We took an old kiddie pool and cut the sides down so it's about 2 inches tall. Filled it with water and put lettuce, cabbage, weeds, mustard greens, collards and cauliflower leaves from our garden and put them in the shallow pool. The hens are loving it. It's so funny to watch them walk in the water, but it's keeping them cool during this heat wave. We use washed construction sand in our coop as well as the nest boxes. It's so much cheaper and the eggs stay clean, but you do sometimes just have to wipe some of the sand off the eggs.
Hello Senior. I am so glad to see you are doing ok. I will try to keep up with your videos. The chickens look so healthy. I love your plants they are beautiful.
Good day Aix. I've been wondering what you were up to these days. Things are well on the homestead. Now is growing season up here and the garden is doing great. One groundhog started to eat some of my plants. Will be installing a short wire fence around my deer fence to keep it out. Hope all is well.
You take great care of those chickens, Ovi! That is nice to see. Yes! 95°. I have been grading bus terminals in my skid steer with the heat on! It overheats. Headed to the last terminal tomorrow in Scotia. Stay cool Ovi.
No pecking. The problem is that this one hen is the rooster's favorite and he mates with her several times a day. He has long spurs and each time he pulls a feather. He's got nine other choices but this one poor hen is the favorite. I do have a solution for that in a future video.
