Please!!! Only respond in English or Dutch! Thanks for your understanding! Never marry a railroadman shocking blue, mariska veres, robbie van leeuwen, cor van der beek, klaas van der wal and leo van de
I was a child in Monterrey, North Mexico and I liked this song very much, I never knew who the singer was, and now more than 35 years later I got a very nice surprise, finding this song and her beautiful performer. Beauty Mariska...also your name is nice.
Mariska was NOT Hungarian, she was born and raised in The Hague (Netherlands) only her father was hungarian and her mother was Dutch (Netherlands) But you are right when you say she was lovely and Beautiful! I love her too! (i am from Holland0
As an American, I've always thought of Shocking Blue as a one hit wonder. I now know I was wrong. Great vocals and music. So sorry to learn that Mariska is gone.
She was one of the most beautiful women of the rock era and one of the coolest dressers. A very, very underrated group. Sad, many people just know "Venus."
This band is awesome. I own their twenty greatest hits and love every song on it. She is underrated as a vocalist. One of the best female vocalists of all time.
I much prefer vinyl, in fact I think CDs recorded from vinyl sound better than the "Official" ones. There are new Vinyls of their first 3 albums? I will definitely look into that - thanks for the info! =)
Ich liebe "SHOCKING BLUE" bis heute und habe noch diverse Singles von denen. Danke für das Hochladen ! Leider lebt die Sängerin nicht mehr ! Sie war mein Jugendschwarm...................
@zotvic,Frederico222,orosznelly, father was hungarian, mother was born in germany from french/ russian parents(source wikipedia) BTW,during the late 60's,early 70's the socalled ''NEDERPOP''- music was at his top with bands like earth and fire, pussycat, Golden Earring, The Motions, Cuby and the Blizzards, tee set, Q65, ect,ect...... at that time I was somewhere around 10 years of age and my older brother stuffed this music through my throat.......
A really great single. Mariska Veres had real star quality. A great top forty rock act of the late 60's to 70's. I love this band. - Paul Hooson, Editor Wizbang Pop
GREAT clip, thanks! I'm really getting into The Shocking Blue now. I've always Loved "Venus", but man ALL their stuff Rocks! I wish I could find their albums on vinyl, but they're about as rare as an honest politician here in America. And yea, Mariska is pure Enchantment Personified!
YO VIVO ENAMORADO DE MARISCA VELEZ, QUE HERMOSA ALEMANA, NO HE VISTO MUJES MAS HERMOSA QUE ELLA, CON ESA POTENTE VOZ Y ESA DELICADA FIGURA FEMENINA ADORNADA CON ESA SEDOSA CABELLERA NEGRA, LASTIMA QUE NOS DEJO EN 2006 VICTIMA DEL CANCER, SIN LUGAR A DUDAS UNA CANTANTE DE LAS MEJORES DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS
The groups that were the greatest somehow in analog had the best mixes of vocals and instruments. I can in my ears pull out each part. The Beatles also did this and in the midst of loud crowd noise. The amps were adjusted individually and the volume was just right. This is a great song and group. Thanks , The old rocker
I agree. Very hot woman with an incredibly sexy voice to match. On Venus, she was singing about herself in my opinion, even if it wasn't officially about her. I'm 50% Hungarian myself. Her Hungarian half is where she got those dark, sexy looks she was blessed with. This woman was striking.
I love you Maria Elizabeth Ender, today I wanted you, and I came to see you, and I continue to love you from the first day I met you, I just want to tell you, wherever you are I continue to love you despite being almost 5 years younger than you, Right now, I'm crying for your absence, I love you, Alejandro Yañez, from Hermosillo, Mexico. RIP amen. Mariska Veres.
You're very welcome, and thank YOU for helping to keep their great music going strong, by introducing them to potential new Fans! :) I guess I'll get their albums on MP3 from Amazon, they are pretty inexpensive, and will hold me over til I can track down the LPs. I think I'll get "Scorpio's Dance" first, it contains 5 of my huge favorites, "I Love Voodoo Music", "Little Cooling Planet", "Deamon Lover" "Send Me A Postcard", and "Mighty Joe" - wow, what record! =)
I still have them all. The vinyl records of Shocking Blue. The greatest band in Holland ever. Next saturday (tomorrow) there wil be a documentary about this band on Dutch tv.
Basically in the beginning Robbie van Leeuwen ( the guy on lead guitar) wrote the songs and was considered to have the best command of English. He had to run through the lyrics with Mariska. Robbies English wasn't perfect either though. This is why the first line of 'venus' has 'godness' instead of goddes. Mariska picked up more and more English over time so it's inaccurate to say she spoke no English ever. After Robbie left Mariska also wrote lyrics.
Why... "react only in Dutch or English please. I am not a translation machine. " ??? everybody doesn't speck english or dutch but everyone has right to write here too !!! Super chanson d'une époque que j'ai adorée !
gheghe yeah it was the age of playback and miming xD But i think our Dutch accent is not that bad, and anyway in a song it doesn't stand that much i think. If i compare it with the dutch engineers i hear babeling on discoverrychannel...
Leo van de Ketterij;nog een kennis van mij uit Vlissingen. ook Ceesje Meerman kwam daar vandaan. Veel talent in de Delta en dat zelfs door de eeuwen heen!
I found a near mint LP of The Shocking Blue today! It's a compilation that dates from the '80s - not as cool as finding a first pressing of "Scorpio's Dance" would be, but ANY vinyl from them is a rare treasure here in the US.
I will switch the word "beast" for something else, something more accordingly to her beauty. Can be something more sophisticated like" she was a goddess singing". What do you think? Regards
