Omg. I actually cried when I heard & watched this. U have no idea. I got this game in highschool & it put me RIGHT BACK to the days I used to play with my twin sister one year all summer. Such a great memory. So strange how music can make ur brain remember a time so vividly.
This is by far the most nostalgic game from my childhood. I really wish they would have done more with it. I never bothered with the release on 3DS because it just looks like they slapped the characters on top of a completely different game. I wish there was a way for them to return to this in today's world.
it was the same feeling i got, if we played this game now we would struggle a lot, the older games were very difficult these modern games from about 1994 onwards were made less challenging and more fun, ghost n goblins is the hardest game of all time, 3 lives a timer and no continues and harder than frozen chuck Norris ball bags
This game deserved more respect and attention than it got, overshadowed by Mario and Zelda. It is a very well-designed game and loads of fun (and Reinhard Klinksiek makes it look WAY easier than it actually is!)
@@DanielSong39so why only one Game Boy sequel? No Super Nintendo version? No spin offs? He didn't get another game til the Wii and had to cameo in Smash Bros first.
@@Bloodstar6078 Not sure but a SNES version would have been cool! Probably would have been similar to Super Metroid and Super Ghosts 'N Goblins The key would have been to get the vertical scrolling levels right and that would have been a tough ask
Always loved this game but I was so bad at it. This is fun to watch because after almost 30 years, I FINALLY get to see what these other levels consisted of...lol! There's no way I could have EVER beat this game! Thanks for posting this. Very enjoyable to watch.
I wonder if there's a moment in Uprising in which Pit goes something like "Boy, that was one heck of a kiss back then." and creates a massively awkward moment between him and Palutena. XD
@@mr.battle20 I’m not sure when or why that happens. I got the score up to 3 million + without raised prices and then something crapped out and wouldn’t return to where I left off. Since then I’ve started it again and the first time beating it, I encountered the pissed off seller, raising prices astronomically.
The "empty rooms" are where you get the arrow upgrades. To get one, you need a score of 10000 or higher. There are 5 total arrows. Normal (the ones you start with), Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. There's at least one in each world, but, you get the first upgrade in 1-2, and there's actually 2 upgrades in 2-1. And your last ones will either come in 2-2 or 3-1. Hope that helps.
This play through alone elevates you to the status of a gamer god. I once beat a Kid Icarus game, with a hammer on the side of the street ,until it was nothing but scraps of silicone and plastic.
The only problem I remember having was the Egg Plant dudes. I never had skills like this but manaed to make my way through. But those egg plant dudes- they messed me up in every boss level.
@@retrogameroom9019 Yep. That one made you invincible and started you on the last stage. There was also "ICARUS FIGHTS MEDUSA ANGELS" which started you in the 2nd dungeon, with invincibility that lasted until around the final dungeon, I believe.
You are the king! We drank a couple beers watching you own this game remembering when we were kids how much we hated the eggplant kings..... good show!!!
truly a master piece. music was amazing , gameplay challenging and fun if you get good at it. but wow just the music and the vibes from this game are amazing , thank you for this.
@@disdain9727 Its far from the hardest game on the NES though. This one, at least, had infinite lives and more than 1-2 hit points of health. Try Silversurfer, Ghosts n Goblins, and most of the Capcom games.
John Kitteral probably the most frustrating game ever made. Everyone grew up with it, so it gets heavy nostalgia points...but my god, this game is the very definition of frustration and “nes hard”. Lots of bad memories mixed with good memories, to be honest.
I came back here from the fantastic Mario movie to drop this tiny spoiler down below Mario was actually playing kid Icarus on his nes console. I loved that so much.
I never knew until watching this video that you used the hammers to break the angels out of the statues so they could fight the boss with you at the end of the level. Great Playthrough!
i remember getting so mad when the thieves came. and i remember trying for hours trying to beat Pandora. you breezed through the hardest parts. it was fun to watch. thanks.
It's like a movie when someone rips thru a game uninterrupted. This game especially cause it's so linear with the story how he slowly matures and gets more powerful, and the enemies get harder. Really amazing game for 1986. What was the Atari cooking 3 years earlier, burgertime? Lol the nes was a watershed moment.
This game had some of the greatest music and sound effects of the time. I mastered this game in '87, enjoyed it another few months then sold it to a kid down the street for $25...
Pit: We did it! We really did it! Palutena: Congratulations! I know it wasn't always easy! Pit: Aww, but it was so worth it! With the world at peace again, even the sun feels warmer! Palutena: Awwww you're so cute Pit! Ahahahahaha ???: NOW WAIT JUST A SECOND!!! Pit: Huh? Palutena: Did you hear something? ???: I SAID WAIT JUST A SECOND! Pit: You've got to be hearing things! ???: HAHAHAHAHA! *rips credits screen* Palutena: HADES?! Pit: Who's Hades?! Palutena: The TRUE master of the Underworld! Hades: Sorry to keep YOU waiting, but now that I'm here, let's get this party STARTED! Welcome to MY Underworld Pitty Pat! You too pretty Palutena! Palutena: Err...I'm afraid we don't have time to grant you an audience now do we Pit? Pit: No I want to go out for ice cream sundaes! Aww man am I ever in the mood for one! Hades: WAIT! YOU CAN'T DENY ME SCREEN TIME! NOW THAT MEDUSA'S OUT OF THE PICTU- *True End Credits Play* Pit: So what's Hade's deal Lady Palutena? Palutena: Who knows. I doubt he'll ever pop up again though. Its best we just forget that ever happened.
This was a great nostalgia run. I played this game a lot and finished it to the end. I didn't consider it to be hard, maybe it is because I enjoyed it so much.
Okay. That's why I couldn't get the last arrow upgrade. Thank you. I got to 5 blocks of health but not all of the arrows. Though this game is quite difficult, but once you have all of the weapon upgrades than this game becomes a bit more easier.
That's exactly what this game is about. Actually the first two levels are hardest, but as he matures and you power up it gets much easier. The last stage is the easiest.
@PootieWienerfish I KNOW RIGHT? I didnt even know they had THAT relationship I thought Palutena was just Pit's commander! Well, think of it.... In Super Mario land, Mario loves Daisy, but he's been in love with Peach ever since! But still, Pit and Palutena look pretty cute together. I wish they remembered. Stupid Nintendo Timeline.
@@frankybellz9414 any dude that names himself beautiful already lost the argument... Second, I was never mad...I just said "Yes, It is" because I disagree with the guys comment
Remember being a kid and beating a Nintendo game, and you'd see these weird names scrolling by "Mr Haigo, NapaNapa, Furo" etc and wondering if they even took their jobs seriously.
This game is da BOMB. Back then I cheated by using password," ICARUS FIGHTS MEDUSA ANGELS.. Now I know the game so well, I can play with only 1 power up
Wow, didn't know that code! What does it give you? There is one: DANGER !!!!!! HORROR TERROR or the two last words are swapped. It starts you at the last level with the second strength upgrade, but you can't upgrade further once you beat Medusa and restart the game ^^ It's a weird one.
