Hi Jordon, an honest review. In this test the pedal takes the honours 🎖.......I'm sure these e- scooters have a place in a "mobile society", I'm not convinced they are 'right' currently for our city centre. Thanks again for highlighting 👍

Didn't know you used an app to find the scooters! now I do! The orange scooters are horrifically used by vast amounts of people sadly. The sights I see are quite staggering. I would say 50% of riders are breaking serious road laws, health and saftey laws or doing insane, dangerous things. From playing chicken with buses! Multiple people on them all the time, even seen 5 people on one scooter once! People going the wrong way around roundabouts over and over again. Drunks using them every Friday and Saturday night, with drink in hand. Even seen kids I would say as young as 5 on them!!!! So the whole you need a drivers licence to use them is utter cobblers, as if a car did anything of these things they would be banned from roads. I also found out it is almost impossible to get your scooter usage taken from you, it is a three strike deal. So you can literally do anything you want, as the chances of getting caught three times are almost zero. Stand for a few hours and watch in the city centre, it is quite a sight at how many you see doing literally insane things.

Yeah, I’d go for the bike any day Jordan. That scooter looked like a real bone shaker, and it was expensive too!

Very useful. I can't use the scooters as I don't have a driver's licence but they do look fun to get around on. Luckily I have a pensioners' concession card so can use the buses for free!

I’ve had the complete opposite experience with scooters, I’m not criticising your ability to ride them but I live around the same area and I’ve commuted to work on them a few times and the longest I’ve ever taken on them is 13 minutes. They’re a godsend when public transport is delayed, not available in your area or closed for the night, plus it slightly makes up for the complete lack of bike parking infrastructure in the city, I only ride my bike in when I can keep it locked up inside my work, otherwise Neuron is the second best option.

These Scooters are a significant detriment to the City. The street clutter they have introduced is awful. This is not just the Scooters themselves lying around but also the plastic remains of broken helmets that litter footpaths and areas of the Moor. Additionally I have twice had Scooters deliberately riding head on towards me whilst driving and had a scooter rider go through a red light and brush past whilst crossing at a pelican crossing. A Scooter was dumped near my house a few nights ago and it spent the whole night repeatedly sounding its siren and announcing it was calling the authorities. Sadly they never came to remove it.

I did not know they beeped! I would have to pick it up and toss it in a bin if someone parks one outside my home then, as they are dumped everywhere. Even seen one up the top of a lamp post! how on earth they got it up, well who knows.

Good video, I'd say if you have your own electric scooter it's probably as good as the bike

I personally love the convenience of the scooter, I wouldn't use it every day or for every trip but think they have an important role to connect other transport options, ie reducing long walks to a bus / metro stop. Would love to see the coverage extended into North tyneside. For instance Northumberland Park to Cobalt or Wallsend high street to the coast road are both poorly serviced with public transport and these could be used to bridge those issues

As a last mile trip they are perfect especially if you need to leave the scooter at a metro station. But don’t think they would be my first choice
