My audio teacher Dave Clark is one of the best engineers who’s ever lived. This video is a great example of that. He did FOH for neurosis for 25 years and is an amazing human being
It really is an incredible mix - the way it breathes while maintaining the heavyness. My only gripe since I first saw this clip a decade and a half ago is that I wish Steve's vocal weren't buried, but that may be Ozzfest's fault?
Right on. The first time I heard Neurosis was in 1999 when Times of Grace came out. It was like hearing 25 years into the future - there was nothing like it at the time.
This song was my introduction to a life-long love for Neurosis. My friend bought a copy of the OzzFest '96 VHS when we were in highschool and I watched it over and over. First time I heard Biohazard as well.
Rise - shining blank Scars burn way down It parts ways of the Serpent view - cast Stones where to stop Calling you - they all Lower me to the ground Stick him - they all Lower me to the soil Stick him Star - reign down On you You'll starve Bright star in the Dripping sun Writhe on - saints Steal from your actions Step in right on it's Function - stick him Star - reign down On you You all lower me Christ's shine blinds Your world Your belief is scars The will to power Ascension manifest That which is above Is as that which is below Thy will be done Thy kingdom come On earth as it is in heaven So mote it be.
Can’t get much heavier than that! What a Frankenstein of a band! Noah pounding a dark sound & Dave bellowing “ that which is above is as that which is below “ Playing possessed like a bunch of f’n monsters!!
I come watch this 2 or 3 times a year and that ending....that ultra power bassface? those slides and looks he gives off??? Like or dislike the band aside this is near objectionably the heaviest live performance to ever exist to date I think. Stupid heavy.
I know Steve was doing backgrounds most of the song...but are we sure his mic was even plugged in? Because he was screaming just as hard as Scott and you can barely hear him
