It's so disheartening the way this seems to ALWAYS happen when a small business gets some success. Cut corners and cut quality, raise prices. It's pure greed, and nothing more. I have one silk cami from Lilysilk that I got about 18 months ago, and it came with a pink eye mask. But I have another black eye mask from Lilysilk that's over two years old and it's like yours, very thick and soft and well made, and came in a very nice gift box with earplugs included. Sometimes it feels like all products across the board are just getting crappier. Late stage capitalism.
This is so helpful. The comparison in quality is important to know about especially because prices have gone up. They sponsor so many youtubers you can't get a proper review. I've had things from them in the past and was thinking about getting something pretty expensive from them this time, thx to you I can now make a balanced decision. Thank you
I think it’s great you made this video Meghan- I have bought a few Cami’s and they are great but I find the sizing is so tricky for my body. Good to know about declining quality I’ll be keeping an eye out for that for sure.
❤️ Thank you Dayle! Their sizing is tricky. I felt like they didn't cater to an hourglass shape unless we size up for an oversized look. I learned to stay away from their dresses in particular.
I noticed the eye masks too! I got one with my last order and just gave it to my daughter to use with her stuffed animals (she has a sleep mask so of course they need one!). There was no padding! Just thin silk!
Thank you SO much for making this review. I’ve never bought from them before. I just put 5 items in the shopping basket. Before I check out, I thought I’d better checking their reviews first. I came to yours, and I totally understand what you were referring about. There are so many RU-vidrs are promoting their items, and they sound so promising! But I had a little doubt so I haven’t checked out for days. I am SO lucky to hear your reviews. Thank you for your honest reviews again! You just saved me $600!
I have been wanting to order a beautiful Christmas gift but at almost $300 for pajamas I have been extremely hesitant because this is astronomical cost. Thanks for your honest review!
Hi Meghan, I also have issues with some of my Lilysilk items. I started buying from Lilysilk about 2 years ago and some of the pieces (especially) the dark colored ones lost its color pretty fast. I don't know how to describe it better, the pieces just lost its shine, the color faded and colorless spots appeared (like the color almost disappeared from these spots and it looks kind of dirty). I machine washed these items using a program and detergent suitable for silk. I think it might be due to poor quality of the dye or incorrect dyeing process. Has this ever happened to you? Another issue I have are the buttons. On some garments the buttons are made of white plastic dyed to the color of the garment and the color kind of peels off of the buttons just a few weeks after purchase. Another think I don't like about Lilysilk shirts and dresses is that they mostly don't have darts which means that they don't fit ladies with bigger chests. Otherwise, there are some Lilysilk pieces I absolutely love and don't have any issues with (I think it's about half the pieces I own). But I definitely won't buy any colored silk items. I might consider buying some silk knit pieces, cashmere or wool.
@@sudhamukhia9860 I did wash it on a low temperature using a program that mimics hand washing and is described as 'wool and silk'. I did hang dry it. I use the same method for my other silk pieces and never had any issue.
I've noticed my dark navy pieces lost some of their depth, and they aren't as dark and shiny now. It wasn't immediate, but over a year or so. I always washed with cool water. I assumed they use cheap dyes because I haven't had this issue with other brands, and I treat them the same.
I do the same. Delicate wash in the machine and flat on a rack to dry. I have put plenty of other silks in the washer and dryer on low heat without any issues 😊
Slip is only $20 or so more expensive per pillowcase and if you aren’t fussy on color you can gat the cheaper than lily silk. Lily silk made sense when they had decent quality products at a cheaper price point. Now their prices are on par more expensive brands it’s not worth it.
I've been buying Quince silk pillowcases, and they are good quality for a reasonable price! Slip pillowcases are a bit more luxurious, but they are more expensive. They are nice if you are looking to treat yourself.
Why are you sorry? The truth is the truth the poducst are not what they should be for the pirce you paid. I am so tired of influencers pusing lily silk and not telling us the wholte truth. I appreciate your honesty.
I checked their site and the prices are quite high for my budget so I went to Vinted to see if I can find something cheaper there form them and I seen made in China and that was a huge read flag for me. So this is how I got to your review:)))) which somehow confirms what I thought initially
Totally agree. There are much better brands at those prices, and sometimes those higher quality pieces go on sale. Shopping secondhand for silk is a great idea! Glad I could help!
I have communicated with them. I believe they currently offer a 30 day guarantee, but they only had their general return policy at the time. I couldn't return used items, and I always wash or steam things before using them.
