I'm so glad you will get the Silver Play Button for 100 K subscribers. No chess video maker on youtube deserves it more than you. There are many good chess channels on youtube but yours is the best.

This was a real thriller of a match. exciting and dangerous play from both. Sad that one of them had to go out but that is chess. Great to see an Indian player in the candidates again, and with four of eight in the quarter finals this is the true legacy of the great Anand. Thanks Daniel

That was a very spicy game. Superb calculation and end game technique by Prag with rook n pawns...made Capablanca smile!

I'm a below average player who needs time to take in every move. So reassured when you said "I'm rattling trough these moves..." I was beginning to feel left behind! This is one to watch twice. Thanks 😃

Center game. Wow. I've seen Nepo and a couple others try it in short time controls. This was a new idea to me, but not necessarily a good one. Maybe, it was psychologically. What a match these two had. Shame, one of them had to lose. I haven't followed the tournament very closely but I think Abasov might be the only player left who hasn't been close to being knocked out? Magnus has not played to his normal standards. Fabi was toast against Dominguez but weaseled his way out of the mess. Maybe this is Pragg's tourney? Can't wait to find out! :)

Such an awesome fighting game thanks for the analysis

What’s incredible is that with Carlsen showing no interest in the candidates, Abasov actually made it there with his incredible performance in the world cup - so did Pragg! This is quite an upset imo

Ciao Daniel, as usual, great analysis. What do you drink during your videos? Water or tea? And could you once let us hear how you play the electric guitar? 😉
@PowerPlayChess

Tea. As for the guitar, it’s difficult to switch from a chess recording to a musical recording in a video.

The great and entertaining Vlastimil Hort (back in the day quite regularly on German chess broadcasts) coined the term: (Dann kann man nur noch) schwindeln. Something like that, with the funny word schwindeln (to humbug, to swindle).

Erigaisi was surely winning at some point. Just like yesterday. He must be really disappointed to have done the hard work and then thrown it away against desperation tactics.

Actually the first two 25+10 were both draws.

@tonysu8860

IMO Prag beat both Nakamura and Erigaisi using simular strategy... Just play D and don't press out of the opening. Both opponents self destructed in efforts to get out of "book" but that only led to positions that had low chances for anything more than a draw and both ended up playing to hard and not evaluating how bad their positions really were. I won't expect the next match or two will be played the same way.
