If you know your friends or partners gifting is not a hard thing, recently I gifted my friend who loves writing, a custom made Japanese fountain pen and she loved it so much that now she writes with it and send me pics appreciating how good the pen and ink is, one of my friend loves cooking so I gifted her a victorinox knife and she said it was the most useful and meaningful gift she recieved on her birthday, and now I am gifting my friend a guitar because he is asking for it from last one year and I don't have to figure out, boys are simple, for girls you always have to figure out, but always understand what they need, and gift appropriately.

I personally gifted my friend who is a big Eminem fan a very cool framed portrait of Eminem along with a nice Eminem sweatshirt and a poster of his Favorite album from Eminem. It was two years back but he still keeps that portrait on his table and poster on the wall.
