Hello William. Indeed he has been classified as a male soprano. He had a high pitched voice when he was younger and was bullied at school. Doctors opted for surgery to fix the "issue" but the family opted out and the rest is history. There are a few natural castrati due to medical reasons with non fully developed larynges. He just said he wasn’t prepared and didn’t rehearse at all bc he found the Stimme contest by serendipity!! That is why I love Latinamerica. When you are Latinamerican, Pure talent and previous studies make you be able to improvise in the most ravishing of ways the moment come.

Yes, his voice is extraordinary. However, breathing , technique and interpretation is not yet as good as could be.

I'm open to being corrected by others with more knowledge, but I don't think his voice is correctly described as counter tenor. He is in fact a natural male soprano.

@@jondavwal13 Nobody, man or woman can sing at that pitch using 'chest' register. He's singing with whatever register you want to call the one above - usually 'head'.