I have over 30 pieces of the Lilysilk items (from top to the bottom)but I really don’t use them too much but only the pillow case ,mask and underwear that is. The flat sheet feels good but slips out all night long because too slippery . The nightgown ,bra are very uncomfortable because there’s no giving or too tight when I sleep on or wear it. In conclusion, this brand comes from china and also very pricey for what you get!
Such a shame…well they ve got great quality 3 years ago since they established in 2020. They shouldn’t have lost any of the valuable customers… maybe spend too much money on marketing rather than the product itself
It is shame. This seems like a common trend as companies get bigger, they cut back on quality to increase profits. I loved the pieces I bought 3 years ago.
I don't think I am slamming the company. I'm sharing my opinion. As I mentioned in the video, I'm happy with the twin sheet I ordered, but I was disappointed by the pillowcase and clothes. I've shared a lot of positive feedback about the company in past videos.
@@traingirl.meghanThat person must not be used to (or interested in the rare honest reviews reviews) that most ppl sincerely appreciate. In any case, your integrity will grow your channel. You just gained me as a new sub. Thx! 💕
I just bought by Lilysilk for the first time. I like what i bought. The only what dissapointed me is that i paid a lot of money for stuff that is made in China and came from China too. I prefer italian not chinese.
@@joehaddock6059 i know that Italy doesnt produce silk but the shirt is sewn in China too, i would like to see made in Italy of something not made in China
Thanks so much for this. So many influencers are sponsored by Lily Silk, and I’ve never heard one of them show that the quality has gone down so thanks for the unbiased opinion!
LilySilk is one of those youtube brands you only see when the influencers are peddling their wares. I've never seen a youtuber wear one of their pieces when they weren't shilling for LilySilk. I close out the video as soon as I realize they're hawking LilySilk. Not for me.
After seeing so many people rave about Lillysilk I ordered two blouses for Christmas last year. What a disappointment, Poor quality stitching, badly cut items. This was not just pickiness on my part. One arm was significantly narrower than the other. Believe me when I say I don’t have freakishly large arms and yet I couldn’t get my right arm into the blouse. Sent them back and it took weeks and several steps to finally get my money back. Never again.
It seems like LilySilk has had some serious quality control issues in the last year, and I've heard many people say returns were difficult. That's one thing that stresses me out ordering online compared to ordering from a local store. Thank you for sharing your experience!
I am SO glad I saw this. I was about ready to buy 2 more pillow cases. The older ones are the exact size of my pillow and I will only buy zippered ones, so THANK YOU! Another thing about LS is their return policy. I had a return several years ago and evidently they only allow ONE free return. I bought that stripped shirt all the influencers are pushing and it was too big. The CHEAPEST shipping option cost me almost $18! I would rather pay more and get the quality I expect.
I'm glad I could help! Yes, their return policy is very tricky. I've just ordered zippered silk pillowcases from Quince, but they haven't arrived yet. I'll give an update on instagram if they're nice! 😊
How disappointing! 😔 I’ve never ordered from lily silk and probably won’t now. It’s really sad to see the decline in quality, like you said it would have been nice to at least see consistency with the rising prices.
I find everything in the marketplace is declining in quality. From silk to cashmere, polyester, but nobody tells us; they just raise the prices. I suppose it's the times we are living in. The times for good quality are gone.
I would hope so that they don’t cheat😢 Although my cousin is dealing with imported clothes from China, she has boutiques. She told me that when the clothes leave China they have no tag attached to them, basically they give them liberty to put any material content they want. China don’t care. We also have no regulations to check that and make sure it’s legit content. They say it’s %80 silk for example but in reality it’s only 10%. Everything is so corrupt these days 😔
thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. It shows that you are trustworthy. Don't apologize, it's not your fault LilySilk is producing garbage. Thank you for warning us🥰
I ordered a pair of pjs from them and the quality was AWFUL. It didn’t feel luxurious because it was so thin so I returned it. I had hoped it was just the style, but after all you’ve said it’s definitely a brand thing now 😒
It's so disappointing to see this decline! I recently bought pjs on sale from eberjey, and they were really nice if you're still looking for an alternative 😊
I've only ever bought the elasticated silk hair ties from Lily Silk and I didn't think they were anywhere near as good as the Slip hair ties. I think it's worth paying the extra to get things from Slip X
I completely agree. I change my pillowcase 1-2 times per week since I use product in my hair, so I previously liked LilySilk as a more affordable option for extra pillowcases, but now I'll save up for the Slip ones. They have far superior quality.
