Everything aside, JP Childe truly always leaves me in awe. He's probably my favourite character dub out of all characters in all languages. The emotions, the growls, the sheer power of his delivery, it is just unmatched! It's like the man exists to voice Childe. And Childe was created to be voiced by him. He is perfection.
frfr. Tartaglia isn't even my favourite character, but I would switch to JP dub whenever he's gonna appear in quests bc I just LOVE hearing his JP VA Kimura so much.
Barely anyone ever pays attention to the original Chinese VAs which really sucks, but I always love them a lot and the hard work they put into their roles. Neuvillette sounds so serious and powerful, but he’s also proven to do the sensitive and soft scenes just as well, like a gentleman that really emphasizes the “gentle” part of the term. Childe sounds brash and a little smug, with that aura of power and excitement to fight that suits his character, but here it’s also aided by some arrogance like he’s so ready to overwhelm the court with his abilities-and it’s even more impressive when you compare his voice to the original Chinese voice of Dan Heng, since Dan Heng and Childe share a VA. ^^
@@ebullient39 Not because it's an anime, but because they have the highest skill and are the most popular. Japan has been doing this style of dubbing for the longest time and most seriously, so it's only natural, just like Brazil being so good at football. Other dubs are just copying the Japanese style of dubbing. no offense
@@ebullient39 In fact, this production company is also making popular Japanese voice actors the main attraction of this game. If they hadn't used popular Japanese voice actors, they probably wouldn't have become as popular as they are now.
WAIT CHILDE'S VA IS THE SAME AS DAN HENG??? I DIDN'T NOTICE??? I did basically stop playing Genshin after Star Rail but daaamn. For most of them (Jing Yuan/Kaeya, Luocha/Ayato) it's noticeable to (Yanqing/Venti) obvious, with Welt and Zhongli being literally just the same, but I completely didn't know Dan Heng and Childe were the same guy
@@cupcake_smoothie a lot of Genshin's CN cast is in Star Rail too, off the top of my head, there's also Gepard/Diluc, Kafka/Yelan, Asta/Kokomi, March 7th/Diona, Fu Xuan/Klee & Nahida, and Natasha/Shenhe. There are way more and I'm pretty sure I had a list of most of them but that's what I can remember right now
i love how all the VAs sound in all the languages of this cutscene! i didn’t know that levi's VA also voiced neuvillette until now, but i actually like it. i think it especially fits with how we start to see him at the end of the archon quest.
JP initially doesn't sounds like it fit, the more I listen his voice in JP the more I find it fitting and likable. yes other language does sound better. idk why I like the JP but I like it; maybe it makes him sounds more friendly
I feel like every dub except for JP one caught Neuvi's character on point. As a KR dub player I like CN and KR the most. The way in both CN and KR Neuvillette tiredly sighs after he knocked Childe out is what you expect from him instead of the "hmph" in JP. There still are many male VAs with deeper voices who would suit this character more than Hiroshi Kamiya does (not to insult him, he's such a great VA, it's just not his character), I'm not sure why they chose him.
I agree with the JP, no offense to the VA. There are a lot of Seiyuus with deep voices that fits him. Junichi Suwabe included but he's already voicing Artem in TOT.
@@mystique9130 Suwabe and many others can a VAs for both games. I think it's even possible for one seiyu to voice multiple characters from the same game like in Arknights for example (actually I wouldn't notice if my friend didn't tell me that those entirely different characters were voiced by the same VAs).
@@Kimazuine I'm neither a native Japanese speaker nor a weeb, just a language learner. There's no way for a person to take into consideration something they don't know. I'm not sure what you were referring to when you wrote that comment, so, if that does not trouble you, please enlighten me, you seem to know much more about this topic.
Has Mihoyo stated what they consider to be the "default" or template VA? Maybe Kamiya-san's direction is the most "intended" one and everyone else is just different.
Tbh his English Voice is the best in my opinion, the walk he speaks is soothing yet also imposes might and power. I’m surprised how well his VA did. (Ofc all of them are great but in my opinion The English VA ate this)
What's actually interesting is (and he posted about this on Twitter), after going thru the last scene at the graveyard, because his perspective changed so much for the character, Ray Chase, the en VA, asked the vo director if they could re-record the previous lines (which was basically everything) because he wanted his performance to better reflect this new view of him. Thankfully they agreed (that's very rare for the en VA industry). But that's why there's such a difference between how Neuvillette sounds in the trailer vs the archon quest. That's some serious dedication right there.
I feel like they should've casted Junichi Suwabe to voice Neuvilette in the JP dub. Aside from voicing a certain Archer Class Servant that also can't talk enough about justice, it would've matched the deep yet calming voice in the other dubs, especially the ENG one. Kamiya Hiroshi is always a good VA but imo Neuvilette simply doesn't match his voice.
@@angpham941 I just think Furina JP dub's delivery is flat, given the vocal range she has to work with, resulting in a tomboyish tone. Neuvilette is to high of a voice to be someone of respectable authority in court.
I genuinely think that his Japanese VA delivered it fine… I like it, I know I’m in the minority but I think you don’t necessarily have to sound a certain way ( deep voice only ) to convey power.
They probably are stuck with their impression of the characters so they like the voice that represents that, but just like when we start to understand Neuvi character, I do find the JP voice more fitting.
