Woahhhhh MATE... that song is RIDICULOUSLY hard to play. That travis picking is something i haven't been able to get right yet 😅 you absolutely smashed it. Sounds amazing as always buddy 😍
I've been learning to play this song for over 30 years and still can't get past the first bar. And to then think about singing as well, well that just hasn't worked out too well either. Thank the internet for people like you who come along and show the world how things are done. Quite beautiful. Thank you.
Thank you indeed. It was one of the hardest songs I have played for sure and took a lot of time, perhaps over the space of two years. I find playing just before sleep really beneficial; come the morning some things just click into place. Don't give up, or perhaps try some simpler stuff until you can come back to it.
Hey man I totally agree with you that playing before sleep is really beneficial for connecting your mind to the task. It's quite amazing what the brain can accomplish for you as you sleep. For a simple example, try doing a crossword puzzle before you sleep and then returning to it in the morning. All of a sudden you easily seem to know a whole load more answers to the questions that you didn't know before you went to sleep. Learning new stuff on the guitar is the same. Play it, sleep on on it, play it better. I'm old now so won't really be improving upon what I can (or mostly can't) play now but it's still a pleasure to see and hear how well people such as yourself can play and sing songs that really are genuinely difficult to play. Much appreciated. @@MattyTwigg
Take it slowly, and practice the picking pattern with easier chords. I also had been at it for a couple decades, and this was the year I finally got it. There's a part in Landslide where he does the same pattern, but with easy C and Am (...oh I'm getting older too...) Focus on the right hand without thinking about your left. You'll get it quicker than you think, and then you can focus on tackling those stretchy chords without worrying about the picking. I think yhink you'll pick it up real fast.
Yes indeed! @@Planktilious1 so true, I've done similar things with writing music, being stuck on a verse and over night, it seems to work itself out. Lots of examples of this. Fascinating
Matty!! This was fantastic!! I also love your sassy denim jacket! Looks like it was a great day for filming in the forest. I bet the trees liked listening to the fleetwood 🌳🎶
First video I've seen from yourself, was prescribed by RU-vid as I've been searching a lot of Fleetwood Mac covers recently. This wasn't only the tightest but the most beautiful and in time I've heard it. Noticed your subscriber count.... You deserve more. 10/10, genuinely exceptional. Keep up the uploads I'll check your other videos and send people your way. All the best.
Phenomenal! I've never heard a better cover of this song. I got my first guitar lesson from "Uncle Lindsay" who was my babysitter's (Aunt Stevie) boyfriend next door when I was 9 years old. They were about to join some English rock band at the time...
Once again you put out something that is so hard to troll, however! This lovely natural light has me thinking you ate much taller than I thought a RatBag could be with better finger dexterity too.
I've been learning this for the past few weeks (hence the video in my recommendations lol), learning the chorus part higher up on the neck, but then I noticed you had the new-ish solo in there too. What tab did you learn this from? @@MattyTwigg
That's some serious dedication! You have my respect, sir :) You might be able to change the tunings for your tab somewhere in the labyrinth of menus lol. Will definitely be incorporating this new section into my playing, thanks so much! @@MattyTwigg
The audio isn’t from the Canon camera is it?!? Didn’t see mics listed but it sounds really good. I also don’t see a pickup or lapel mic or anything 🤔. Anyways killer job like everyone else been busting my ass learning this, getting close. Helps that I’m a drummer for that Travis picking but nowhere close to you here. 🤘🏻
Thank you and all the best on getting it down, it's just perserverance I think and playing before sleeping, at least for me... I used a B-1 Behringer and AKG SE 300 B, CK91 to record the guitar and vocals together but the audio is separate and has been processed... 👀
@@MattyTwigg makes sense; nice mix too. The album has a TON of reverb on it. Also- interesting tip on playing before sleeping I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for the reply - any plans to do more LB work? Like the chain, big love, landslide? If so, skip landslide 😁, has been overcooked farther than grandmas Christmas ham.
I do a version of Big Love live, might do that one sometime... also pretty tricky to get the knack of... oooh and The Chain... Yeah, the playing before sleeping thing is kinda a magic trick for me... I've tried a song in the evening, struggled, only to wake up in the morning with it much more fluid and together... like my brain works it over in my sleep... @@jteixeira8725
So, it may be slight cheating, but I perform the song with mics in my home studio first and then play the recording as I am filming. I still play the song along to it but the audio can then be produced and is cleaner...
Yes indeed, so that I am in time with the recording. Sometimes I just have it on my phone speaker, loud enough to hear while I play. There have been some occasions I record the performance first and then back in the studio add things but it's much cleaner the other way around I think. @@braintwang
I think you need to be very good, practice a lot to get everything in sync ... I have tried a few times and because I don't practice much or at all these days and with my age I sometimes forget the chords and/or lyrics ... still all my stuff is for fun and to see how far I could take after the band broke up and a few died ... anyway cheers and yes, a cracking version .. thanks Matty
thank you kindly and quite right @@BraveheartOBM . I actually tried to play it again the other day and was not as fluent as when I practiced it hard for the video, and had also forgotten some sections! Sorry to hear about your band mates, that's sad indeed
Awwwww wonderful. My brother lent me his Standard S6 and it's got a much fuller sound than the CW Folk. Underrated indeed and excellent value for a solid top @@williamlarmour8431
I don't know how RU-vid does this but occasionally I get to discover a little gem - like this one .... amazing talent - fantastic cover of one of my favourite songs. 👍