You can comment your older videos and pin the comment, so it‘s the first one for everyone to read 📌 (oh, you had that idea yourself 👌) I did a collab with Mommesilk and got a pillow case and a blouse. I‘m not an expert on silk, but I absolutely love the two pieces I got (not sponsored but got the products for free, so maybe I‘m bias 😅)
I worked with Mommesilk too - but I have to say I way prefer Blissy - and I have paid for every item I have gotten from them (i've bought 4 king and 6 standard pillowcases) - Mommesilk Pillowcases are a little scratchy in comparison. I did find the Mommesilk pajamas to be very nice feeling though!❤
Thanks for posting this! I was about to order an expensive blouse from them as a special treat. Now I think I will pass. Don't apologize. They should be apologizing for poor quality and making this right!
I see this again and again.. I found out about uniqlo at the time their quality dropped. I find out about lily silk at the time their quality is dropping. It seems that good quality anything doesn't exist anymore
It's so disappointing. I remember Anthropology used to sell beautiful silk clothes 10 years ago. I still have some things. Now most things are polyester, but the prices are still high. It just seems to be the trend with many brands. Maybe they want to cut costs, but it's so frustrating as a consumer trying to make good choices.
@@traingirl.meghan yes exactly. The problem isn't even only that the price is high for the quality, it's also that the brands that you trust and that you used to love let you down, and you don't know where to go instead It's definitely a symptom of inflation, but it seems there are no alternatives, and all goes in only one direction..
I will be honest I think that clothes are not silk but mix of fibers. Propably polyester 😔I waisted money on striped buttom up shirt. It doesnt feel like silk at all 😒
I tested one shirt 3 years ago by burning it because 100% silk burns very differently to a poly blend, and it seemed genuine to me. I can't speak to the new stuff, but I think it would be illegal for them to say it's 100% silk if it isn't. That seems like a big risk to me. When in doubt, I think it's best to order from other brands we can trust!
I think you should know some ways to identify silk, I have tried many times, every time proved to be the real material. I'm just saying what I know, I suggest you try it. I also don't believe that many influencers use fake material...😅
Thank you for the honest review, a rarity in our day and age. I do have lily silk products but from eBay. I don’t mind too much because I paid less but having said that the buttons were not sewn properly and I now have to pay to fix it. I feel like whether it’s luxury or necessity, most things are now more expensive, don’t last long, require your data and waste mos5 of your time. Vivienne Westwood said it well when she said Buy Less, Choose well and make it last. Only problem is that it’s getting harder to choose well with limited options.
Unfortunately this applies to a lot of things today and not just Lilysilk. Whether it's electronics, clothing, appliances etc, their quality just aren't as good as before. It's capitalism at play here, everyone is trying to cut corners and raise prices to make more profit. That's why you are seeing so much polyester crap but they are selling at a fairly high price too. Unless something is done to change this, the quality of things will continue to decline while prices continue to skyrocket
I just bought a 25 momme pillowcase and an eye ask ( was not free). The eye mask was horrible, no filling. It is useless and straight for the trash. Looked like the one you got for free so they do actually sell them. I use sleep masks a lot for my migraines. The pillowcase seemed very thin and not as soft as the silk I know from other places. I do think you should update you old videos. They should not live off old videos when that is not what they sell anymore.
That is so frustrating. They shouldn't charge people for that sleep mask. I decided to add a pinned comment to my old videos saying my opinion has changed and linking to this video.
Glad you made this video, good to hear an honest review - especially with their widespread use of paid campaigns with influencers. Sad that the quality has dropped.
I purchased the trench coat from Lily Silk and returned it immediately. It was so flimsy that the pattern and the structure of even the smoothest knit top stood out right through the coat. The material is just not substantial enough for a coat.
I'm sorry, I'm not as familiar with men's clothing brands. I've been ordering my silk pillowcases from Quince for the last year, and I like them for a budget option. Only downside is they only sell white sheets. My friend loves Lunya, and wears the silk sleep top as an oversized shirt, but I haven't tried them.
I tried Quince because so many people were talking about it, and I'm happy with those pieces so far! I switched to their pillowcases. For the best quality, I usually try to find Vince or Equipment pieces on sale at Nordstrom Rack 😊
I'm sorry, that is so frustrating. I've noticed my dark navy pieces have faded, but fortunately no patchiness. LilySilk seriously needs to figure out quality control.
