Thank you Mr Marisco. I believe it must be very difficult for you to film Teeny's daily struggle for survival as it seems she must, as it is for veiwers to watch. You once asked if it was futile, I have always believe if there is life, there's Hope which cancels out futility. This is hard but if Teeny can struggle for life. Then the only support I can offer is to be a witness of it and hope she makes it.
Teeny gives no mind to anything going on in the background.. Vicious fight in her troupe, crazy loud noises etc she was In her own bubble foraging away! 💜
Teeny walking along bobbing for crumbs reminds me so much of Tiny. He use to do the same thing. They look like a little plastic toy bird that dips it's head for food. All we can do is hope and pray she makes it. I keep reminding myself that Tiny made it so hopefully she will too. Poor, sweet baby.

This one’s only alive because she’s determined to forage (more so than the average 7 mo old since she’s barely ever had milk). If she’s swallowing everything she may make it, but anything stored in her pouches is going to mommy dearest.
So sad she can't be like the other babies and play instead of constantly needing to hunt for food to survive because of her mother and family stealing so much food right out of her mouth. Heartbreaking.
Its sad that even if u were able to sneak food to Teeny she wouldn't be able to keep it. Wish she would eat til she was stuffed and not put in her pouches.
If you sneak it food and the others see not only will they take it they'll hurt it and could kill it. Some of the VOs who do it for the clicks donut all the time to create drama and it's killed a few. Taking food out of its pouches would be the least of its worries.

There is no way to understand why Tina steals her babies food. Yet Tiny, and little Teeny, have an intense will to survive. I remember Tiny clamping his jaw shut to keep Tina out. Time will tell if our precious Teeny survives. I've watched babies struggle to thrive for 40 years now, and I'm still in awe of their tenacity. In the face of every obstacle, life finds a way. The only way I can make sense of Tina's behavior is like this. Set Teeny aside for a moment and think only from Tina's point of view: Tina herself is starving and she's got a bigger body to fuel and a baby to carry and nurse (if she's still producing any milk). She's not getting any food herself, even less than Teeny because Teeny can go in with the others when there is food but Tina can't. Tina has been stealing from her kid's mouths for a long time. With Tiny though, he was left on his own a lot and could forage. Sometime fairly recently, in the past month or two, Tina fell into a habit. Teeny would take off and join higher ranking troop members to forage or find food left by feeders and they'd let her join in while Tina had to wait on the sidelines for her turn. When Tina could join or she and Teeny otherwise met up, Tina took some of Teeny's morsels as she'd done before. She (Tina) was just so hungry she couldn't help herself. Over time while on the sidelines Tina began to pay closer attention and when Teeny had some food she scooped her up. All she could think about was getting something in her stomach and she couldn't stop herself. This became a habit. At first it was her only way to get anything to eat, but she began to associate this chain of events with getting food. It's to the point that now that even if there's food right there Tina could get for herself, she just takes it from Teeny out of habit. That's my hypothesis for how Tina could go from a loving, attentive caring Mom who occasionally stole food from Tiny and Teeny to what she's turned into now. I don't think this was some evil plan she cooked up, I think she stumbled into a way to get a little relief for her own hunger and the hunger has made her lose all perspective. Looking at Tina as a starving animal herself who doesn't want or mean to hurt her child, I can't hate her, in fact I want to help her too. It must be awful to feel hungry all the time. I sure hate the impact on Teeny of course. I fear this habit Tina's developed won't go away and she'll continue it with any future kids she has. If this hypothesis is correct it would take something drastic to change her behavior - physical separation from Teeny, at least while Teeny eats, or some direct and probably harsh discipline from an alpha or high ranking troop member who witnesses Tina stealing and sends her a clear message it is unacceptable. Maybe it's worth a try for Arroz to give food to both of them at the same, while he somehow gestures/communicates that Tina gets treats only if Teeny gets to eat all of her treats herself. As arroz has noted both of Tina's hands need to be occupied and perhaps Arroz could position himself between them to prevent Tina from taking Teeny and running off. If they were secluded away from other troop members [I can't believe I'm going to say this] he could even pick up Teeny up and hold her until she's finished eating. These are my daydreams anyway. How many of us would volunteer to help by holding Teeny? me, Me, ME! How quickly human intervention slides into a slippery slope...! For now, hurry up Spring! Hurry up berries and flowers and seeds and nuts and grass and plants, hurry up, hurry up so Tina AND Teeny can eat all they want! [Sorry Picket Fence and others for the long train of thought, wasn't planning on all this, it just spilled out!]

