Welcome back to "Neurodiverse Friends" with Pixi & co. - Cats on the Spectrum! In this animation, we're diving into the world of Dyslexia, a condition that affects reading and language processing. Individuals with dyslexia often experience difficulties with word recognition, spelling, and decoding text, making reading a challenging and
sometimes traumatic task.

If you really overthink the skit, they’ve clearly got more than one flavor, but everybody asks for the exact same thing. The ice cream vendor can read minds for exactly one thing and one thing only, and if you had to pick only a single attribute to know by heart, the one that stops you from giving out food allergies is probably the best option. I mean you're over analyizn the thing that doesn't even indicate much.The actual analysis is that the icecream is free and likely just the same flavor in many different colors. and seeing how almost all the characters seem young since the ice cream vendor is so large, most likely it's for children. It's not abnormal for certain places to give out free things to kids, BUt if it's free it's either a limited choice of options or the safest flavor for everyone. Thus the reason the vendor was confused was because dyslexicat wasn't asking for icecream. @@lancesmith8298

As someone with dyslexia, I unironcly love it. My random misreadings can create hilarious sentences. Such as yesterday where I have read a “support local farms” bumper sticker as “please end farming” Though I do get the struggle too when you’re younger too, but enough time as shown it is a tool that can make you into a good comedy writer.

I feel ya. I’m in the same boat, but not with the same cargo. Reading and writing stuff? Easy, favorite thing in the world, look how long I’m going. Saying stuff? Sometimes a problem, but I had so much speech therapy as a kid. Hearing stuff though? This is the part where I have always struggled. My auditory working memory is poorly named. It is embarrassingly bad. If a phone call requires me to hear more than three options, I have forgotten all of them trying to keep them in my head. Phone numbers and appointments need to be written down immediately to not be lost to the void. When my old therapist realized this was a thing, he asked me to repeat back something he said five seconds ago. Best I could do was summarize.

@@lancesmith8298 That sounds like me. I can remember song lyrics for hundreds of songs but half the time I switch out the words for other words that still rhyme or work in the sentence structure without even thinking about it. I can remember the meaning, I can summarize, but if you ask me to memorize any of it or repeat anything word for word? No way. Then again I can't even keep track of what color other people's cars are, or what people's faces look like, so there's a chance it's just all of my memory that is bogus

As an OCD English Grad with multiple friends with dyslexia, grammar/spelling issues, illiteracy and almost illegible handwriting; I approve of this animation. We need more awareness for people with these issues. They are often frowned upon for being 'Stupid' and it kills their self confidence and motivation to learn. It's not stupid to have difficulty with certain forms of communication like reading and writing. There is usually a cause that can be worked around. Shoutouts to my girl Hanako, who is dyslexic but in the last few years she has become far better at overcoming her dyslexia by playing Magic The Gathering with me. She doesn't always pronounce the fantasy and flourish words correctly, but reading rules text over and over to make new combos has made her reading speed like 6x faster than when we were at school a decade ago.
@PixiGags
@PixiGags Месяц назад
Dear @lauravturner, Thank you for sharing your perspective and highlighting the importance of awareness for individuals facing literacy challenges. It can be tough when people unfairly judge others without understanding that everyone's brain works differently. Labels such as "stupid" or "lazy" can be quite hurtful, and it's unfortunate that neurodiverse individuals frequently encounter emotional pressure in social settings. Hanako's story is truly inspiring. Overcoming dyslexia by playing card games sounds like a very creative way to improve reading skills while having fun. Thanks so much for reaching out and for your support. I wish you and your daughter all the best. ✌☘💖

So last year was my last year in dyslexia class and my teacher, Miss Wall, she was the best she celebrated the end of iur dyslexia class by Buying a cake And giving us the slice of cake because we all basically graduated from that dyslexia class. And that dyslexia class has helped me so much, because the last three years, it has been imprinted in my mind the memory cards that we did, the reading techniques that we did the spelling out words that we did help me And I am very grateful that you animated dyslexia and that you made the OCD cat Basically be the helper.

As someone that learned he was phonic dyslixic in his final year of high school it warms my heart to see the forms of it covered. Often just seen as reading backwards in media still. I'm pretty sure I has discalculia too but on a much lower level. Still I'll never forget the day near the end of grade 11 when the guidance consulor called me aside to her office having finally gone through my jr high finals (two teachers retired mid year who had figured it out but had to leave before helping me). She told me we think you have dyslexia. We need to call your parents. I sat alone in her office wondering if it was fatal as I never heard of it. Later in grade 12 I was sent out of town to be tested and he was shocked by my low reading skill and still being in grade 12.

Hi @ProfessM, thank you so much for sharing your heartwarming story. I can imagine how scary it must have been sitting alone in that office, wondering if it was fatal as you had never heard of it. Our fears often lie in anticipation. It's awesome to hear that you were in grade 12 despite your low reading skills. That proves that other forms of intelligence can compensate for linguistic challenges. I’m glad you find my series relatable and appreciate your sharing and support. All the best! 😺💖✌

i love this gang :) not sure if you take suggestions but id love to see one where tourette's cat has a new tic (since that can happen pretty often for a lot of people with tourette's) and the rest of the gang is perhaps confused about it or trying to figure it out, and in the end gain more understanding for their friend. i get worried when i have new tics because im not sure how my friends will react or if theyll pick up the fact that its a new tic. have a nice day!

I work with dyslexic students in my tutoring, and I just want to provide some two cents from what I've seen, this obviously isn't everyone though: (1) Dyslexia often involves misreading groups of letters for a word that is already known, I haven't seen a student read a word as a word that does not exist. (2) Dyslexia often makes it hard to read things like names or places, or sound effects (e.g. it can be hard to tell that lalala has 3 las in it) (3) Dyslexia does not make reading impossible, but it can get difficult, especially with marketing like in point 2. For example, "ice cream stand" would be fine but "nice cream stand" may just be read as "ice cream stand" to simplify that struggle of uniqueness, and "John's ice cream delights" may be confusing as well.
