I love LOVE my bootfoot waders. Once I started using bootfoot waders, they get used 80% of my fishing time. The convenient is unmatched, both putting them on and removing them.

You are spot on with your presentation .I wear boot foot waders from fall until spring while steelhead fishing.Much warmer in the feet.I use stocking foot from May through summer trout fishing.Actually I wet wade most of the summer with quick drying pants and my wading boots with studs.

Bootfoots are a must for surf fishing on sandy beaches. Probably the number 2 reason behind warmth.

I just returned my stocking and wadder boots . So uncomfortable with water and sand going inside.

Aren’t boot foot much cheaper because you don’t also have to buy an expensive boot to go with your waders?

Also, it seems like even really high end boots aren't guaranteed to last very long. It's a very common complaint on Facebook groups I belong to.

most boots you wear in water constantly will have its life span shortened considerably 😅

When it's really cold out, boot waders are much warmer!

Great topic. I like both. Stocking for better distance walking, and rugged/slippery river bottoms. I also install flippers over stocking foot for using float-tube in cold water. I like Booted for quick suit-up, and removal, especially with my bad back. If I could only have one it would be stocking foot though. Appreciate your channel. 👍👍👌

Thank you much. I have a few stocking waders but I am thinking to buy the boot type mainly for muddy conditions and thanks for mentioning bad back issues which I have it too.

I'm a big proponent of stocking foot. If you get a bootfoot stuck down in the mud and pull real hard, you can have your foot come out of the boot and you are screwed. Your leg is stuck somewhere halfway up the wader leg and you will easily tip over into the water. With a stocking foot, the outside laced boot might come off but you are still standing and able to walk around while you recover your boot and lace it tighter. If you have ever seen anyone loaded down with decoys or fishing gear and stationary on 1 leg in a mud flat with water up to their crotch you will know that stocking foot is the best.

I have stocking waders because I have not had good luck with boot waders. Also I like that I can screw in my metal cleats when needed.

I fish year round wearing stocking foot and have no problems being cold in the winter. And it gets COLD here! I just upsize the wader a bit and layer up underneath. I like a little baggy wader anyways fits nice and no limit when it comes to mobility
@skateboardingjesus4006
@skateboardingjesus4006 3 месяца назад
Stocking foot for mobility and welly (boot) waders for warmth/convenience. Boot waders have that weak point on the rim because the rubber isn't tapered, instead having a very abrupt transition to the upper material.

Hi Ben and Trident. Had used both many years. Stocking foot and a good quality boot all the way! I had a couple laughs with this video too. Thanks as always.

Thanks for yet another great topic/video Ben. I choice boot foot this time around, the reason for me is the warmth factor. My feet seem to get cold easily no matter what I do and I fish a lot throughout the fall, winter and spring. I’m going to wet Wade through the summer months. Oh the waders I use are Orvis Pro boot foot and haven’t had any issues so far, I really like them.

I’ve had the pro BF and after one year of guide heavy use the only issue is a slight delamination on the left rear boot, aside from that no wetness no leaking

That is awesome info! I’m going on my second season now with my Orvis pro BF without issues. I’m not a guide but I do use mine almost daily for casting practice and lots of all day fishing use. I have no regrets at all.@@user-zu9qw3dj2c

I was going to go back country fly fishing this summer. I was going to wade and wasn't sure if I should pack a separate pair of wading shoes from my hiking shoes. Its about a 6 hour hike to the spot we are going. What kind of shoes/boots do you guys recommend?

If you're like me you ultimately end up with multiple waders. I do like bootfoot waders because they are easier to put on. As an older man with back issues, arthritis in fingers, and a big belly. Tying boot laces is not as easy as it once was. That being said, the light weight stocking foot waders are great when it is warmer, and when you have to walk a good distance to get to the water. I will probably always have a least one pair of bootfoot waders, and they may become my primary the older I get, as I tend to fish closer to vehicle or cabin these days, and they are the best in colder water and days.

I think bootfoot hip waders are underrated. Fairly light and I can wear actual good footwear to hike in and then quickly switch to hip waders for the actual wading.

My boot waders are no wear near a warm as my stocking foot waders, the wellies are freezing, much warmer with my neoprene stockin foot. Its most cold all year in Scotland. It all matters what type of waders you got too ass ther not all same thickness or insulation values

I need something for better rain gear. I am an oil field truck driver and when it storms all the rain gear I have tried sucks. Pants rip getting in and out of the truck, the Tank dikes flood and you need knee high boots..so I was thinking Waders would be an improvement over everyday rain gear.

I can't imagine choosing a bootfoot wader, they're so clunky to me. The choices in wading boots for stockingfoot waders are vast and there are some fantastic desgins. I've been rocking the Orvis Ultralight boots, they just weigh nothing.

Interesting however I think your points are a little flawed. I'm going to have to pack boots anyway so no space saving is made and you can wash them down, just use soapy water and a hose. A better fit...hmmm, just buy a pair that fits well then. Also , the boots I'd have to buy to go over neoprene would have to be larger than my normal ones so I'd have to shell out even more for boots that I can't normally wear. I don't know, I'll try the boot foot I think.
