I had a gen 1 and 2 outdoor cams. Upgraded to this doorbell and was disappointed with the app. The nest app would show all my cams live when opened. The google home app doesn’t do that. And requires a touch to the doorbell to see live unlike the nest app. Now I have 2 cams live on nest app & doorbell an extra touch away. Hope they can fix that
I thought this was an upgrade to the 'nest Hello' not the 'nest battery' it just looks the same as the 'nest battery' but its actually the 2nd gen version of the 'nest Hello'?
Yes but did google get rid of the cold weather issue? Meaning the camera stopped working when it gets below -4 degrees? Literally people that own this product are having this issue everywhere.
Thanks for a great video. At 6:17 your screen shows a Calendar you clicked on and them tapped on a day. I am Trialing Aware for 30 days and don't have that Calendar. Maybe only with the Paid Subscription? Thanks-- On an iPhone with latest iOS and Google Home. Wired 2nd Gen doorbell, not battery--
We have a bunch of existing Nest cameras and use the Nest app - if I get this doorbell can I add my other Nest cams to Google home so I dont have to use two apps?
Do you recommend the 1st or 2nd generation? (Given the trade offs you mentioned) I am seeing the wired 1st gen on sale now for around $100. Currently do not have a video doorbell And can either generation detect differences of cars?
In terms of video quality the 1st Gen Battery Powered: amzn.to/3WA8gqD and 2nd Gen Wired: amzn.to/3WCX7Wi are very close. The biggest difference is that the 1st Gen will only record once motion is detected where the 2nd gen can have 24/7 continuous recording even if motion is not detected if you pay for the monthly subscription. The 2nd Generation also must be hardwired where as the 1st gen can run on batteries or be hardwired.
The 1st gen wired has a better camera (it also has HDR) and wider aspect ratio. The 2nd gen has better HDR, but it's hampered by its lower resolution to notice the difference. The newer one can recognize the difference of a larger amount of things. It can also save some footage without the cloud, while gen 1 can't.
Don't buy this 2nd g doorbell. It no longer alerts your phone with the doorbell sound. Only a typical readable notification is given with whatever audible sound you assign for all notifications. The Gen 1 has its own notification doorbell alert. When streaming to Google they have no clue this is missing. This defeats the purpose of a smart doorbell
Dose continuous video recording ( 24/7 video history) have audio too? After 10 days of 24/7 recording with the upgraded subscription, dose it start with another 10 days of 24/7 recording? And do you know how much more it would be for a second camera with upgraded subscription with 24/7 recording? Thanks.
