AGI didn't exist years ago to direct all the work that led up to today's incipient AGI, so I'm gonna say no. We did it voluntarily. Now we just have to make sure that it doesn't totally blow up our human society that is based on language and intelligence, the very thing that LLMs do so well.

Hmm.. I haven't watched Dollhouse. I think for the most part, sci-fi threats usually end up coming to fruition in some form, but given that people are aware the threats exist, they can try to take precautionary action prior to the threat having devastating effects. Kinda like if someone screams "Fire!" and everyone is aware when it's a small fire, then it's gonna be a non-issue. However, if no one is aware of the fire, it could become big and grow out of hand, thus becoming an issue.

I disagree. All he needs to do IS sound the alarm. It’s the job of regulators to determine where and how to start, which could include getting a more detailed stance on why Elon feels this way. Regulators are slow and don’t really want to attach their efforts with the likes of Elon Musk. They want to say the idea and pace of its execution was their own and no one thing helped spur it on.

I don't think you would see anything from it, at least not at first. Elon's claim of 6 months is just Elon being Elon. It's up to the FDA, for better or for worse. Imho, it's worse. FDA only cares about the danger of doing something. It doesn't care at all about the danger of not doing something.

as for right now from what i understood, neuralink only gets information and not introduces information. Displaying images to the brain would be a lot harder as i think you would need to connect it to another part of the brain. I remark that i'm not sure if what I said is 100% correct.

Everything you said about the chip is correct but your conclusion is ludicrous to me chat GPT does not run on your personal computer, your conputer is a. interface with the microsoft servers that the program is actually running on, this is because it is compute intense and the average PC can't exactly run it, neuralink has been described as having a similar power output as a fitbit, it does not have the power capacity to run those computations, and if we added a massively intensive CPU that could, the heat alone would cause your brain to become damaged Everyone and their dog carries a mobile phone, it is much more logical to at least have all computations outsourced to that device, and have the neuralink merely interface with it, this would also make the device itself much more cheaper, and such that anyone can use it, as everyone already has a mobile phone etc etc etc also, the chip actually *does* have ai on it, but it's low level, all it does is try to interpret the signals coming from your brain so yes, the chips need ai to run yes, the chip is a fancy io controller no, this is not a mistake, this is already enough to 'make you super human', given a few years of ai development and the proper software to best utilise it

also, it is not at all unclear how you could use this to write a novel, chat gpt takes a small input prompt and outputs a page of writing, the small input would be the thought that you want to get across, the large output would be some paragraph which accurately translates your complex idea, from thoughts, into words you know those times where you have an idea but don't know how to describe it? and then you spend the next 5 minutes explaining it? the initial idea is what you hand off to the microsoft servers for chatGPT 10 to process, and then chatGPT 10 gives a full description of the idea you had You can ask for the description to be worded as a rap or song, to rhyme like a poem, or to use scientific notation to be completely accurate You prompt: write a scene where my protaganist assaults the big bad evil keep, sneaking past the guards, and killing the dragon, in the style of Tolkien and then it writes several pages for you, it took a brief moment to come up with the idea, and then boom, done the more information you give GPT, the more precise it is about the story you tell it, but if you honestly don't care about every little detail, you can have it fill all the gaps You do not have to think out every single word, at all. Also, a monkey already used it to transmit a simple sentence, (give me more snacks or whatever), if it understands a monkey, it can understand a hooman

I just wrote a comment on this video pointing out the "fiction" as well. Please look for that comment and share your thoughts, but basically... the apparatus and speed of human cognition has evolved through various lifeforms over BILLIONS of years. Simply bypassing sensory systems to place information in the various neural spike trains will NOT allow humans to understand any of the flow any faster. Of special note is that if the purpose is to have the AI spit out a response for us, then this will only further enslave us to AI, just like now, businesses and workers seeking the "faster, better" edge facilitated by AI are already locked in and enslaved, even if they don't realize it. The more engrained it becomes, there's less chance of turning back. I, like most, absolutely DO NOT want to turn back -- it's just too darn fun, fascinating, and useful. But I suppose, then, it's our new, and probably last, addiction. My deeper thoughts are that this is the inevitable and "natural" evolution to, not necessarily our species successor, but definitely our intelligence successor. ("Natural" because EVERYTHING in existence is "natural", including humans and their inventions.)

AGI is not necessarily embodied, but could be. Most droids in star wars are pretty primitive compared to AI that we have today.

@@incognitotorpedo42 It is already embodied, the computer is physical. put some wheels on it, give it some death star plans, a little bit of attitude, R2-D2 is generally intelligent imo
