How fast can someone type with OpenBCI (not using robotic hand but just directly choosing letters), and what would it take to be able to detect entire *words* at a time?
Well, how fast can someone type with a keyboard? Would be different on a case by case basis and an individual could steadily improve at it over time. I type at well over 100 WPM and I'm pretty sure that each keystroke requires the firings of many neurons in an ordered fashion. I.e. when I go to reach for "A" I must move my hand left and get my pink ready to press down after this motion. If you were able to have a single neuron correspond to a letter and type that way it would be much better. For one, you wouldn't make typos the way you do when using a keyboard because thinking about a key would result in that key being pressed.
