Metroid is one I tried many times to get into as a kid and was always lost. I bought Zero Mission on the Wii U before the store shut down in hopes of getting into it but have yet to take that step. Ninja Gaiden is one I loathed because of the difficulty but as of this year I actually beat the first two on the NES and see them differently. I love the touch of dying at the end of each game's segment lol
Very interesting topic! I feel that way about Castlevania. I've tried to get into the series, but it just won't stick. I do like the original Metroid, but it took a while for me to warm up to it.
The Guardian Legend is one that I wish I liked. Everyone praises it and it's always on hidden gems list but I've never been able to get into it. Metroid can be tough to go back to. There are hacks that allow you to save and use an in game map which does help. Metal Storm is another one I just think is ok. The Stage 1 theme is super catchy though.
I think it's perfect okay to not like whatever you don't like. I absolutely loathe Super Mario 64 and while we're at it, I TRIED playing BOTW for 5 hours and I just couldn't therefore I never even bothered with TOTK.
I don't like Metroid, Ninja Gaiden or Legend of Zelda or Contra on the Nes. But I adore Super Metroid and A Link to the Past because they corrected all defaults in the gameplay...
I Loved the Bucky O' Hare Cartoon. I was never Great at the Game though. I had it but like I died so many Times I felt like I was actually Unlearning how to play it. But the thing I loved Most about Bucky O' Hare were the Action Figures. Damn those were awesome. The Cartoon Had an Environmental Bend to it but it wasn't super Preachy like Capitan Planet was. The Toads were trying to Change Bucky O' Hare's Home planet to a Swamp Planet so the Toads could take it over and Live on it. But their Leader was an Air Marshal. who Led their Armies and took his Orders from a Sentient A.I. that presented itself as a Toad Face on a Computer. I was a pretty big Fan. also I was so disappointed By the Capitan Planet Game. Oh here's a Good one I don't much Care for Tetris. I mean it's Okay but the Game just doesn't hold my attention for very Long you know.
never got through metroid. i cant remember where but i get completely stuck at one point. doesnt interest me enough to complete lol. interesting list. bucky o hare once i get to the Cell after the planets i get destroyed but i have a helluva time before then.
I LOVE startropics but I get it. I never got into the mega man games.... A lot of my opinions where formed from rentals in the late 80s early nineties. Its a cool time to be alive now with emulation. A lot of games to check out
@@RonManGaming VI and VII are my favorites and I think most people enjoy those two in the series the most, but I stopped playing them with X. It was so bad, and I really have no idea why it gets praised so heavily.
Bucky o hare is mid as heck, and I know only like Metroid because I had it as a kid. Everything looks the same and it's not fun to explore like in zelda. You're crazy about Metal Storm though, it's ugly as hell for sure, but it's a fantastic game!
Ha. The first one that comes to mind for me, too, was Metroid. You say these are "pretty good." I don't think Metroid is good, for two reasons: No map, and no save function. BTW, this has been fixed on hacked Metroid roms. I like Ninja Gaiden. I got to the last level once, and the respawn points (after death) were so far apart, the last boss, makes it a no replay for me. I'm not with you on Contra. Then again, I had it as a kid, and put in numerous hours. I can complete the game without the konami code.
Hey Ron I decide to watch this again. I don't Like Undertale. It's Not a Retro Game Per say but I just can't get into it at all. My Brain is programed to play The Game in exactly the Opposite way of the way Undertale wants you to play it.
I don't think you explained why you would want to like these games more. Is it because you could have more positive discussions about the game with fellow gamers?
I want to like them because it's always more fun to enjoy games rather than not. I recognize the quality in these titles, I just wish I felt joy while experiencing them lol.
@@RonManGaming I think you just defined preference. If anyone holds that against you, it's their problem. I've heard some reports about how people are now spinning romantic preference as racist. We live in nonsensical times. Anyways, I enjoy the vids as they keep a good dialogue going between gamers. I fear the last few years has led to a decline of the interest in retro--at least retro pre-2000. I'll see how I feel about it in a year.
YOU DON'T LIKE CONTRA!!! UNSUBSCRIBED!!! XD BTW have you tried the Bucky O'hare arcade game? Its a 4 player beat'em up with guns. Also, just play Metroid Zero Mission.
man i understand that u played these games very late not in the 90's thats why u dont like them at all, is not the same to play them when they look dated and old. Bucky , contra and metal storm where really great games back in time (as rents) for example i played Bucky ohare and beat it like 12 hours later of non stop dying :D and metal storm was such and amazing challegue the second round. u should try the japanese version is similar but for some reason the collor pallete is different. contra is a classic is a game that everyone likes. in the other hand i cannot stand NES metroid even in the 80's horrible game i really step into metroid in the snes, in the case of Ninja gaiden my first one was NG2 and then NG1, i feel the same way, 2 was way better on any gameplay aspect.
Yeah It's funny how I never actually played these games as a kid but there are many other titles that I now love but only discovered in my 20's. Maybe one day I'll appreciate these games more lol.
@@thepolacek then never play a real tabletop rpg.... drawing the map yourself brings you more into the game. if you were in that situation you would need to draw a map... right? or would god make it appear in your drop down menu???
