@@Dadified86 - Thanks. I had a hard time finding these on Amazon. Do you think it's because they are still relatively new? The local Walmart has them. Maybe Amazon is downplaying other blasters to boost their exclusive model. 😉

I'll be doing a mod guide on one of these when the parts arrive. There are several techniques of varying difficulty you can use to increase the performance of these blasters that I want to share, so that'll be coming before the spring hits.

@@MichaelJohnson-jp8bd To my knowledge there's no "mod kit" for these. Most of the modifications are home-made or 3D Printed by fellow modders. Jump on the Lazer Tag Modders Facebook Page for info on what's out there for them.

@@Dadified86 Do these have invincibility while shooting?

I suspect it wasn't designed with STM (or whichever team deals with the LazerTag brand internally) so they couldn't make it compatible due to patents.

@@cabe_bedlam It is worse than that.. they cut out STM so they did not have to pay them. They went cheap and it shows

So that people would be forced to buy into the new product?

@@TheMiscPile Kinda... but mostly to be cheap. They wanted a price point they just could not get with a Shoot the Moon design. But the whole thing is just weird to me. it is almost like someone went out of their way to make a poor product...hmmmmmm

You can still buy the Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX on Amazon. They're a favorite of mine, do not rely on any type of Smartphone, are rugged and solid, and serve as the backbone of my 24-blaster armory that I use for parties and games.

They worked a month or so ago when I played. Wasn't aware of the June 30th app thing, but it seemed to work fine when we used them in the fall. The older LTTO gear will give you scoring readouts but I always found the Hosting a little finnicky to work with, at least for the initial setup. Scoring was never something I was really that interested in anyways. Whenever I was done with a game I just wanted to get another one going! Haha

I’ve been using the app every week as me and my friends get together for weekly laser tag. Only issue we’ve come across is an iPhone can’t join a game created by an android phone but it works the other way around. If everyone playing has the app gameplay is increased significantly especially if the blasters are leveled up to at least lvl 14.

I've been answering questions and such on my existing videos as I can, but I haven't really done much with Nerf or Laser Tag since my son was born. Tie in the pandemic and social distancing and it's been tough to get anything going these days! Someday I'll resume work but in the meantime, I'll try to help! I don't have experience with the products you linked in your inquiry. From the looks of it, it's a commercial laser tag company based out of Estonia for the last 15 years. I didn't look at pricing or anything like that, but this looks like the sort of stuff you see at indoor laser tag complex businesses. The BRX is geared more towards a high-end home system. Have you found independent reviews of their gear?

Those were my initial gripes as well. However, from a cost perspective and to stay competitive with the current offering on store shelves, it does quite well. It's range is shorter than the previous LTTO and LTX gear, but it outshines the Laser X gear pretty easily. It does use an App, but it's not 100% Dependent on it like RECOIL. When compared to the older Lazer Tag gear, it's not as good. But when compared to what's on shelves now, it's what I'd pick.

Thanks for watching! I've been admittedly busy with being a new dad and, while I've still managed to host a few games here and here, I haven't been making any new content since there's really nothing new on my end to contribute at this time. As for Laser Ops PRO vs the BRX, that's quite the gap in capabilities and price. Accuracy is fine on the Nerf system and range is still pretty good. I'm surprised the range isn't better, but given that other shelf-bought systems don't offer much more, expect about 200-300 feet reliably from the Nerf system. BRX is a quantum-leap up in performance, abilities, and build quality... not to mention that they're just bigger and heftier than the Nerf system. I don't really see the BRX being a good system for younger kids personally. Seems to be geared more towards a more serious older buyer. That same company IS coming out with a new system called the "EVOLVER" that might be a good middleground between the two systems you're considering. They're getting released next month and it looks like a good system. More expensive than Nerf but not as expensive as BRX with swappable "skins" you can change blaster formats with. Definitely an interesting looking system.

@@Dadified86 ok, you got me thinking. Do you know anyone who has done a drop in replacement of the IR emitter for an IR laser module? I think that is doable mod. Modulating a laser isn’t difficult. If you search my videos, you can find where I have done similar. That would essentially give the laser ops the range of a BRX. I might give it a shot, no pun intended.

@@garfish307 I don't know personally of anyone who had done that, but I honestly hadn't looked. I've always just upgraded the optics of the IR emitter for better range. The flat-front of the Laser Ops blaster design makes it easy to bolt on bigger better lens arrangements to get more magnification and range out of the standard IR emitter. If you find the LTAR Modulus, LTX DMR, or "Ultimate LTX" on my channel, you'll see a good example of what I mean.

Nerf/Laser Tag has taken a bit of a back seat recently. Had my first kid less than two weeks ago and lots of home projects over the summer to prepare for that.
