Just a quick demo of the Netatmo Thermostat.
I used to have the Owl, which was good, but my wife did not like having no display on the wall unit, so I replaced it with this one.
I have to say I am impressed with the simplicity of it, very intuitive and easy to install, I drilled 4 holes and connected two wires. Simple!
I highly recommend.

thanks for posting this video by the way. I have been searching for a video review of this in English and it looks like yours is the only one so thanks

I’ve just ordered one. I’m sick of my 2nd generation Nest losing connection to the relay unit and leaving us freezing! Looking forward to having something elegant and simple that just works, plus HomeKit compatibility.

Hey Michael, wow this is good to read, I thought the Nest was the best one! This is a much more basic wall device, I have to say it’s never lost its connection though. Also it is linked to my netatmo weather station so it adjusts heating according to the outside sensor....

Alex Yallop basic usually means better in my book. When I got the Nest, it was pretty much the only option out there. I like simplicity.

Hi! thanks so much for posting this! We have had this system installed in our house via a grant, meaning we "just got it" but knew nothing of it, so its been a bit of trial and error. Your video certainly simplified the system. Our system, the wifi relay is wired in to the main boiler, and the only question I have is this.... What temp do you set the tank/boiler/heating unit to. We found the thermostat kept switching off, but ti think thats because the thermostat was set to (a room temp) of 30/MAX while the actual boiler was set to 25.. Would I be right in saying that it would be best to keep the boiler unit at say 40 deg or thereabouts and then use the app/thermostat to achieve a max of 30 deg room temp..... or to put it another way, if the tank is set to 40 deg, and you turn the thermostat off, it will over ride the "main" tank temp setting.... We had 3 weeks of doing it manually, & then they installed the wireless control, confusing us no end..... can you clear this up for me, & believe me, 30 odd households will be most appreciative!!! Thank you once again for posting this!

+Jim D I am not sure I fully understand your setup. There are settings on how hot your boiler runs, those I can't comment on as you could break your boiler without proper advice. So if I am correct, you have a wife wall thermostat at the moment, and the wifi receiver is under the boiler?

Hi Alex.... Sorry for not getting back sooner but after I posted, it seemed to sort itself out.... kind of! yes you are right. our relay is wired to the tank as opposed to being plugged into a socket. At the moment however, the heating schedule has a mind of its own. the tank (heating) temp is set at 40deg. and the schedule is basically 19deg overnight 12 deg through the day & 25 deg from 4pm/11 pm. however each morning about 8 am it kicks into comfort (set at 25) and I have to manually set the daytime temp till 4pm. have you any idea why it would be running at the comfort setting when it's not scheduled to do so?

I think possibly your unit is faulty or something else in your circuit is turning on your heating, email Netatmo and I think they can access your logs to see what is going on, their email support is slow, but effective, they will help you.... All the best mate, let me know how you get on

Hi, Can you tell me did you also have a central heating programmer originally that used to control your heating / hot water. and if so do you just set the central heating side of it to constantly 'on' thus leaving the Netatmo to act as the programmer for the heating? Thanks
@MrPantss
@MrPantss 10 лет назад
Hi, mine was just heating side, so only 2 wires behind it, not sure what you need to do if you have hot water as well

Hi Alex just had the Netatmo thermostat installed and watched your video and found it very informative and now i have only one issue with the app.. Ok i set my schedule up a couple of days ago but doesn't seem to work so am wondering if somewhere on the app is there a button i need to press ''for example a button which will apply my schedule'' which will then instruct the thermostat to follow my schedule or am i missing something obvious to input my schedule into the thermostat, thanks Mark?

Hi Mark, when you say it’s not working, what is happening?

