His reaction towards the guy saying "we want to make a machine that can perfectly draw what humans can" was priceless. And very relatable.

Watching this after he said the boy and the heron would be is last film and now he's saying that he has more ideas, it is quite funny, this man is a fantastic definition of workaholic. Even now, after everything, he just cant stop

I love that he hates the Let It Go song. He said “self satisfied people are boring. That you have to push hard and surpass yourself” how true that is. And in a culture of adults acting like children, I can only assume he’s disheartened at what the world is becoming.

Well, we know by now that "The boy and the Heron" won't be his last film. What an insane, yet inspiring man hahahaha. I ADORE the creations of him and his team. These movies are more than just a story. They seem almost alive. They are a feeling we all have felt. They aren't one-sided nor clishee

when he dies I will feel like a dear friend has passed. his works mean the world to me. It makes me want to live and continue to create. He truly is the best the human species has to offer. Him, Moebius, Mozart, Beethoven.....just creatures of wonders and epic beauty. ❤

The one thing about this documentary that I always remembered is the scene where Hayao witnesses Ai artwork being done and he's disgusted by it. Just the thought of Ai being done to create what humans had to strive for in years and years of learning and teaching is really unpleasant to think about. Felt like a slap to Hayao and all the work he's spent his life, as well as his colleagues, doing day by day.
@mirrormoonart
@mirrormoonart Год назад
I think it also had to do with AI not having a "spirit" or something unique to life, whether it's humans or other creatures, and how it lacks real emotions and compassion. This is one of the biggest reasons why the movements in his films feel real and full of life. I was actually surprised that they chose to show the zombie example to Miyazaki. If they really understood who he was, they would have known that it was a bad move...

It's fun to think that as he retired here once more, he came back again and finished a massive project The Boy And The Heron, which I will see next week. The reviews have been great and even now at 82 he's starting another project!

Watching this after seeing The Boy and the Heron/How do You Live hits different. I mean, the fact that the movie came out at all almost seems like a miracle. Can only hope he felt accomplished after it was finished. I tried to find interviews from him about the film, but couldn't find anything. Fr most of this documentary, Miyazaki seemed profoundly unhappy despite acting like he was at peace with everything. It was nice to see him being willing to work with the CGI animators to create his short film. But I did not realize that the infamous segment of Miyazaki destroying that dude over the unsettling AI CG animation of the "human" came from this documentary. Though the guy was right in that AI can replace humans when it comes to animation. It's come along way, but I still take Miyazaki's side even though he was pretty brutal to that poor guy. I also think they couldn't have picked a more worse example to showcase AI animation, like what the hell were they thinking showing Miyazaki that. I wonder if any kinda documentation happened during the production of How do You Live. WOuld love to see a documentary over it

9:30 i feel bad for that guy "do you live without thinking?". As an animator who also works with a Japanese boss, I can relate to that guy. However, don’t dwell on every failure; instead, see it as a part of the learning process. Keep pushing forward and improving.

We try to learn from the mistakes of the past. However, the evaluation of past success changes depending on the times. Is the kindness that we advocate really kindness? Are bad habits that we think of really bad habits? Magic begins when people are passionate about something. However, I believe that self-conflict and conflict with society that occur in the process of growing it are inevitable. When the geniuses who have gone through it expect something from you, they are relentless. But their anger is not just emotional, it has a reason.

Maybe he just wants them to be better at those things; yes, he's like being rude in here, this kind of situation is common among individuals or groups who are highly motivated and ambitious. Maybe it's because this is how he trains his successors. In order to continue the legacy he started, they will carry it on even when he is GONE.