I'm sorry but I have to respectfully disagree. It was fine on some dialogues but during the Archon quest, particularly in which he shouted "Order, order I say!" and "Order, order!" while the camera shakes, JP sounded the weakest among all the dubs; it's akin to just reading a script without putting emphasis on the context it should have been delivered. He's a great voice actor with many well-known voiced characters like Levi but his performance as Neuvillette was really poor (at least during early Fontaine) that even some Japanese players have agreed upon and I'm inhaling copium that hopefully, the voice direction changes. It was so bad that some people even thought that they might've just hired Kamiya as Neuvillette due to his fame/big name in industry. Really hoping to see some changes because JP alongside CN are my top picks followed by EN then KR 😢 P.S: And I think changes should also be made for Furina voice direction but it's not as bad as Neuvillette so it's okay as is but still... *inhales copium
I don't get why in JP they gave Kamiya to Neuvillette and Ono to Wriothesley. Their designs scream the opposite. Neuv is stoic and has a low, growly voice, while Wrio seems more cocky and playful. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they were originally cast for but Kamiya and Ono swapped around because they liked the other's character better, I think they've done that before.
Idk about that, Wrio's just the type of character that suits OnoD. Though I agree I would also prefer a silkier voice for Neuvi (but not necessarily deeper)
@@delta54yeah, to me people are stuck with their first impressions, but when we start to understand the characters we can see the jp voice fits really well, now we just have to wait to see if the same happens with Furina
by far JP is my least favorite on Neuvillette Mostly cuz i think his voice fits his looks, the first time i saw him i was already expecting a deep voice which is why i liked EN,CN and KR
They nerfed *our* Childe, such behavior cannot be tolerated, therefore, I SHALL BRING JUSTICE WITH MY COMRADES FOR CHILDE FOR MOTHERLAND SNEZHNAYA FOR HER MAJESTY TSARITSA
Tbh i've always loved Kimiya's voice on literally everything but as much as i hate to say , his voice just doesnt fit Neuvillette's image :\ Sometimes i dont get how they screen the characters, it's like Kimura's voice is literal perfection for Childe , Murase is perfect for Venti , Sawashiro is perfect Raiden but Maeno for Zhongli is abit off and Kimiya for Neuvi is just plain unsuitable :\ +1 Wrio and Neuvi's VA should've switched lol
kamiya can of course have a lower voice than this, but the fact that jp hoyo doesn't must mean that there is some reason why they chose to use his voice. I think it's better to look at the reasons for choosing him than to have the same low voice in all languages.
As someone who used to avoid English dub for most of the archon storyline, I genuinely enjoy Neuvillette's English dub the most out of the four by a long shot 😭
@@yukraw6044 I was really excited to hear the Japanese dub since this would be the same VA who voiced Levi in Attack on Titan, but I guess I wasn't expecting he'd be directed to speak in a higher tone..? Much respect to all of the VAs, of course! I guess this particular instance just wasn't my taste..
Fun fact, his English voice actor (Ray Chase) requested to rerecord all of his voice lines when he got to the scene with Navia in the graveyard because he realized that he was just a big softie
@@grimoireweissfan6969 yeah it was such a pleasure finding out that he requested to redo his lines!! I'm really glad he did that, though it makes me wonder how often it might occur that Eng VAs for Genshin don't get to study their character fully or see the full context for scenes beforehand..
@reggymcmonkey5737 its likely moreso "figure it out along the way" kind of deal. its just a guess but I'm pretty sure companies would do that to save on cost. Which is why a lot of characters sound off starting out but get better as time goes on.
Neuvillette JP voice tho people will say doesn't fit him, his elegant appearance, and playing through the story, I think it fits his personality after knowing what kind of person he is
The english VA for Neuvillette is perfect for the model , but i like more the JP for the personality of the character. I see his personality more soft not stoic and strict. But maybe is just because im a monogatari fan and focalor/neuvillete give me the shinobu/araragi vibe.
I thought Kamiya was a bad choice for Neuvi until I actually did the AQ and found out that Neuvi is not a stoic man but he's a precious little bean. This explains why he used his soft charming voice instead of the deeper Levi voice.
Honestly I have the same opinion. At first I thought it would be a terrible cast, but he sound softer than I thought he would be. And in some way it suits him. But yeah you have to listen to him for some time before being convinced.
It also suits the mono tone him because of Neuvillette's character that has curiousity / trying to understand about human emotions in the archon quest.
Childe is the only Kamen Rider i know that can get his transformation sequence interupted, must be an old model/prototype of rider system. Even rider from early 2000, such as Kamen Rider blade, have transformation protection protocol that attack anyone that try to close their distance when the user in transformation sequence. I wonder if childe, just like Ultraman Tiga and Kamen Rider Kuuga, can combine the power of darkness and the will of light one day...
I actually really like Neuvi's JP. When I saw his design I instantly imagined the same, deep and "masculine" voice for him as the other male characters with his personality but I was pleasantly surprised. Its definitely a breath of fresh air, a character can be just as powerful, intimidating and intelligent with a softer/higher voice. People are overreacting by saying they shouldnt have cast him tbh.
My Rating: EN - 9.7 - cuz of newfound meme JP - 9.7 - Hell yeah Zeheart! CN - 9.5 - Childe VA, calm tone but ruthless grunt. Fine with me. KR - 9.8 - Yes. Something tells that Neuvillette's VA pointing out something similar to South Korea Supreme court hearing.
Dude why is English Voice so much better than the rest in this one. Usually English is the one messing up. Like he really is the only one who sounds actually mad and the part where he does the big slash his voice has real emotion behind it.
@@jeffyspectrumi think the commenter meant Childe. but Neuve VA is also super amazing. and i like that he rerecorded his voice over just because he finally clicked with Neuve's character
@@tartagliasjigglydworshipper Why would they mean childe in this scenario? Childe is an old character so they don't need to explain how is far better than other VA. Its obviously neuve
Maybe it's because I'm used to hearing the JP VA as Levi but his voice just sounds too short for neuvillette?? It's powerful but the guy just seems short lmao
Played using CN since 2.0 and everytime there's a new cutscene I'll search up the JP and EN versions to see the character's voice. Imo JP always disappoints and EN always feel forced.