Arroz, can Tina be guided to the feeding cage? She and Teeny could eat there and yes, Tina would be sterilized but at this point I think that's best. (Normally I would not be in favor of deliberately ending any female's chance at future babies). But Tina has unfortunately discovered this horrible, horrible way to survive by using her baby. I think Teeny's only real chance is to be separated from Tina long enough to grow big and strong enough to ward her off when she (Teeny) has food. Teeny does still need protection and love and I'm not sure who could care for her if not Tina. Until fairly recently Tina was pretty good at that but she can't be trusted around Teeny with food. Unless perhaps the matriarch or a high ranking female sees Tina stealing and disciplines her enough for her to learn not to. It's very hard to watch Tina these days although I don't hate her either. She is starving herself and is just trying to survive, and monkeys don't have a moral compass nor are they able to feel empathy like us, so I don't think Tina realizes how awful her behavior is and how hungry Teeny feels. I really don't know how Teeny has any energy at all. I love that little baby so much and wish I could do something to help her.
Leslie I believe some monkeys do understand. If you look at Grandee he’s constantly sharing food with some of babies in his Troop and recently Kailey who’s daughter to a lower ranking female Gypsy (I believe). There’s a morale compass built into some of these animals as I’ve seen moments of sympathy from them, Tinas morale compass is way off as from what another viewer on her has said before, _”She’s just using Teeny as a lunchbox.”_
If you believe they don’t have a morale compass they why do you think an alpha female would discipline Tina for stealing from her baby. I mean no disrespect and totally feel the frustration and wish something would be done too 😊
@@whodahellru8124 Good point about Grandee, and I was thrilled to see Kailey there! Arroz sure delivered some good news right when we needed it, didn’t he? What I mean about Tina is I don’t think she (or any animal) has malicious intent, I don’t think she is deliberately trying to starve Teeny even though that is the effect of her behavior. She is definitely more selfish than Grandee, but as an alpha Grandee can afford to be generous, he’s always well fed or at minimum the best fed in the troop. He didn’t suffer at all by sharing, whereas Tina is starving herself, and I believe the instinct for self preservation is very strong and hard wired. Humans can decide to sacrifice for another like their child, but I don’t think animals have the ability for that kind of complex thinking, to understand a sacrifice is necessary to save their child, decide to do it, then follow through with the necessary actions and suffering required. So I see Tina as unable to override her self preservation instinct. Obviously I think way too much about all this and I’m no expert. I can’t stand to see what Teeny’s going through but at the same time I can’t hate Tina. I can’t watch her in Teeny’s mouth anymore though, it’s just too awful.
Leslie : There is a video of Tiny also taking the food out of Teeny mouth. I believe it is a learned behavior and poor Teeny gets the brunt of it. Both her mom and her brother steal her food.
Oh Arroz..you are a better person than I am.. I know Tina has probably had a hard life and i get what you said about good and bad mothers..but she is STARVING her baby by stealing the small scraps that Teeny works SO hard to get..oh i so want her to survive.. if she can hold on until the spring when the berries and flowers come then she can put a bit of weight on and tell her greedy mom to DO ONE !!! It breaks my heart to see her work so hard to try to survive..this little one has true grit and courage she deserves life after fighting so hard.. at least Kailey had Aunt Rudy to look after her .no she didn't get much milk or love from her mom but she had love and protection from Rudy who showed her how to forage..she has done well. she is still small but in a much better place than lil Teeny..please god watch over this little fighter. Another strange thing I’ve as far as Teeny is that not only does her fingers and toes stay curled up when she walking. Her tail also stays straight out like a pin! Never seen any of the other monkeys walk like that.
Being now, nourished and human babies, it doesn't stop growth in anyway, but being malnourished does stunt your growth and development. It affects your development.

The problem is that this not nature....this is animals trying to survive in a man made environment. If it was nature, they would not need feeders. Be nice if man could be part of the solution instead of creating the problem for once.
She's too small to prevent Tina from scooping her up. Tina keeps an eye on her, as all good mothers do, but I have to wonder if she's also now watching for when Teeny has food.

