The NETGEAR Orbi Wi-Fi 6E Mesh System is a top-of-the-line mesh router system that boasts some serious performance with it's quad-band technology, something not every new 6E router system has on the market and in our experience, it has certainly made a difference in terms of speeds. But, this system also comes in at an incredible cost. So is the cost worth it given the performance you get?
We'll answer that question and breakdown the entire experience of this router system including it's router design, ethernet jack support on both the main router and satellites, the Orbi app and some features NETGEAR has put behind a paywall like parental controls, plus we'll walk you through just how fast this mesh system has performed for us and any other issues we've run into while using it.

This review is a game-changer for anyone looking to upgrade their home Wi-Fi setup! The NETGEAR Orbi Quad-Band WiFi 6E Mesh System looks incredibly impressive, and your comprehensive breakdown of its features and performance really helped me understand its capabilities. The fact that it's quad-band and supports WiFi 6E is fantastic for ensuring fast and reliable connectivity throughout the house. The satellite extenders sound like they provide excellent coverage, and the dedicated backhaul is a smart design choice. Your review gave me the confidence to invest in this system for my home network. Thanks for the great content! 🚀📶🏠

I like Netgear products, but not at that price point. I've had a Netgear Nighthawk DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem/wi-fi router for a few years. It's Xfinity compatible and gets ~400Mbps hard-wired, and ~93Mbps wireless. Definitely slower than the Orbi, but it cost me less than $200 and serves the needs of our household very nicely.

Power blip is an issue with all netgear routers in my experience. That's why I always use a UPS for both my modem and router.
@SuperBotcreator
@SuperBotcreator 6 месяцев назад
Could you define "power blip" - is this when the lights flash for a split second when like an A/C unit kicks on? Or a complete off for 1 second then on?
@NiranjanNanda
@NiranjanNanda 6 месяцев назад
@@SuperBotcreator My understanding is - there is a fluctuation in power input. It can be caused by heavy electrical equipments like AC, heater etc. It can also happen if something happens to the electric supply to the entire house. And, the fluctuations may not be always on the lower side (no power), it can happen when high voltage goes through the circuit to which your equipments are connected. For example if your router is plugged into a surge protector, then there won't be power (because surge protector breaks the circuit to protect your router) for a brief period.

Interesting what you said about the power blips. I had an orbi a couple of years ago and loved the performance when it worked. However, due to the power dropping periodically it meant that my online backups to Backblaze would stop and I'd have to manually start them again which was completely pointless and put a bad taste in my mouth. I now use the Linksys and they are solid.

Good review. I don’t think I will buy it because of the service. It is not just the cost of the subscription, but the feature done belong on the server. The parental control and website blocking all are on the router itself, so why do I need a service to do it? The Ring’s service provides video storage, which is an ongoing thing, so make more sense. It they want more money, just have a one time charge to enable the feature, because the service won’t add any value to the user.

I’m looking to upgrade and I was looking at this product. I’ve been reading reviews and they are accurate with your video. Now there is only one review that talks about 7500 sq ft requirement for the devices to work without malfunctioning, but the website says up to 7500 or this model for up to 9,000. Do you experience any problems? In your video, you mentioned that you live in an apartment. I would like to see a video where you test square footage or update this video’s description with some context about that. I am not concerned about the parental control features.

Do you think this will work in a 3 story home? Need it for gaming on the top floor. It’s a historic home so the building materials seem to block signal.
@6MonthsLater
@6MonthsLater 10 месяцев назад
It should, but you'll likely need to get a 2 or 3 pack if those materials do block a lot of signal. Also, putting routers within line of sight or in any part of the home that is more open will be critical. If you can't get it to work with this router system, your next best bet is going to be trying to hardware ethernet to the third floor and connecting a satellite router to it to get enough signal up there. Hope that helps! - Josh

The subscriptions is a deal breaker for me. I am not buying a product that hold you to a subscription service to get full use of the device - get real Netgear!

Why would anyone need to waste so much money with these mesh systems in general? Let me give you an example of what priorities are about....I have a friend who has a gigantic 8500sq ft house on 2 acres of land. He has provider speeds of 500 mb/s for the entire house. He has 4 extenders that he paid a total of $150 from netgear throughout. He's also a psychiatrist and i've asked him why he doesn't upgrade. He can AFFORD it and he says "why? I get good enough speed for my family anywhere we want and why would I pay for something that costs as much as a modest pc or cheap laptop?" He actually said that and I still laugh whenever I think about it. It's a complete waste of money when you can just use your cable or internet provider equipment as the person below said and save a ton of money.

Netgear is rubish. No support after 6 months. When you lose power. AP mode stops working.

I would pay the subscription if you can guarantee that it blocks ALL porn sites.

Some providers offer those features through their dedicated app if you get their proprietary modem.

I'm not going to pay for parental control therefore even if you give me this 1500 router as a gift I won't use it. Netgear can suck it

Save your money and avoid WiFi 6E. Its useless compared to regular WiFi 6. definitely not worth the price for hardly any extra speed performance which manly is dependent on your WiFi plan with your provider. A buying guide for everyone: as long as you buy a docsis 3.1 modem and WiFi 6 Tri band router or mesh system you’ll be set for now even far future. both modem and router under $500.

Have a rbk752 orbi. Worst ever, does as he says, usually have to set up again and net gear, provide the most appalling customer experience I have ever come across when you are spending over $1000 on their devices you only get 30 days of technical support and 90 day warranty and is stated in the review you are expected to pay extra for basic security and child facilities. Ultimately I would never buy another make a product app is rubbish. You are asked to pay a premium price in return you will receive a very mediocre product, very mediocre app and the worst customer service imaginable. Do not waste your money buying this pile of turd

Orbi products sucks. A couple years and the equipment or satellites are faulty. Frustrated with resetting the units. Going to light bud the sucker. Never buy it again. Perhaps it’s programmed in the units to be faulty in a few years so people would upgrade. Super frustrating.

the subscription service costs are "dummy costs" for people too dumb to install a simple firewall in their system. just spend a little time to learn basic network security and boom you dont have to pay those "convenience fees"
