Had Covid three months ago and just beginning to get some sense of smell back. Talked to a close friend and she just told me she had just one seizure for some unknown reason years ago and lost her sense of smell for good. i looked up olfactory and there you are explaining how all this works. You did a great job in explaining how all this works. Sometimes we have to continue searching for more answers but you are like one stop shopping. I'm looking forward to watching ore your videos. I had tonic clonic seizures most of my life so looking forward to watching the video on seizures. Cause was idiopathic. I do believe that without knowing it years ago cannabis was helpful in controlling them.

Omg, this is the first video of you that I watched and I really have to say that you are an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G teacher!! Even if it is a very detailed video of almost 40 minutes, I didn't lose my interest at all. I'm surely gonna watch your other videos and finaly learn some in-depth medicine! I feel so motivated and inspired now, whoo! (Liked and subscribed of course)

Really interested in a follow up video and/or reply about how COVID has been a factor in eliminating taste and smell for so many...and how some get these senses back. (People who lost their sense of smell report dry noses post COVID. So would love to hear more about the related mechanisms on that front as it relates to this video. )

Great video! I have some questions about the Receptors and the Odorants, maybe someone can help. 1) In the video it's labeled Receptor and Odorant 1,2,3,4. I'll call them Receptor A, B,C,D and Odorant a,b,c,d here. Naturally Odorant "a" can bind to Receptor "A". However e.g. Odorant "c" can also bind to Receptor "A". Is there a difference if "a" or "c" binds to "A"? Is it less likely that "c" will bind to "A" and/or will the effect of Odorant "a" to Receptor Neuron "A" be bigger than that of Odorant "c" to Receptor Neuron "A"? 2) Around 20 Axons of (20 bipolar) Receptor Neurons are packed together and pass the Cribriform Plate to connect to the Olfactory Bulb. Their signals are still seperate though - functionally it makes no difference if they would be 1, 20 or 100 packed together - is that correct? 3) In the Glomeruli the Axon Terminals of the Receptor Neurons are synaptically connected with the Mitral Cells. How many Olfactory Neurons are connected with one Mitral Cell? The above mentioned 20, or more? 4) "A Glomeruli has a specific odor that it responds to". Does that mean each Glomerulus is only connected to a Receptor Neuron of one Type? Like Receptor Neuron A,B,C,D there are also Glomerulus A,B,C,D? (it would also respond to Odorant "c" but maybe less so - see question 1) 5) Is there a video that exemplary shows how a mix of odors comes to be formed through the different stages? Thanks a lot!
