Slam-fire is when the trigger is held down and the priming action (such as the grip on the Pyragon or a Rough Cut 2x4's pump grip) is pulled back and forth rapidly for rapid firing. I believe this was based on the Winchester Model 1987's (unintentional) ability to do this.

^ this. If a blaster has "Slam Fire," it basically just means that you can do a much higher rate of fire but lose accuracy and power while doing so. You just hold the trigger and rack the action repeatedly so you quickly prime then fire the ammo very quickly. Similar to fanning a revolver.

I know this is 8 years late, and I'm not an expert by any means, but from my childhood experience, the pyragon is WAY better. The hailfire is super inaccurate and jams, although it can be modded more easily and can have up to 144 ammo if equipped with 22 round clips. The (stock) pyragon is significantly more accurate than the hailfire, while also firing more quickly (if I remember correctly), and the way that the vortex discs bounce can make it incredibly powerful in an indoor nerf war, and it fully reloads relatively fast compared to the hailfire. The hailfire also has a pretty extreme tendency to jam from my experience, whereas the pyragon seems more reliable. Now, it is important to keep in mind some of the advantages of the hailfire, such as EXTREMELY high potential ammo capacity, better ease of modding, ability to use multiple types of darts, and ability to carry extra clips with you, which may give a modded one a competetive edge. However, its low rate of fire and absolutely abysmal accuracy make it very poor at fulfilling its main purpose of suppressive fire, which the pyragon is much, much better at in my experience. So pretty much, pyragon for indoor games, hailfire for outdoor. Sorry for this barely comprehensible essay btw, just take everything I say with a grain of salt.
