Never owned a NES before! | NES unboxing and setup
Despite being a huge 8bit gaming fan I've never owned a NES! I took a chance on an untested eBay listing and got it for a good price. Let's see if it works as it should and if I can figure out how it works!

So I'm looking for comments and suggestions on what essential games I should be looking for. I'm open to getting Famicom carts and a converter as these should play on a 50Hz PAL unit and are often cheaper. Let me know below 😀

The legend of Zelda is a classic, but if you want something iconic because of the franchise like Mario or Metroid, I say one of the Ninja gaiden games is a go to game, really fun and cool

With the sound on, you looked happier than a kid on Christmas morning. I'm happy it worked better than the Mega drive. Maybe a 2 player battle?

I was going to say the say sort of thing. It's always nice seeing people happy with a punt.

I know UK 80's kids didn't get a nes, it was a Sega Master System, a ZX spectrum, an amstrad cpc, commodore 64, BBC Micro, commodore Amiga, or Atari St. Maybe even a Dragon 32 or some lesser known 8 bit micro, but here in the United States and maybe even canada, an Nes for a kid in the U.S. in the mid to late 80's and early 90's was a right of passage growing up! Glad your enjoying it! Watching you play super Mario Bros is like if someone had filmed me playing manic miner on the spectrum for the first time! I can't get enough of it! I love super Mario Bros. 2 the most! Our u.s. version, not the Japanese one! Enjoy your journey of discovery on the Nintendo! Very cool!

Now THAT's how you pack a package indeed. It could easily be on the bottom of a 6" pile of packages and easily survive as drop from the same hight. You'll love the NES, it has some great games on it.

I'm sure I will. Yes very impressive packing and the fact that it works without a hitch is a big bonus! Now to find some quality games that won't break the bank 😂

I really hope you have some great times playing on the NES. You've already played Batman and Mario 1. No doubt you may have emulated ROMs but there's something really nice about a real NES.

Yeah I'd like to start building a collection and playing on real hardware.

I love the fact that it’s considered “fragile” by the previous owner!! It must be in great condition!! No work, just play!! ... With a game too!! ... WoW look at that!!

The NES is such a great system. It's never too late to get into it. Actually nowadays is the best time since all the hardware kinks are well documented and can be easily repaired. They're built like tanks too.

Yes I'm looking forward to getting stuck in. In the UK the NES was not big at all so it really passed me by at the time.

If you’ve only just got the NES, I’d probably just invest in a flash cart. As for games, I was a Sega kid, so... Castlevania? BTW, the original PSU’s are pretty bullet proof.
@RetroRecollections
@RetroRecollections 5 лет назад
Yes that's must definitely an option. I was weary about the PSU not having much experience with them (although it looks pretty much like the SNES PSU I had in the 90's) but yeah, it's very good and I didn't realise the NES was not very fussy. AC or DC, it doesn't care! Lol

I can tell your SMB game is running faster than a NTSC NES would. I've heard PAL runs faster, but now I see it for myself.
@RetroRecollections
@RetroRecollections 5 лет назад
Really? PAL 50Hz is supposed to run 17% slower unless I'm missing something?
@radiorob7543
@radiorob7543 5 лет назад
@@RetroRecollections I believe you about the PAL thing. But I've played SMB A LOT, and can tell you its going faster than normal. Normal meaning North America.
@RetroRecollections
@RetroRecollections 5 лет назад
@@radiorob7543 Hmmm maybe it's been optimised for 50Hz but runs a little fast? I'll do some digging as I have frame of reference.

@@RetroRecollections no pal run slower then ntsc but the music is faster then ntsc
@xui4
@xui4 3 года назад
@@RetroRecollections yes the pal ver they make the game faster so if you put it in a ntsc nes it will run very fast
