I’m pretty sure there’s a mod called like “NetherPortalFix” or something that remembers which portal you came through when returning you to the overworld, wonder if that could handle returning you to the train portal?

what if you try to use the Immersive Portal instead of regular one?

Hey Shalz, can you try it with the Immersive Portals mod? It will let you go through the portal without the loading screen and you can see the other side.

Few ideas that came to mind -endportal on train -try with immersive portals installed to see if it works and if your computer explodes -a train that is on itself

I implore you to not give up on portals just yet. Try traveling through portals using the Create train portal mechanics. From my personal experiments with Create and AE2, I found out that the rails leading into the portal link those portals together, no matter the coordinates or even a dimension. I have used this mechanic to move the entire portal with all of its NBT data across dimensions and the train travels between them just fine! If you find a way to move one side of the portal, you can trick the train to travel this way Nether-Nether, Overworld-Overworld. I don't know how the Create Interactive works exactly, but I implore you to try linking up two portals with rails, and then assemble them on top of trains! ❤

What about trying the first portal thing but with Immersive Portals this time? Maybe this could make it so you could take it the other way back to the train. Imagine having the train with the immersive portal going through another immersive portal :o

I’m just gonna say it, we need a train or monorail that both goes through the nether, as well as the overworld, functions as a mobile base and has automated cannons. That would be cool

about heading back into the overworld onto the train: the portal (nether) may have just spawned far from where it was supposed to, thus creating a new portal instead of connecting to the old one. i think this is probably wrong, but if you calculate where the portal should be in the nether, then build the portal, it might connect permanently probably not tho? not sure

If there's a way for a train to drive onto another track, you could make tracks on a bearing contraption then the train could drive from tracks on the ground to the tracks on the contraption, so you could make a turntable.

I hope the devs see this video and implement the turntable feature for trains somehow. Might be hard for trains to switch contraption layers, but that would be so cool.

I think the fact the portal work is a small happy accident that simply just works as is, but the way out would need to modify the vanilla portal seeking algorithm to look for portals on physics structures.

To apply this to your potential train survival series, I don't think it would be _that_ incredibly difficult to write a datapack that spawns hordes of mobs to attack your train (since hordes already exist in Minecraft), wink. Anyway, it's really strange that the Nether Portal doesn't work. I guess it can be fixed with a lot of work, but for now, I think it's best to just circumvent the Nether Portal entirely. If someone could make a block that acts like a Nether Portal upon clicking it, and behaves similarly to a bed, that could allow you to go to the Nether and back on a train

I wish those cannons could be automated to fire at mobs, imagine having a train that circles a base and when mobs are detected just explodes it

That survival train track will probably be pretty long and varied just to make the series more interesting. Going under mountains. Underwater. High in the sky. Hard curves suddenly. Going through many biomes just so you could try and drive by pick up stuff. Of course making all the space for the train too if you're going under ground so you don't suffocate in blocks or something. Maybe even going down into the void or finding away into the end dimension. Maybe if you get immerseive portals working with it. Or have some help getting it working. If you could get an add on that allows the train track to turn upside at one point along the long track too could be even more interesting.

I hope this includes the possibility of a train going through a portal on a train going through a portal

I can't wait until you update the modpack and hopefully add more mods. Though I would love to see some of the industrial and magic mods in their as well (personal favorites are carpenters, Tinkerer's Construct, and Thaumcraft. Also Create of course). But I think getting some mods that adds more mobs, biomes, and items would be cool if we get things like the Create: Cannon mod in the update. But I recommend that you add a rendering mod (fun fact: Minecraft renders all visible chunks in full detail, this is not economical) first and foremost

@Shalz ! Actually, from my experience, relocating the train with a wrench does work (yet, I have Create: Interactive, and it is fully working) Try using the wrench on the blocks rather than the boogey and such, mabey try with a little bit bigger of a train?

Ok, now put a train through a portal ON A TRAIN

You can turn tracks if you set the bearing to "only place when anchor destroyed" then turn it a bit and place the tracks on top. Only problem is that the tracks dont actually exist so when you try to drive on them the train derails.

Returning into the overworld from the nether and generating a new portal is just a vanilla behavior from entering the nether and game spawned a portal away from where it should have, due to obstacles like walls in the way of the correct location.

I can actually answer why the portal was one way! SO! Minecraft's portals general based on location and what is likely happening is any of the following: The enter location of the portal on the train is defaulted to world x0 y0 The exit portal can not see the enter portal due to how the block interaction code for the train works The Train Portal may just be too far away from the portal's destination
