So proud of my sister for giving her first TED talk!

There are a few tips to try Work out why you suffer from anxiety - the first step in solving a problem is to understand why it is there. Be at ease with yourself - this makes it easier when you meet others. Just do it - you will become more confident by taking action - especially by doing activities which stretch your limits. (I discovered these and more ideas on Aghy Magic Method site )

To everyone saying she hasn’t gotten over her performance anxiety, if I could get to the point where she’s at, it would be huge progress for me.

She is a bit nervous with her presentation and you can notice it with the sudden stops, word repetitions, and trembling. I am not actually saying this in order to criticize her with her performance. I am saying this because I need to, so I can support my words too that she is indeed a tough and a brilliant girl by maintaining her poise until the end of her presentation. TWO THUMBS UP!!!

She is very brave. She knows she suffers from performance anxiety but still she went on to give public speech in front of so many people.

Why the F would you feel the need to point that out?? No, a-hole, you don't need to. She clearly told us she has performance anxiety, so we all know she's tough and brave for doing this. COMMENTS LIKE YOURS ARE THE REASON SO MANY OF US HAVE PERFORMANCE ANXIETY IN THE FIRST PLACE. My gosh...

Such an awesome speaker. I love the way the is visibly anxious but keeps on going anyway, a woman confident in her skills proving her point! This presentation has really helped me as a singer/perfomer, thank you Priyanka!

I totally agree. She is a living example of moving through performance anxiety. I can relate to this so well. I am a music teacher and performer who has struggled with performance anxiety for my entire career. This is quite helpful

Its great courage to go and speak in front of big audience when you have axiety. And as I think about it, only way to overcome it, is learn how to not give a shit about what others think of you.

It’s commendable to deliver a speech despite being nervous (most speakers are overly confident with little substance). To overcome nerves and deliver personal information is so valuable. Thank you for this.

I'd love to see the progress she's made yrs after this presentation. One of the best ways to better manage PA is practice. She's super brave for speaking in front of this audience. S/O to you for your COURAGE! 👏🏾

Wonderful!!! She did great, - most people would be a bit nervous - standing in front of a crowd of people, doing a TED talk! But that does not matter, - the point is - she did get her point out to the audience - and she did her best - that I can see. I enjoyed it, and I hope she'll be back at the TED with more talks!! All the best to her, and thanks for a great and very interesting talk!!! :)

In my first aerial performance I also forgot my next moves and I panicked. I have another performance coming up, which is why I am here. I just know I would rather go up there and fail than to live with fear being my prison guard. Thanks for sharing!

If you want to get rid of Performance anxiety, learn to disidentify with your thoughts and body (do not suppress anything just disidentify)
@BS-dq1kz
@BS-dq1kz 2 года назад
How do you do that? What do you mean exactly by “disidentify” with your body?
@quirkygiraffe1613
@quirkygiraffe1613 2 года назад
@@BS-dq1kz well so the mind always thinks right, it keeps on thinking and can make you live in a state of worry/anxiety, so basically what you do is you make a practise of watching your thoughts go by (observing) then you start visualizing/seeing yourself taking a step back from those thoughts. So you’re basically distancing yourself from the thoughts and not really engaging with them (this shouldn’t feel like a push-away but more like a feeling of detachment). You can also disidentify with the feelings of anxiety/stress in your body, same thing you just observe/feel into the feeling in your body and then visualize yourself taking a distance from those feelings like you can visualize yourself stepping out of the body part where the anxiety is located. There are plenty of ways of doing this, you can get creative in it as well. What these exercises do is they simply make you detach from the anxiety/stress that you experience. If you make this a practise in life then over time you’ll notice a decrease of constant thoughts of worry and anxiety this can help a lot with performance anxiety Obviously this is a meditative practise and requires yourself to feel into your thoughts, emotions and body.

Well done Priyanka! You delivered all the info so clearly though you were nervous. Happened to me sometimes too when i suddenly felt that my presentation is not interesting enough or i prepared 100%. My voice and hands would tremble too! But most times, when i looked at people nodding or smiling in the audience, i gained strength from that, and slowly my voice would become steady, hands stopped trembling, and then the presentation became a smooth sail, just like as if i had rehearsed tons of times before the actual presentation.

Wow, what a GORGEOUS girl! I mean off the charts! My take from her talk is that science is making headway in finding the true cause and solution. By the way, propranolol can help tremendously with performance anxiety.

Sounds like what a lot of psychologists already do...I was expecting the neuropsych assessment to include having electrodes placed on different parts of the scalp WHILE they performed IQ testing and similar “processing tests”. Thereafter, the neuropsych report would naturally indicate which parts of the brain are being enervated strongly or “weakly” depending on the type of task being performed (visual-spatial, visual-motor, auditory, etc.) Go figure...

@sgim43
@sgim43 7 лет назад
what was the point of all this? no big reveal by any means. I was hoping for some insight. There were all these in depth details about anxiety/fear with multiple comments indicating this was going to resolve to how and what to do to prevent this anxiety yet there was nothing! Thanks for the pictures of the brain and basically only saying you have to prepare! worthless. more so because of all the allusions that there would be such information. And then to make it even worse her "conclusion" was you can combine any two passions you want! Seriously? Might of well have been "and in conclusion... EEG's are really expensive. thank you" WTF. Frustratingly disappointing as this started out with so much potential as if it was actually going to be more helpful then the half of dozen other videos I've watched... thumbs down.

Look at the title, I don't see anything saying "how to avoid anxiety". This is more about the knowledge of what happens during it than a normal youtube tutorial. ( And this can actually help people).

Great content, smart young lady, however please consider your audience, the majority are not teenagers, so while you obviously have a plethora of knowledge on the subject, and I applaud you on that, you might want to dress a little more conservative to not distract the audience (no micro mini skirt) so that the attention will be on the valuable content that you obviously took a lot of time to prepare, not on how short your skirt is.