Thank you for doing this video, I was on the fence about getting some tanks from them once I started hearing how small some of the fits were (I'm an athletic build) and have some silk button downs from other companies that fit perfect and drape beautifully. Like you - I would rather buy quality than waste money on something that will fall apart.
I also purchased a LilySilk eye mask through Amazon because through their website it's more difficult to return in case I'm unhappy with the product. I found the same thing. The mask was very thin. While I liked the shine and feel of the fabric, it was way too thin and unpadded to actually do anything. Plus, it was pressing on my eyes while on because of how thin it was. Needless to say, I returned it. I've purchased some other items though, also through Amazon and I was happy with the quality. Now I say happy because I don't have comparison with items sold previously but I do have the comparison with Intimissimi brand. They do silk items. The prices are not very different but LilySilk fabric is definitely thicker. What I am worried about is actually a pair of trousers they say it's silk but don't really feel like silk. I'm in two minds because they fit me like a dream and for someone 5' tall and slim finding a pair of high waisted trousers that fit, especially in length, is an achievement. I do agree though that their marketing tactics are nasty.
I'm not sure how the sheets compare because I've only ever bought one. The one I have has been nice. I've been buying my silk pillowcases at Quince since I stopped shopping at LS, and I'm happy with them. I like brands like Equipment, Vince, and Joie for silk clothing.
😊I could have, but I wanted to test them out for comparison. Also, I didn't realize the pillowcase was as bad as it was until I used it. They have a "100 night trial" for pillowcases, but that's only if you didn't buy them on sale. They allow one free return for unworn items, and after that the customer has to pay for return shipping. I've never returned anything to LilySilk, but I have heard about issues like people not getting their money back and customer service not responding.
I see, make sense plus it was good to have your review anyway no one likes when brands change they’re way for the worst. Looks like their return policy it’s not great either I tend to favour brands that makes it straightforward and free to return so thanks for these info, very useful😊👍🏻
Great Video! I’ve bought Lilysilk once like 5-6 years ago and then again 2 years ago and the quality has worsened so much. Bedsheet 25 momme broke after 2 years of use and the duvetcover keeps getting knots and thinning out, my pieces from 5 years+ ago don’t have that and their support is trying to gaslight me saying its normal and that it’s my mistake for handling the products bad and washing them wrongly. all they offered was 100euro giftcard for the broken bedsheet i paid 400 euros for! Never again.
Thank you for sharing your experience! That's really unfortunate because the 25 momme sheets are supposed to be on the upper end of quality Lilysilk offers. I hate it when customer service tries to blame your handling, especially when you can compare it directly to their earlier product and know the difference.
That's a tough one. I look up reviews or shop at local department stores with good return policies and customer service. I try to buy thicker silk. The brands Equipment, Joie, and Vince frequently go on sale, and they offer exceptional silk pieces. If the seams are pulling where the thread is sewn into the fabric, that's a sign of poor quality, and it won't last.
I love silk. I wasn't even that familiar with it a few years ago. AND... it has changed, with many companies offering the lightweight 19 momme. 22 momme feels very different Lilly silk runs small. Now it lacks quality control. Thanks for the advice. PS... I love wearing silk around my home too!
I am so disappointed! I recently ordered some cashmere and merino jumpers as a special treat for myself and the quality disappointed me! They look like they would cost 40-50€, they were really thin and looked like average cheap clothes… 😢
Often these companies get attraction and get bought by investment companies or lager companies that just transform them in quick cash cows.. it is really SAD! One tip: please put down on the description box / subtittles the other brands you suggested because it is hard to know... thank you for the update!
It is very disappointing, and we're seeing it more and more. I do have a few suggested brands for silk in the description box, but there is a lot of information in there. I'll try to make it clearer next time. Thanks 😊
I am extremely angry with this companies deceptive practices. I have purchased many items. But let me tell you the deceptive practices come in with their sale codes. If you get monogrammed items this is what the discount is applied. Not the actual items in my case pajamas. So I spend $ 600.00 off I receive an $8.00 discount. This is bait and switch at its finest.
I have purchased 5 or more blouses from Lilysilk. Then I decided to make a major purchase with a navy coat dress. I returned the first one because despite my measurements matching their size guidelines, it was much too small. I reordered the same item having having a professional seamstress take my measurements and paid extra for custom fit. This time the coat dress was 2 sizes too large. The cost was approximately $450. Obviously I have never been able to wear. I have never ordered from lilysilk since then and never will again.
