Boiling the nettles removes a lot of the nutrients. Try steaming them, it'll do the same job but keep the nutrient inside the plant 😊 Nettles are great food, even for humans.

I've just been collecting nettles the other day Mark, tempted to make some nettle soup!
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 3 года назад
How do you do it?
@korzer
@korzer 3 года назад
@@MarksShrimpTanks Easy, collect the tops like you do for shrimp. Sweat down some onions until translucent add small amount of fine diced potatoes with some stock.. Once potatoes are softened add your nettles, simmer with a lid for 5 mins or so until they're fully wilted (don't cook the nettles too long so they keep their bright colour) then blend, add some cream or milk +seasoning at the end to taste. Its very good!

Thanks for another great video. Nettle is hard to.find in my area so far at least. I been collecting dandelion leaves and using them. My shrimp have developed an addiction to them as they are on the leaves as they sink.

My tds always up and down can add only Ro to make it required tds for example 120 tds if tds rise to 130 can we add only ro to make it 120 and what is the maximum best tds for cardina shrimps pls reply me thx
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 3 года назад
The best way to adjust tds is to do it via a water change, make your new water the tds you want and drip it into the tank forget the tank tds because you will be chasing it forever. My tanks tds is around 125pp :)

I added the Stinging Nettle leaves to my tank, the shrimp aren't even looking at them. I am assuming they are getting enough to eat or they would be flocking to the leaves.

I really like your ending patreon memorial scroll. Nice way to show appreciation. This was a great how-to video. I will see if my shrimp prefer stinging nettles (we call them itchweed) over mulberry leaves (which I use) or if they don't care. Anyway, it is an extra food to add to their menu. I've known about it for awhile but hadn't tried it yet.

So why just use the new growth? I was always picking the larger big leaves from mine when I don't feel like picking mulberry leaves.
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 3 года назад
just because they are fresher, if you keep on picking them it forces the nettle to keep on producing new leaves and at this time of the year thats fine.
