Robust, actionable data is needed to support decarbonisation efforts and transition financing. For this to happen, technology needs to be better harnessed to streamline the collection and access of high quality data to all stakeholders.
On these broad principles, we are agreed. But how do we enable coherent and consistent flows of data across borders, in the face of the endemic fragmentation and quality inconsistencies we face today? Does the answer lie in enhancing existing private platforms, or collaborating with the public sector to birth new initiatives? What are the prospects of regional or even global platforms for all parties to access data? And, going back to first principles - is the data worth the effort, or are efforts better spent elsewhere?
