Thank you so much for this video. While it's hard to hold any of them above any other, to me this is probably one of the most informative and at the same time one of the most motivating as well as inspirational. I mean to the point of watching it now again an taking notes. I count myself as a cup half full as opposed to half empty kind of guy. I generally have a positive outlook on things including my situation. While progress is slowly getting better. Let me say, that it's through videos such as these, that educated, motivate, and gives me,(and I'm sure others as well) a sense of direction. Thank you Dr. Tobias

Thank you Tara; I was left handed previous to stroke in March 2019; I am an artist,doing mostly digital painting and designs;so now I use my right hand for my painting.I spent years studying anatomy for being more capable of accurate depiction of the human body. I have been concentrating on specific muscles in my affected side; and now seeing some movements in those areas. Pretty crazy, but makes me feel hope for more movements! Another great video as usual!

I'll make this as short as possible. I had a stroke last year at the end of September. I'm 33 now but I was 32. Got out of the hospital the day before Halloween. I have been feeling improvements since I was in the hospital. I had been doing exercises everyday all day for the first 3 months. Then I let my body rest more which is more of what I needed. My brother came upon this mushroom and researched it and found out it has benefits for the brain. I bought a high potent brand on Amazon to see if it would help me since I have been taking omegas and vitamins and all that for my brain already. I got the shipment the end of June. I started taking em right away. Didn't really feel anything until about 4 days later. I started feeling A LOT of tingles on the right side of my body, it scared me bcuz I had no idea wth was going on. I literally felt a tingle trail of what I think were axons communicating, it moved from somewhere in my right affected side and in about 4 hours I could feel the tingles had moved to the left side of my head and stopped at my brain made a new connection(my left side basal ganglia is where my stroke happened). When I was still in the hospital the surgeon told me 2 times I didn't need any operation and my brain would make a complete recovery when it creates a new pathway. I now know, from my doctor, that all of my nerves are regenerating after they had degenerated. I think this lion's mane mushroom powder I took is what kick started all my nerve regeneration. I just want to see if anyone has ever heard of a case or similar to me because my doctor hadn't, but told me my regeneration won't stop until it's 100%
@cachorrazo
@cachorrazo 2 года назад
@@joyokonkwo9520 Although our cases are different I think maybe this could help you also. Look up lion's mane mushroom and all of its benefits. It's been helping me very much with my brain reconnecting to everything I honestly believe. Maybe it could help you too, God bless and best wishes

As far as I understood, start with the movements of the affected leg or arm as early as possible. To begin any possible movement, and then to develop into meaningful useful movements, with the help of the other hand or a person, it is the essential activity of the muscles for the brain to feel it, proprioception. I use the affected hand to open the door, adhere when dressing, etc. so as not to develop negative neuroplasticity. I can mentally imagine movements that I can't report in as much detail as possible. Thank you for reminding us so persistently and forcing us to move. Have a nice week

I had learned non-use in my toes (on affected side) and my shoulder for 3 and 2 years respectively. I just didn't know they weren't working because I had bigger problems to work on. I have been working on both since my aha moment and I have seen much progress though they are significantly behind other muscle groups that I worked on immediately following stroke. I do remember therapists always telling me there was nothing wrong with my muscles, I just have to re-learn (starting in brain) the movement. I've always looked at it like I was a baby again learning it for the first time. Do it 12,000 times and you'll develop competency.

I heard you mention ischemic stroke. Can these principles still apply for a hemorrhagic stroke? I know my son is pretty unique, but still feel like some of this could help him. He is original stroke was April 2008. Even though he exceeded his original expectations, I feel he can still do more. He lost all of his speech center and his right side motor functions. Sections were removed of his brain. With extensive IP therapy 1 month out from his stroke, he walked out with a single point cane 3 months later. He still walks with a cane but he lifts the leg at the hip. His right arm can only move at the shoulder.

After a year I’m starting to think that insurance-based neuro PT is overly focused on functional activities (say walking) rather than on the small recovery of the skills that will allow you to walk. I got back some leg function fairly quickly so then it was all about just repeating and measuring, even though I still had a lot of deficiencies due to very low ankle function. But as far as the insurance evaluation goes, I’m “successfully” walking and only need periodic reinforcement and monitoring.

I'm still taking her to outpatient PT twice a week over 2 years later, and some home PT when I can get her motivated. She regressed now to requiring a walker as when she uses a cane her balance causes falls. Somehow I suspect she's using her walker as a security blanket, or _____? Tara I have a brother who suffered a TBI from a fall off a latter three years ago he was brought home in the beginning of his recovery with a trach and a feeding tube with no therapy or any medical assistance just Dr. Who would advice medical assistance for him but was ignored by my brothers girlfriend she didn't want to send him to a rehab or facility to get better two half months later he ended up back in the hospital very ill I became his guardian I sent him to a facility for therapy but they say they are doing restortive therapy on him I never see them doing any kind of therapy at all or they say he doesn't want to do therapy they can't Force him.He does a lot of therapy with me. So they just have him on idle. He has improved he does not have a trach anymore which he pulled out himself he is now talking and is eating puree food in the day and on the feeding tube a couple of hours at night. I go six time a week to work with him puzzles,flash cards different kinds and a lot of different activities. I do range of motion, I massage him, do therapy with him. His left arm and leg don't move I've been trying my best to improve his mobility so much time has passed im afraid he will lose the ability to use his left side I know in my heart he wants to get better he a has a lot of determination is their any advice you can give me it would surely be appreciated.

Thank you for the feedback! Out of curiosity, what "point" did you want me to get to? In your opinion, what is the main take-a-way from this video? What parts should have been cut out? Thanks for your help.
