From the research I've done... You can use IF you use the right one based on if your car is newer or older AND IF you follow the directions to a T. I also read that you MUST do a radiator flush prior or you WILL clog it. So... Maybe it is better not to do it, for most of us, is you can't guarantee to do it perfectly. **Edit: Further research indicates a heater core and thermostat bypass is necessary to avoid problems down the road. * *I don't claim to be an expert* *

@RBTheMechanic
@RBTheMechanic 6 месяцев назад
I’m sure mechanic can find the leak and tell u exactly where it is. And about affording repair might be cheaper than adding leak stopper it will jam up radiator heatore core and other component cause over heat and to fix jammed up stuff can cost up to $4,000 to $8,000 cost if I blow the engine if u can afford propper repair at the moment I would suggest to stop driving the car till u save up and repair it
@oldgamer1330

Oooops! Too late. 😳 Added some to my 2012 Chevy Cruze with a 1.8L engine. Small leak around water pump. i think if you add too much of this chemical in your coolant system it may do the kind of damage he is talking about. You add one container to your cooling system. ONE! If you still have a leak, get it repaired because adding too much of this stuff will make matters worse. This stuff is not meant to be a permanent fix. It's a temp fix until you can get the funds/parts to get it repaired properly.

Forgot to mention the product is not the one you display on the video. It is a dual purpose product. On one side it has the sealer. On the other it has a blue lubricating agent for the water pump.

A smart mechanic would remove the 2 hoses that connect to the heater core and connect them together to bypass it. In the event you suspect it could get clogged. Of course the smart mechanic would first drain the system and save the coolant, (if in good condition) then use clean water and add the stop leak. Run the engine for a while to circulate it through.Once the leak has shown to have stopped, drain the system and flush if necessary then replace with your previous coolant (which I'm assuming contains good anti freeze) or replace with new coolant.Reconnect the heater core and bobs your uncle! If the heater core is the problem and you just want to stop the coolant from leaking everywhere in the compartment or elsewhere then use it without this procedure. The heater core may still work and if not at least the leak has been taken care of.

@jrperrotta Год назад
@@RBTheMechanic Rotation circle? What mumbo jumbo are you talking about? These are not tires! Were talking about fluids! Wake up! If the leak is in the heater core then it doesn't matter if you isolate it while trying to stop it. If its not and can be fixed by isolated from the system then drain the fluid and flush it out, the stop leak will stay in place during this and then replace the fluid and reconnect the heater core back to the system this will prevent any contamination into the core
