African humor is different. An African can recognize this as laughing about how conservative Mama Ojo is, and see the irony in that she is played by a cisgender man even if they don't know what cisgender means. A westerner would be siding with whoever was the authority figure and think she was acting appropriately, or that the message of the show was that she was right, because these things are too attached to hierarchy. So this is why I tell Africans either be helpful or leave the issue alone. Right now, there is too much nazi activity online around this issue, so we have to be very careful not to give ammunition to "white" supremacists.
