Thank you for your video. For those who are unaware, the name Nephrite is derived from the Latin name Lapis Nephriticus which means stone for the kidney. Its Spanish name is piedra de ijada which gave rise to the name Jadeite. In olden days some cultures believed that jadeite or nephrite could alleviate pain from the kidneys. It was not until 1863 that French mineralogist Augustin Alexis Damour identified the differences between Jadeite from Nephrite as two separate minerals. The Maori in New Zealand used Nephrite which they call Pounamu to make adzes called toki, war clubs called mere and amulets called hei tiki and hei matau.
Correction: Jadeite can also be found in New Zealand, Canada, Taiwan, Japan, Guatamala, Guyana, Surinam, Russia, and Kazakhstan although the best gem quality stones come from Myanmar.
Very small amounts can also be found at two Mountains in the European Alps ;-) Monte Viso and Monte Beigua. But in quality, as well as in quantity, Myanmar is by far the main source.
Real jadeite can also come from China, Russia (like it or not Russia has a lot of good stuff) and even British Columbia, Canada. And it may even be found in a few other places. Myanmar mines 70% of Earth's jadeite. And by the way, Suzhou in Eastern China's Jiangsu province is known as the place where the greatest jade carvers come from. Every year they have a show. The jade cultural festival usually starts around Remembrance Day.

I like the way you showed the difference between jadeite & nephrite, as even though I have a large collection of both from various parts of the world, it is still confusing. I prefer jadeite. I have several segment colored nephrite bracelets, bc that was what was available to me at the time. However, I will only wear untreated jadeite green rings, as rings are just personal to me. I have several green Chinese type A jadeite gold pendants that I got 25 years ago.
I will look for other videos by you bc I love the clear & simple delivery & the way you show examples, w/o making it overly complicated. I know jade is complicated. Would you consider doing a video on types A, B, C, & B+C jadeite? & do you think it's ever ok to buy treated jadeite? Great job & thank you!
