China just united all Palestinian groups to form a united Palestinian gov't last week and will push for the two state solution. Isr doesn't want to settle with the two state solution. May be the world should push for the one Palestine state solution. No way I will agree for a one Isr state which is what Isr wants.
I am reminded of the exceptional book by historian Barbara Tuchman, "The Guns of August", in which she lays out the blind, stupid, headlong march of world leaders that led to the First World War. President John F. Kennedy noted this and referred his staff and cabinet to it during the Cuban Missile Crisis. It seem the similarities to the current moment are to prescient to ignore. It feels like the world is marching headlong into something potentially worse than WW I. Recall the words of George Santayana, "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it".
The world's a stage. It's all orchestrated acts to acquire power, control, and resources. On top of this, at 18 years old, I saw and was followed home by extraterrestrials. Yes, it was embarrassing, it was stupid, arrogant, cheering on the top dog, with no regard for the down dogs, the lives of the oppressed. More I can’t write, it gets cancelled. Hannah Arendt, a German-American historian, psychologist and philosopher, shocked many with her analysis of Otto Adolf Eichmann, a major organizer of the Holocaust. Her conclusion was that immense harm is perpetrated by individuals driven solely by concern for their own advancement. For such people, personal elevation is the ultimate priority, rendering others irrelevant except to serve them. Arendt said this selfishness is common. She called it "the banality of evil." She argued that Eichmann’s actions were not motivated by hatred but solely by self-importance. Enter Netanyahu et al.
This is exactly correct. But what incredible suffering and destruction one such person can cause. And what is incredible is the support and dedication they get from so many sheep hanging on their every word and enabling their heinous crimes. It’s shocking.
@@chilli_bean_23 So true. In his book 'Catch and Kill,' Ronan Farrow writes about the dozens of co-conspirators who knew about the sexual abuses of their powerful boss but said nothing. As Arendt would say these anonymous accomplices were driven by concern for their own advancement, job security, etc. etc. The protection of the vulnerable women was less valued.
The key point here is not that Netanyahu is some tyrant acting on his own whims, but that the overwhelming majority of that lunatic population support all of this.