I think a lot of commenters have lost sight of the fact that she is a WILD ANIMAL. Not all of them make it. These suggestions of feeding her cheese (monkeys are lactose intolerant) and other human foods, or even STEALING HER to fatten her up are madness. Absolutely insanityz
To Tina, baby monkeys are restaurants - delivery service included. It'd be one thing if some of what got delivered was turned into milk, but her milk bar appears to have a malfunction.
Teeny needs liquid calories. 🥛 Like Milk on the ground while tossing food to others so she's left alone long enough to drink/swallow. Anything that she has to eat and not pouch. Maybe even very mushy ripe banana? Something Tina couldn't pull out so easy. Everything else takes too long for Teeny to chew. Edit: shortening this comment.
I’ve seen on the vervet foundation that they have feeding stations for orphaned babies. It’s basically a cage with an opening small enough for a baby to crawl into and nurse from a bottle that’s secured inside out of reach from older yearlings and adult monkies. Milk is the only thing Teeney is going to be able to get that Tina can’t from her. I love that you respect their hierarchy and _try_ to help out the lower ranking members within reason, but Teeney’s situation is dire and I’d be willing to help to see her survive in the wild.
What about a feeder box ? A box you can drop and put some food in it and the hole to get in the box is just big enough for teeny to get in and out but not anyone else . She can go in and eat until she wants to come out . It may take a couple trial runs to get it right but I bet it could work

This is a sad situation for Teeny. However, as much as we wish Tina would leave her alone, that is not going to change. Teeny pays a tax for being carried around, protection, and Tina’s version of love. Without Tina, Teeny probably wouldn’t have made this far.
I wonder if some of the monkeys have figured out feeders will give to the smaller babies so they either grab them for show or have them at all, keeping them on the brink of death as an enticement to get food for themselves. Tina looking in teeny's mouth says so.
Teeny reminds me so much of Tiny at this age, roaming around searching for any tiny scrap to eat. I hate to see a mom plunder their baby's pouches for crumbs but that is the monk way. Moms need to eat to produce milk for baby and the crumbs she get may help them both. She was the same way with Tiny. And it's the monk way. If baby eats and mom doesn't mom may die and then baby will die too. There would be no protection or nourishment for baby. And if baby dies mom and have another baby. It's a sad way.
Tina has the cutest tiny babies but she needs put on the bad momma list with gypsy. I pray for teeny and I hope she survives. I get so upset watching her take the hard earned food she works so hard to get.
She’s lost so much weight it breaks my heart. Why oh why can’t she just swallow after every bite. Monkeys are very smart so i wonder if it’s just hardwired into them to store food and that’s why she doesn’t swallow or if she just hasn’t figured it out yet.

Yep, unconditional love .....Teeny must think it’s normal for mom to steal baby’s food out of mouth....disgusting, Tina is plain lazy , she tried to hide from camera but she knows it’s shamefully wrong, but sadly her kids most likely will repeat habits history ....other low rank moms don’t do it so hunger isn’t an excuse. This little angel is an inspiration to us humans as well.

