I had a panic attack when I got mine. I think I just freaked myself out because I was already in so much pain and then the size of the needle freaked me out and I was just going thru a lot in that moment so I panicked. I stayed still and it got done REALLLLY quick like less than 2 minutes but I just had this sense of worry.
i got the epidural for my birth and all i can say is THANK GOODNESS; felt so much better after. i felt a slight sting for a few seconds but my contraction pain was so bad that the needle felt like basically nothing,, never knew this is what it looked like , it’s crazy how our bodies are able to go through this
@@user-hv5cu3em2k for me it helped a lot, i felt no pain during my contractions and cervical checks but felt mild pressure when it came time to push my experience was definitely worth it!
I was trying to go for an undmedicated birth but after being in labor for more than 3 days my body was tired and I had to get transferred to a hospital to get the epidural. Honestly had no idea this was how it was done. It did not hurt at all and I couldn’t feel a thing. My anesthesiologist was done in within 1-2 mintues. I felt so amazing afterwards though and was able to sleep.
I delivered 5 weeks ago I got this done lmao never watched the video before getting it done. Honestly glad I never knew wth was happening back there. Ladies it’s just gonna be pressure but it’s worth it
Nursing student here. Learning about intra operative anesthesia drugs and wow this is insane. I can’t imagine this, makes me feels crazy imagining this. Props to you mothers who did this !!
That hurt so much I ha DC it with all my kids accept with the last three and believe me without it is horrible and painful but I got through it with Gods help God bless to all and thank you to all the nurses and doctors and anesthesiologists out there
I gave birth in Nashville. My favorite person I met while giving birth was my anesthesiologist, Ryan. I remember him in my mind as my angel because after a long laboring process and me not progressing normally, I know for a fact I wouldn’t have made it or have been aware during the birthing process. I still remember his name and how happy I was to see him. He was so quick, efficient and friendly. I was overjoyed to have a large needle placed in my back at that moment. 😂
I absolutely hate needles & after reading all the mixed comments is making me very scared BUT I still think I’m going to stick with getting it. I’m pregnant with my first & I can’t imagine going through natural labor pain. I’m just praying 🙏🏾 in advance that everything goes well for me & that I don’t feel any pain with the epidural as far as delivery. My Husband keeps telling to stop watching all these vids but it’s so addicting..lol 😂
It's not that bad at all. You only feel a pinch when you get the numbing medicine. You never actually feel the epidural needle. I had my girl 2 months ago, and labored for 8 hours before I was finally brave enough to do it. I immediately felt better and could enjoy the breathe again. You got this mama ❤️
I had my son natural n all I can tell you is do what works for you 🧘🏽♀️ everyone doesn’t do well with pain. I had my own techniques of dealing with it so every child I have I will most definitely give birth naturally😊 but do what works for u . 🙏🏽
Oh my gosh! This looks so much worse than I thought😳! I’ve had 3 kids, currently expecting my 4th in a couple weeks, and never had an epidural. More scared of that than birthing without!
Ive had 3 children, all c-section and i had to get the epidural. I can assure you it was the most painful thing I’ve had to experience in my life. Even as i watch this i can still feel that needle going into my back. I don’t ever want it again.
@@angelxtasy I think it depends on your pain tolerance ( I felt pressure not pain ) and how experienced the person doing it is. Damn, sorry you had that experience . People don’t give women enough of credit
As long as you have a doctor that is experienced it’s not so bad. I’ve had 3 c sections and will be having another one in 8 weeks. My 2nd c section was awful. The doctor stuck me in the back 5 times. I was traumatized after that and kept telling everyone afterwards. When I had my 3rd c section I told them during the process and they saw the marks going up my spine. They however were great! They’ll be delivery my next baby as well.
I had an epidural for my baby , only a few months ago and it really didn’t hurt that much (surprisingly!) It hurt more having to bend right over for them to put it in than it did the actual needle going in!
God job..in fact i am anesthetist and i used to mix alow dose of epinephrine with lidocaine in the testing dose in order to make shure i m in appropriate epidural region and not went intrathecaly
I will go through this in 3 days I’m crying in frear and I’m not afraid of needles 🥺at least I have my fiancé to be here through the whole thing. Together.
This makes my skin crawl... considering when I had mine for my first delivery it took them 4 tries and 2 lidocaine shots. Over AN HOUR. 4 years later I'm still dealing with nerve damage from it. Thanks OSU maternity.
Omg. I had the same thing happen to me. I was given three test doses and each time my heart rate would increase from 90s to 140s. I was told they could reinsert the catheter after an hour but my baby had other plans lol So I went in thinking I was gonna get an epidural but had a natural birth. No, never damage though. I'm so sorry this happened to you.
They don’t tell us, but you’re supposed to let the anesthesiologist know if you have scoliosis. Even a slight one. I think that’s why my first epidural hit a nerve but I’m not sure as he wasn’t sure. Apparently you’re supposed to tell them if you have scoliosis but it’s so common people don’t mention it. Many people have it and don’t know also. The pain was short-lived, and the results were worth it for me vs more contractions but we’re all different. Honestly, I was terrified of labor and delivery for years and the only scary part for me was honestly about 20 seconds of the epidural Lol. After that took effect : delivery was quite peaceful.
