I don't think you know the impact you have in our lives. Some of us would not be able to reach our goals if it wasn't for you. The way you explain this very complex subjects with such an ease is really remarkable. May you be blessed for all the work you do, You sir are gifted and we thank you for all that you do! I know you can do so many things with your talent, but PLEASE don't stop making this videos!!
Me and my med school classmates thank you from the bottom of our hearts as we're currently in the thick of our neuro block and have found your neuro videos very helpful.
I am a neurologist. This is the best explanation and tutorial I ever came across. Much better than ANY med school. Unbelievable value. Thanks so much. 😀
The fact that I’ve followed you since my prenursing days and now I’m in graduate school working on my masters in neuroscience and your videos are still helping me.
You're one of the best teachers I've ever come come across be it the internet or otherwise. Thank you for being an invaluable resource for students around the world!
This video about basal ganglia is amazing! I get clear details and a whole picture of these three complex pathways at the same time! Fight on! Dr. Ninja!
Hi Zach, it’s 3 am in Czech republic and right now Im struggling hard with my pathophysiology exam and im here just to tell u that u helped me a lot AND without u i would never had reached my goal. So Thank you a lot❤️
Zach my man you are an absolute time and lifesaver and I seriously mean that. I've been scouring the internet to understand the direct/indirect pathways and never seemed to get it. I even watched my professor's 90 minute lecture and still did not understand it. Then I watched like 20 minutes of your video and I have a complete understanding. Thank you for all that you do!
Note-taking on this video was assigned as homework for my high-school anatomy class. I have learned more in the first 20 minutes of this than I have in any of our two-hour lectures.
There's no words to explain your tallent and dedication. I was trying to understand this a couple days, and you made it feels simple. THANK YOU SO MUCH
This is totally one of the coolest, most awesome, mind-tickling physiology lectures I have ever studied, with your great & easy explanations I really can't thank you enough for this ❤️
In a land where patients may sometimes have to manage ... doctors or medication ... your little video classes expand ones understanding to the point a little power is obtained! Thanks Zach!!
So much respect for your teachings. As person who never had the oppertuinity to study Neurology, this certianly helped me with my self studies, thank you thank you thank you.

Thank you so much! This demonstration is really very helpful and one of the best illustrations out there. I have my Neuroanatomy exam in two days, and this video helped me clear my confusion.
Basal ganglia topic finally made sense to mee. Will always support this channel and will not skip ads! Thank you Zach and all the ninja nerd team! You're all blessing to med students. The best teaching style! :))))
It is a very awesome video!! I am occupational therapist and I learned a lot from your channel. School may not teach these medical stuffs in such a detail. It really helped me to understand more and train my patient.
You literally are saving my degree - thank you so much I cannot actually put it into words!! When I graduate as a doctor I will remember to donate to your channel as you've helped me sooooo much :)
feeling really relieved after listening, realizing myself that yes their are some specials who are always their for you not to worry always their to help you teach you and light you when you really need them. you deserve more than a word of thanks but what can i do is just the word thank you.
This video was so excellent. I've alway struggled with neuro material and all the structures that lie within the cerebrum and what they do. This by far one of the best lectures on the basal ganglia I've ever seen. I finally get it know. Thank you for everything you do!
This was the best one of your videos I've watched! You're such a fantastic teacher, thank you so much for making these videos, they really are invaluble.
These videos are life savers and delivered in a way that is so much better than the lectures at physio school. Currently studying for my upcoming exams and videos like these are helping me manage my exam stress so much!
My friend is in the ICU for a bleed in this area. I am a Cranio Sacral Therapist practicing remote healing on him. I appreciate the clarity you have offered here! Thank you so much! My gratitude is truly beyond words! 🙏
Another beautiful day! Thank god for beautiful humans! Thank god for Ninja Nerds! And thank god for all of our learning, progress, success, love, abundance, and happiness! Another beautiful day! Bless up Ninja Nerds!
Thank you so much for all your Videos! Your explanations are so good. I'm a Speech Language Pathologist working in Neurology and now understand Anatomy, function and lesions much better! Thank you very much!!!
wow, I wish my lectures were structured like this. having everything connected visually makes it so easy for me to understand what's being spoken about!!
As a beginner neuropsychologist, I'm truly amazed by your explanatory drawings. You make so many 'simplistic schematics' in my neuroscience books clear and understandable. Thank you for doing this!
Ok, I have a question though. Near the end, you said that the niagrastratial pathway modulates movement, I get how it enhances the direct pathway, but for the indirect pathway it seems like it increases the motor movement of unwanted motor movements. Isnt this counter productive? why would your body do that.
Well, unwanted movement can become wanted movement if it is suddenly needed. So this pathway would be useful for adapting the movement according to your needs. It isn't something that exists to cause spasms, just to ease the transition of a movement going from the indirect to the direct pathway. At least that's how I see it.
I think that is because there also exist cholinergic fibres which affect the neurons in the putamen. But the difference is that dopaminergic fibres from the nigrastriatal pathway and cholinergic fibres have antagonistic action, so the net amount of ach and dopamine decides whether the indirect pathway is inhibited or stimulated. So, nigrastriatal pathway does help in modulation of movement. I hope I was of some help😇
This question is still bothering me, even though I’m well past neuro. I just can’t get over it. Even the doctors as I ask can’t give me a clear answer. Hmmm. Well I’m going to visit my family soon some of which are doctors. So I’ll be showing them this video and maybe they can sit me down and go over it with me. If I can make sense of it I’ll share it here for the rest of you who seem to be in a similar position.
I cry tears of joy as I watch this video. It's almost midnight, my exams are due in few weeks, and I am finally understanding basal ganglia. Is it too much if I say I love you?
I'm watching your videos from russia, studying psychology. and nevertheless we don't study latin and learn everything in Russian language, your videos make everything so clear. and every time I can't believe they last 40-60 mins, because it feels like 10 minutes. so thank you a lot. you make the best yt content about neurology