Thanks for replying Alex. Ok the heating is continuously set on 12 degrees and the only way it changes is when i press the up button on the thermostat or go through the app and up the degree's there for example to 21 for a couple of hours...........after that it returns to 12 degrees.... and no sign of my set schedule kicking in??

hi, thanks for the video. i've just installed one and it appears on the box that the surround should light up with whichever colour backing you choose when installing - but it doesn't. does yours? i find that coloured sticker useless if it doesn't have any way of lighting it up..
@MrPantss
@MrPantss 8 лет назад
Yes I should have mentioned that in the video, no it does not light up. I guess the colour cards are to contrast against any decor you have, as you can see on mine I did not use it. Did you get the HomeKit edition?

I know you already had a thermostat in the room, but I'm just wondering: how do you decide which room to site it? I'd like to site one of these in the hall too, but our hall is on the north side of the house, so it's a lot cooler than say the lounge (which is on the south side). Might we end up with a very hot lounge?!
@MrPantss
@MrPantss 9 лет назад
Yes siting it can be hard to get right. What I have done as my hallway is the coldest part of the house is put thermostats on the radiator in the lounge, so the hall still warms up but once the lounge is up to temp the radiator thermostat then takes over for the room.

Can you help pleaseI seem to be having trouble with my room thermostat it is constantly 10 degrees higher then the room is actual temperature I recently had a new boiler installed I don't know if this is causing a problem from the old settings so the room temperature is actually 15 degrees but the thermostat shows 25 when I adjust the thermostat to 26 the boiler will come on and heat the room the relay is wired into the boiler which is in the Attic we had no problems in the past could you please advise what the issue may be whether the thermostat is faulty or something else.
@MrPantss
@MrPantss 6 лет назад
Alan Hi, yes what you can try is the force temperature offset setting. So on the app on your phone click on the cog top left corner, then select manage my home, select Home Thermostat, then select True Temperature, then you can add or take off temperature to suit the room.... hope this helps 🙂👍

Thanks for posting your video which is very helpful. November 2015 Which? magazine rates the Netatmo as a best buy. I'm away a lot during the winter and being able to control the house temperature through a smart phone or iPad would be very good for me. I want to be able to watch the weather forecast online and turn on the boiler when the temperature is forecast to go below zero. I need to do this several hours in advance so that the heat from the house will have a chance to filter up through all the insulation in the loft and protect the pipes in the loft from freezing. I've sent two messages to Netatmo through its webpage but I've received no response to either. There's no phone number on the website, email or postal address. I've a modern gas boiler (Worcester), no general thermostat but thermostats on each radiator. There's two heating zones and one hot water zone on my programmer. I presume that, when I am away, I'd set the programmer to be on 24/7 so that there would be heating whenever I told the boiler to come on through my phone/iPad. Does that sound correct?

Thanks for the video. I had more or less decided to buy the Salus IT500 when I stumbled across the Netatmo. Did you consider the IT500? I know that the Salus isn't a learning unit. I have also read that it simply puts the heating on solid until the set temperature is reached then switches off instead of getting near it, switching off for a bit to see what happens and switching on again if needed. Do you know what the Netatmo does? I am put off by the fact that Netatmo doesn't appear to be able to be reached by telephone. Their website also says the unit is not available in the UK when it clearly is. Salus on the other hand were easily reached by telephone.
@MrPantss
@MrPantss 10 лет назад
I did not look at the IT500, I mainly went for this as I had the Netatmo Weather station and I quite liked the interface on my iPhone. The netatmo does learn as you use it more, it had an update recently I think that makes it very good. I am not sure what you mean reaching it by telephone? I can turn my heating on and off from anywhere in the world using my iPhone or logging on to my account on any browser. So on my weather station I have freeze alerts to my phone, so I know if my heating needs to be on if I am away somewhere in the winter.

Alex Yallop Thanks for the reply. I meant that Netatmo (as a company) don't seem to be contactable by telephone. Support only seems to be available bye-form or forum. This doesn't give me a good feeling about them. Other than that it looks good..

yes indeed, I feel the same, however they are quite responsive over email and quite quick to turn things around.
