Chris, you need to get Jack's cast net he uses when you go to the ocean if you do not have one or if you do. Use that off your dock and see what you can catch with that. Also you may need Jack for this ideal. But get on your jet ski and go real slow and have a really good size net you can drag in the water along the side and straight down the middle of the canal. Then you'll know for sure how populated the Lionfish are doing that.

I like both, the fish traps and this new net! Maybe use the net for a few videos for now and then bring back the traps. I like the net because you can probably get more fish that wouldn't go into the trap or just too big for it. They swim over it and BAM you pull up a bad ass trigger fish or something. keep the little Lionfish...put it in its own little tank or bigger one and get more....they may be bad ...but...they are beautiful

Trap is easy to set it and forget it. You will get stuff probably like you always have. But that net on a day you are chumming…. Just leave it there and wait until something big comes and snatch it up. Think that net is going to be catching some good things to come

FGC Rain cloud at it again... Also, suggestion, why won't you try "Kawil" it is a way of fishing in my country where instead of a rod, you tie and wrap a long fishing line on anything like a plastic bottle or bamboo (floating things are better incase you drop them). And instead of fishing on the side which you can also do, you would snorkel and swim to the locations you want to go to. It also helps so you can control who's biting like getting the bait away from the sergeant majors and bringing them close to the lionfish to catch them. There is no english term for this so I would just call it underwater fishing. For me, it is more fun to use than a rod but it may be tiring.

Next time would love to see you put the trap back down and see what you can catch.

Big fisherman here catch some legal size snapper mangrove schoolmaster ect and grow them out in a pond would be sick. Or an all native pond/tank

Id put it in the pond just to start cycling it because they are hardy and youll be able to see it with those colors against the sand you could always put it in a bucket when u need to do maintence