I'm so sorry. That's incredibly frustrating. I've never tried their custom fit options, but you'd expect it to be perfect. Thank you for sharing your experience.
I've bought 2 items from this company, a jumper and a silk shirt. I can only say they were both absolutely lovely and of a good quality and I will definitely be buying again from them.
I think Lilysilk is fake. I purchased sheets and they were horrible. They felt like polyester. I have more expensive brands and the difference is like night and day.
I can only speak for the item I tested years ago, but they were not fake. The quality seems to have dropped significantly. If you're still in doubt, you can always burn a patch.
I purchased sleeping gift box to give to my sister. When she opened it I was actually embarrased because it looked like I found it in sale bin in goodwill. Everything was so crinkly and just felt so cheap I actually doubt it was silk. I am tempted to make fire test tbh. I was very disappointed since that was my first experience with lilysilk
I have a Lilysilk camp shirt (style now discontinued) that tore at the arm vent after three wears. The silk is tissue thin and it ripped away from the seam. I haven’t had a similar issue with another Lilysilk blouse that is of heavier fabric.
I’ve only purchased one item from them so far it was a skirt and it was really beautiful but I guess they’re slacking off in certain areas according to what you’re seeing.
Thx, I have a LS tee from years ago. I've recently lost 10 lbs and the tee fit better. Went on LS to consider another purchase, hadn't decided. You may have saved me $$$. I don't have $ to waste.
Today I received my order of a pleated skirt from Lilysilk. It came in an A4 style envelope and when I took it out it was massively creased. I don't know where to begin to get the creases out especially as creases cut across all the pleats, This garment should have been only folded horizontally and placed in a large shallow cardboard box, not stuffed into an envelope. I paid £219 for this skirt and I am disgusted with the way the company treated its transit to me. This was my first purchase, and need I say it? my last, Your video only reinforces my decision.
I'm glad I could help. If LilySilk wants to charge those prices, they should increase the quality and improve the overall shopping/shipping experience.
For a budget brand, I've been enjoying Quince. I purchased several king sized silk pillowcases, and then I bought a top and a few silk skirts. Equipment and Joie make gorgeous silk pieces. I love their blouses! They are more expensive but very high quality. I typically buy them when they go on sale at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack.
Thank you for being honest. I bought two items from LilySilk this summer. The sizing was completely inaccurate, and the silk was flimsy and cheap. I have bought better real silk for 25% of the cost. Never again.
I'm glad I could help! Their sizing is tricky. I had trouble when buying dresses previously. Same, I've found great deals on high quality silk at Nordstrom Rack!
I have several blouses from a few years ago and I just bought a pleated skirt from Lilysilk. I don't notice any issues and I almost have to wonder if people who are complaining of color issues, etc are washing too often, and with too harsh of chemicals and detergents? I just don't have the problems that they've had and I only see this kind of "dog piling" feedback on click baity negative videos anyway. I have probably two dozen silk tops from Lilysilk, Lily pullitzer, JCrew to Quince and unknown vintage silks. Only one has ever had a spot that I can't remove and that's an old vintage silk top. Considering how many I own and they're from different times, I doubt that I'm just "lucky". Yes, some companies let success get to their heads and get greedy or cut back on quality... but there are just as many times that I've seen people want to drag down a company for getting too big, too fast and they hate sharing their own little secret silk store with the rest of the nobodies. Usually I see this "tearing down" behavior with makeup brands but IDK 😶 I'm just saying.. no quality issues here.
I think it's important to hear every type of review, the good and the bad. That's why I made positive reviews about LilySilk several years ago. It's valuable information for the company so they can be alerted to production issues. I'm guessing the people here who have had color issues are comparing it to their other silk pieces. I'm careful when washing, and I haven't had an issue with my older LilySilk products or silks from other brands. The newer ones have already faded in color.
I wish there were more of these honest videos before I purchased a pillowcase from this company - they are good for the garbage. It lasted one handwash. It ripped immediately after that wash - very thin material and not at all worth the cost. I too learned that SLIP makes far superior quality pillowcases that are soft and thicker - and wash well and they have sales on great gift boxes.
Sorry, I'm not sure. I've ordered two silk pillowcases from Quince, but they haven't arrived yet. Hopefully they're nice! I'll share my first impression on instagram. A few creators I interact with recommend Mommesilk, but I haven't tried that brand.
