If it wasn't for all the Engrish, I would have thought this was an official port. And this is also very impressive for NES standards on it's own, never mind bootleg NES standards!
this seria of the game was so rare i was the lucky one to achived and thanksfully after decades i can finally see how this game end !!! the harder Contra game EVER MADE
IDK why they called it "Contra Spirits" when it's definitely "Contra: Alien Wars". I'd say this Contra is inferior to the original Contra and Super C for NES, but it's still not a bad 8 bit port of Alien Wars. Coulda did better with the music more like the Gameboy version though
I'm honestly surprised at the level of effort that went into this! Yeah, the music's barely there, the first overhead stage is missing the boss and the second overhead stage is just gone, but the parts they did try to replicate are pretty close to the original. Also, it's pretty hilarious that a bootleg port did a better job of keeping at least one overhead stage than the official GBA port.
i grew up with this game. i never knew its a copy transport to nes from snes. I really thought its an original game! then i come to US to find out haha. How deceiving tho, this game is AMAZING! I played the Snes version since and I hate it because its super ACTION onslaught of enemies blah blah not my cup of tea. The nes version stands out to this day as some kind of a survival horror. Much dread and slow paced action, love it!!!
Its definitely based off of the gameboy version of contra 3 , and it's kinda impressive how faithful the bootleggers ported contra 3 , even with the fake rotating sticks in stage 2 , of course they didn't put in the top down stages, and the music is awful
that is just sad. The NES could pull off Contra 3 just fine. Hell! The Game Boy version pulled it off well, and the Game Boy is basically a Portable NES.
Hummer Team, as I remember. But I wouldn't be surprised if it would actually be some Chengdu Tai Jing Da Dong Computer Co (this company is actually real) Edit: as I googled, Chengdu Tai Jing Da Dong Computer Co actually made Super Contra X. So my guess is that Hummer Team were responsible for this monstrosity
@@justdenys1421 While on the topic is it me or has anyone else noticed how hummer team had a habit of using the most ugly colors imaginable in a lot of there games?
@@shakeyframe2330 I think they just trying to copy every single piece, without really understanding how it was done originally, so they fall under NES' limitations and it becomes ugly as hell
@@justdenys1421 Then how did Aladdin look alright ? This game looks alright to. But oh man, the music makes me want to shove railroad picks into my ears. Hummer Team wasn't good at programming alot of the time.
@@shakeyframe2330 honestly, i have no idea. maybe they hired more talanted people, maybe just making demake of this one was easier. at least, it's the best nes demake of Aladdin on NES. There also was one, made by Super Game, but they ported the Genesis game, and it has like 4 levels, and it ends at Rug Ride (which is called Rug Rid there). But at least, by graphics and such, it's much superiour even than official Aladdin port (As I know, they also made Lion King port, which also didn't have all of levels, but at least it ended where it was supposed to be, and also was much better than official port)