The only way poor Teeny is going to get any nutrients is if you slip Tina a Mickey. That would solve 2 issues. With Tina asleep, Teeny can actually eat. Secondly, it would make Tina wary of ripping food from Teeny's pouch. I think a benadryl would work perfectly. Stick it in a piece of fruit or veg. Maybe in a bun. Teeny will have no chance unless there is a way to discourage her mother from stealing from Teeny's pouch.
Yes Arroz you are so correct and that’s what makes it so hard to even take Teeny from her mom. No matter how much you show her love, warmth and provide food a wild monkey will still prefer to be with their mom. Tina has already been imprinted on Teeny. The stress it will cause poor Teeny to be away from her mom would be unbearable to watch but also seeing her going through this is unbearable.it really quite sad. What an ethical/moral dilemma to think about....
I know we shouldn’t humanize our feeling towards monkeys but I truly hate watching Tina. She comes and grabs Teeny when she thinks she may have picked up food, yet lets larger monkeys dominate and drag poor Teeny 😢. I think this is the ONLY time I would actually say it would better to take Teeny home with you.
@Elite Soulfly We're all coming up with ideas that violate our normal beliefs. I'm against human intervention too and just came up with an idea that has Arroz holding Teeny while she eats. We all want to help this precious girl so much. Must be a thousand times harder for Arroz to see all this in person especially since he's done so much to help the most vulnerable monkeys. Such a good hearted man.
I feel so sad about Teeny and I’m very afraid that she won’t make it for it’s not only the mom who takes everything from her even her siblings and aunts do the same to her. She would much better with out them. She is so little and see very unhealthy for seven months old monkey 🐒 baby. She should be taking from her mother for some time and just let her eating and get healthy and then she can see her mom again. Please it must be someone who can help her then please help her.👍🙏🏻🥺🥺🥺
Arroz, Teeny reminds me of baby Heidi. Is it lack of nutrition that stunts their growth, or something more? Heidi reminded me, and now Teeny does too, of someone with RA. The big eyes, the tiny curled fingers, the slow, deliberate, and slightly stiff way she walks. Teeny actually looks healthier than Heidi did, but that could just be her coloring and fur. I hope she not only survives, but flourishes.
Arroz, would their be a friend willing to take Teeny home for a few weeks and restore her? I think from a nurses stand point her continual survival is in question and certain long term effects are in play. She barely has the strength to run and shows signs of dehydration which maybe why she stores food, unable to swallow much at a time.
Teeny gets shoved off her mom and doesn't protest. She's happy for a chance to look for crumbs. She knows that's probably all she'll get. She just pushes on. We can all learn from her. Go Teeny, Godspeed!!!!!!

can they eat cottage cheese or mascarpone cheese something along those lines? if so throw tina beans to forage and than a sweet potato or corn cob and plop some cottage cheese right in front of teeny she will swallow that without really storing it. top it with small orange or banana pieces. another thing, it seems in skull heads troop there doesn't seem to be any baby sitters helping. gypsy abused kailey but the troop often stepped in and i feel gypsy was punished for it, she often tried to hide it, she would look around before doing it. the dynamics in bossy's troop seems more organised and systematic for the strength and survival of the troop. skull head could care less and it shows. teeny is nothing but a tool for tina to get food and its so heart wrenching!
You know the thing that would really solve Teeny's problem is to be adopted by one of the high ranking females. I don't know what has to happen to trigger that, but a high ranking female that lost a baby or would take her as a second baby would do the trick.
She needs catching and feeding up and taking her back when she’s put on some wait love her she’s a proper fighter and deserves a break I really hope she makes it to adulthood but her family are definitely not helping her 😢😢😢😢💔💔💔💔💔💔💔xxx

tina has learned to use teeny as a food source i hate watching this but i want to see teeny prevail in the end hopefully when the berries are ready she will have her chance i love that little girl my heart aches for her
If you feel Teeny benefits (however little) from your goodies, please go for it. As a viewer it is impossible to make that call. You would know what is the best for Teeny.
Can someone take such a little monkey, who is in obvious peril, and move it to a shelter similar to the Vervet organization? And then restore it to health, and release it back into the wild?
I would grab Teeny and run all the way home and give her all the food her little body could eat. It’s so heart wrenching to see what her mother does to her. I just wanna take her baby from her and then smack Tina. I wish there was more you could do. But I know it’s difficult as long as her mother is around. Thank you
It really makes me angry watching what Tina did to Teeny. Normally i think we should keep out of the wild animals business but in this case there's a big part of me what thinks that Tina really needs sterilising, to prevent her from being able to keep doing it to even more babies.
Even other monkeys watch teeny so sweet, so pitiful. Tina think she’s smart hiding back in the trees. I bet every wound Tina gave her for refusing to open her mouth or older sister... was it her older sis tried to shake and strangled her? Nipping her cheeks. Tiny screwed his mom all he had because she took his food too he could not build relationships with his peers, he knows what his mom does and she’s not right in the head. When u caught him robbing teenys mouth I cried he knows that was wrong m! He watched a brother starve, now this cute lil sis he should be protecting is scrounging m, has not made friends. Sad eyes and your helping! Mom should have been teaching you where to find food when u do need to rely on the land. She did none of that. The alpha will tell u to go and you’ll get hurt or killed stealing another monkeys food, they will see who your mom shaped you to be. Be a big brother help find and feed your sister don’t steal from her. Just a couple episodes after this Tina tried to pry tiny’s mouth open he pulled away if looks could kill.
