Their uniform looked sloppy, and they all pretty much didn't know how to march. The instructor is supposed know how to march and teach them.
@@sfridisow185 to be fair as someone whos been in jrotc and currently in rotc DI's will be in your face anytime they want. they will be grilling you while youre in line to perform drill. was their team the best? no, but thats why they have so many of these to show improvement and prepare you for what it would actually be like in the military

Again...the marine DI's were loud mouthed brats, as usual! These kids are probably freshmen or sophomores!! None of them will probably go in ANY branch of the military! Jr. ROTC is a joke anyway!! Even MC ROTC is a joke!
old comment but ive noticed that on a lot of drill teams, both good and bad. in fact, at last year's battle for the ball here in A8, the winning Color Guard had a ridiculously slow marching cadence but they basically double timed on the mark time.
After reading all these comments I feel compelled to say something about this video. I would say it is a fact, this team is trash. Now I have never been a team commander but I have been in AFJROTC for 3 years and this commander let alone his whole team were not at all ready for any competition. The issues are very apparent to those who know what to look for so I'll spare those details. I'll just say my take on how this might have happened, I think it's plausible that the quality of cadet generations varies a lot depending on a lot of factors the prime example of this is the team commander who is an officer. Even the lowest scoring officer at my AFJROTC group would be able to drill, dress, and sound off better so I say that since, from how I understand it, officer selection is by candidacy it can produce people who aren't to standard. That being said, this principle can apply to teams as well because maybe in their group they are the best and perhaps thought they could do comp, comparing themselves with their own cadets. Now how the SASI and ASI did not notice this team was completely unprepared for comp escapes me, maybe they prefer a extreme hands off approach which is their choice. All in all this team should have never attempted comp and is generally a VERY bad example of JROTC. I know plenty of other examples of outstanding JROTC cadets that are dragged down by an outlier like this. The usual standard for comp and JROTC in general is much higher than this. Hopefully this particular team improved over the years (this video is 2015 and I'm writing in 2019) and perform better nowadays because in the end that's the goal, to learn.
When someone tells you to yell, you gotta yell. Simple as that, even if the cadet sounds like he's screaming his guts out. If the instructor tells you to yell, you gotta yell as loud as you can.
Andrew Van Lare it doesn’t matter they still suck at drill, they don’t know how to march and they can’t don’t have their hands correctly. Also they don’t even have good arm swing.

@@noco7243 In AF you can halt on any foot. In Army you can halt on any foot. The only groups that mandate what foot you can halt on in the US military are ceremonial units with their own separate drill manuals like the AFHG.

Josef Desiderai i've been in drill for 4 weeks and we are 1,000,0000000 times better than these guys, at one point one of them turned the wrong direction
I am a Cadet SSgt at mcjrotc. I bet you me and other cadets can do much better than them. to be honest these cadets need A LOT of more practice on drill.
This drill was eleven up, three down for sure. The leader of this drill had nearly zero command presence. I think the Drill Instructor scared the shit out of him. He performed like shit so the rest of the team performed like shit. Whomever the team commander is should be screaming at them like a DI to get them accustomed to that so they don't choke like they did here. I will also say that his bearing was top notch. I'd have loved to see the uniform inspection portion of this competition!
At least it wasn't as bad as the drill movements they've show off. Watch the first column movement or that flank where one of the element leader turned at the wrong direction.
Arm swing is 9 to the front 6 to the rear. I see 0 to the front and 0 to the rear.......No movement of the sabor during marching.......Left and Right Flanks were called and implemented on the wrong step......Lastly, a lot of minor mistakes. Pants are too short...... overall performance really bad
their cadence changed so much from marching to marktime.the commander moved so much at the position of attention. They dont look like they practice at all. Uniforms look sloppy. Its a 24 inch step not a 5 inch for Marching.that one girl didn't know what she was doing at all for columns to the left at the beginning made her own element.
That was literally like watching a horrific pileup accident in slow motion. You know that it’s terrible and yet you can’t keep your eyes off of it. This going to be a “how not to” video for my Cadets. Terrible all around.

@@donmcc6573 I get that DIs are meant to do that at boot camp but for competitions, or at least the ones I’m used to(Navy JROTC), they usually don’t act like this but I guess it depends on the competition. Also, my apologies for the misunderstanding about your original statement
The SASI and ASI of their AFJROTC unit should be ashamed that they put this "team" out there to be slaughtered by that DI. They dont even have uniformity in appearance.
Just wondering if this is totally necessary with the judge? Do the cadet's instructors even care how their cadets are treated? Not too sure Cadet Command is aware of situations like these. Just wondering what the judge was getting at.
I understand the purpose of military bearing but wtf he was so rude, most of these cadets were terrified before he even said anything, and these people are literally 15-17 years old that is unnecessary wtf
Where’s their scabbard? Why does a third of the team have cords and honor guard caps? Where are their ribbons? Why are his pants so low? Why is his shirt so big? Why are they putting the saber on their arm and not on their damn shoulder? Why are they presenting like a princess? Why are they off step? I though saber team what’s an honor guard not a damn joke, disappointing
I understand the test of military bearing, however, there a level of military bearing that judges should maintain by the virtue of being professional soldiers. I have been a soldier for 34 years, judged many teams over the years and I have never found it necessary to lose military bearing.
