Honestly who cares if Neurosis is "metal" or "sludge" or "post-metal industrial folk hardcore" or whatever term folks invent tomorrow? All that matters is that Neurosis is God.
The whole discussion on the heaviness of sound between Melvins and Neurosis boils down to "What is heavier? A ton of concrete or a ton of molten asphalt?"
@Inresurrection I've had the same thing my whole life. Take pride in it and don't care what they think. I like bands from Nile, Neurosis, Mr Bungle, Isis, Cultura Tres, Ulcerate, Cryptopsy, Dog Fashion Disco, to Devin Townsend. Like it because YOU like it.
While 'Times of Grace' is my favorite album of theirs (especially when mixed with the Tribes of Neurot companion album 'Grace') I very much enjoy their more recent stuff. Although I do wonder if they run the risk of spreading their creative energies a little too thin with the plethora of side projects they're all involved in these days.
neurosis puts a fuckton more emphasis on the atmospheric value of their music, theyve said so in interviews before. i think the melvins just have been aiming at being heavy for a lonnng time, neurosis does it just simply because it adds to the brutality of their songs. both bands rule.