This made me feel sick. It reminded me of my epidural which failed 3 times. Didn't work at all. I felt every tap and pull of them putting it in. I ended up with an emergency C-section and had to have a spinal instead which worked. I had an elective c-section the second time with a spinal and that went up to my brain and caused issues with my heart. (I'm fine now) I will NEVER ever put myself through that again. Never.
I gave birth with it. If I have another baby I'll get it again. My pain was insane, once I got the epidural it helped tremendously! I didn't even feel it because I was in too much pain already.
Would this hurt or is the site numbed? Cause I know some people get this done while in labor and they're more focused on the labor pains, but would this hurt when getting it done?
I always hit bone when doing epidural technique. and when I do insert the catheter, it just doesn't work. happened to me multiple times. it's so frustrating
I get CSECTION for my son .my husband does come every day at the hospital to rub my back before he left the hospital he said babe you will be alright love you
Did this 3 times....the third one was a fail... my heart rate shot up and I started coughing sooo bad...it didn't take at all... I could feel everything when I started pushing on the right half and the left half was numb
I have endometriosis. I’m almost 34 with no children. Some periods I cramp so bad I can barely stand up and get out of bed. Is labor pain worse? I said I’d like to try a natural birth my first time, but I don’t know if I can handle anything worse than what I’m already experiencing 😅. Women rock ❤!
As someone with endometriosis, the pain is similar but contractions are more like full body cramps. Almost like very severe diarrhea cramps. It felt like every bone in my body was being crushed simultaneously.
Omg. Lol this gave me chills seeing the big needle. What's weird is you don't feel any of this and well my anethelogist yelled at me and told me to stop crying as I was trying to get into position for him work. Uh. Ot my fault baby was in my ribs and I couldn't hardly bend over without pain. Anyway. The epidural worked for a bit, and then had to have an emergency C-section where I had to be knocked out because I could feel my dr cutting me. Yet I'd do the whole thing all over again.
had this done in 2005 with my second to the older son and they messed up my spinal cord some were along the line my other 3 pregnancies they just gave me a simple spinal I had no problem with them till I had this procedure done
This was so painful for me. I has 2 pregnancy both times of delivery I had asked for epidural. Omg it was very traumatizing and extremely painful for me. Then the doctor told me my spine is shaped a certain way which makes it difficult to insert the epidural. It took them almost 2 hours to finish and a lot of different doctor to help.
They offered to give me an epidural for my knee surgery, but I hated the idea of a needle in my back so I went with the nerve block option instead. It did not help the pain at all whatsoever. I wonder if an epidural would have been a better option...
I had my knee replacement two weeks ago with epidural and i just loved every minute of it. Especially when the heat starts pumping through from my toes.
@@Abcdefghijajajaja I’m sorry you had a bad experience I guess it depends on who it’s performed on. Also they didn’t numb the area before administering the catheter?

I had to get this with my first pregnancy because of health issues but they had to give to me a second time because i still felt the pain on my right side and then 7 years later again with my second pregnancy but this go around it was the worst
I doesn't hurt to me but watching it b3e done seems so much worse. I've only had c sections so I have to get them. Will be having my 3rd and final one 2/20/23.
I had to get 2 epidurals bc the first one he messed up and then I had my c section! All was super scary but the epidural was totally worth it my contractions were terrible, I was begging for the epidural! It was so much less pain compared to contraction pain. Getting it twice sucked though for sure! I ended up getting an emergency c section anyways though so all those contractions and the painful induction process was for notjing lol
I had an epidural with my 1st child and it was more pain that giving birth (the epidural wore off by the time I gave birth so I felt everything ) I was so scared to have an epidural with my 2nd child and thank god I went into labor unexpectedly 2 months early and had her in the ambulance so I didn’t have to get one. Side note….i felt the epidural ripple up my back and I have severe back pain to this day (which is actually my daughters 18th birthday today) has never been the same since.
Hei! I wanted to ask how do you deal with the pains ?because Am suffering too and the most irritating thing is that the so called doctors don’t want to admit the side effects.
I've had 4 with my children and to me this is the worse part of the birthing experience but I was to scared to give birth without it. I can feel this video lol 😂 never again!
The doctor hit my spine or something by accident with the needle and it caused one of the worse pains I’ve felt. He had to move it around to continue :/
I know this comment is 5 mos months old, but I had to reply, the same thing happened to me! He hit a nerve and I felt like my leg was on fire and I was being electrocuted up my spine at the same time. It probably lasted seconds but man did it traumatize me. Thank goodness w/ my second child epidural was painless. He said it could be because I have a slight scoliosis .
Omfgggg I didn’t know the needle was that fucking long. One of the most uncomfortable things I had to do during birth. I would twitch every time and get fussed at because I could become paralyzed. Like damn that’s a fucking weird sensation. Of course I might twitch
the contractions are much more painful than this haha ! me having experience with needles with piercings this was ok for me and such a relief from the contractions 😂
I had this when I had a surgery. At first I was not aware that they inserted this at my back, only then when a nurse came and checked on me then she administered something on my back. It wasn't painful also when they removed the catheter.
