Fishing with you and your Dad is top on my bucket list. The knowledge one would gain from a day with you two. I really do appreciate all the tips and tricks on bass fishing y’all have put on RU-vid for free. Cheers from Tennessee!
when u picked up on the bait and said it looks like a craw dad in a def. position really made alot of since and the comment on when u cast you get extra few feet under a dock very educational
Soft Plastics are my favorite baits. Love to see more videos on using soft plastics. In all conditions during all different seasons. thanks for the videos. Love them, you have helped in so many ways advance my fishing techniques. Keep them coming.
Great tip. I went old school and used steel shot and just pushed them in and glued them in. That way I could distribute the weigh in different places on the bait. Works really well on large worms.
Scott I've been fishing for 32 years on the st Lawrence I suck as a fisherman but if I find a good spot and a good lure or bait. I do it because I feel I'm helping people. I do it because I want others to enjoy fishing as much as me.
That is wicked Scott I can figure out how to hollow out the bait some may not cam my have to get in closer so they cans se what you are doing thanks for the awesome video chief Canadian Phil
Hey Scott. I'm a big fan brother I've been a long time SMC follower I get up on sat morning to watch your show and I just shared this video with my brother he has been his club champ for a couple years now and he was impressed with this hack an we both are going to make a few different bait's to try this spring .thanks for sharing these with us loyal and faithful follower's you have helped me catch more fish for sure keep up the good work and good luck on your new tour decision best of luck 👍 YOU DA MANN.!!!🤗
Hey Scott . I'm in Western NC fish alot on lake Norman I have a question about lipless crank baits wat color would you recommend for the bite this time of year in colder weather ? thx in advance ..
Great video. Would love a series where you have underwater footage of several different lures and techniques with a split screen to show what you are doing with the rod. Great stuff!
Scott I fish everyday, your tips are the best man for real. I’m still watching your videos. Can’t wait to get back on the river an put it to the test. If you guys are still giving the fishing bait. Not trying to sound like a bum. I think that would be really awesome dude. Thanks for the tips an the help. “Find a bird, find a fish”
Love the videos Scott!!! I am currently deployed overseas and just bought my first boat at 43 years old!! So if you wanna come to Lake Murray after June and have a challenge with me and my son let's go!! Anyways good luck to you and B-Latt on the Opens!! Watching your videos help me pass the time in the middle east!!!
I’ve never seen a bait swim away from me like that and always wondered how to make it happen. Can’t wait until this Spring! Your three hack videos have me pumped up to fish like a new fisherman!
The beginning of this second video was perfect scott kudos on this one. A person can cut out a thin bit of the foam and fill the top of it with some 5 min epoxy alsonif they are worried about water logged foam.
Outstanding hack and video Scott! Been interested in doing something like this for awhile now, and seeing this vid, now know how to do it. The under water part totally sealed the deal! Ty
This is a great hack! I hate casting towards a point of cover just to have the plastic swim AWAY from it. Definitely going to try this, thanks for the video and sharing some of your tricks!
Scott that is a really cool option I have NEVER thought of one for the different action and second for the gliding away from you. This is how I WILL be fishing my crawls (GOOGANS of course) from now on. THANK YOU
Great old school technique. I have coring tools they used to sell made out of aluminum. And used to do that to worms and lizards. I would slice the bait. Core it insert lead. No tungsten back then. Then heat the 2 pieces back together. Thanks for sharing this. Can’t wait to see what else you have stored away.
Good idea Scott! New action and bait look is important in the water . The copper tube will cut better if you took a counter sink used to counter sink the holes of the airplanes aluminum skin. You can spin the counter sink by hand to give the copper tube a sharp front edge!! It will cut and clean out the rubber much easier. Good luck this year on the new tour!!!
Thank you for allowing us to see your secrets ... seeing that inspired me to look at baits different and try new things I fish all of the googan soft plastic and never thought they would do that.... thank you for the insight .. love the vids
Scrap copper electrical wire cut to lenghth and can also be a very affordable alternative to the tungsten weights. Just place a dab of crazy glue on it and insert it unto your favourite soft plastic for a nice slow sink bait. Can also use lead free silver solder on the roll also. 15 bucks can get a 1lb roll can cut to lengh and weight also.
I have shared this with my grandson and my two sons this gives you a lot to think about and is very awesome. Thanks Scott foe sharing this hack. Back atcha (👊)
This is a really cool way to change up the profile of the soft plastics. I'mgoing to give it a try this coming weekend at the lake. I also love all the googan baits. Ive bought from 1 up to 6 of every style bait googans have put out. From hard to soft baits. Love what y'all are doing and really enjoy watching and learning from your videos Scott Martin. I Hope one day I can make it pro and fish against you till then I'll just keep practicing and watching your videos.
I have been looking for that tool for awhile now. I used to have one with a red rubber handle I bought years ago. Thank you everyone I asked looked at me like i was crazy.
I have actually used the weight in the middle of the body trick, but I have always used nail weights. Just cuts out the extra step of using the copper to pull a plug out.
Awesome tip Scott, from a budget aspect might be better to rig it with lead weights. Looks like it's an easy way to lose the weight when the bass thrash and bait flys off. Thank you for a great video
Loving these hacks! Never would have thought to rig a craw like that for bed fishing. The ned craw will stand on that ned head with claws up but its a small hook and I’ve had bass throw the hook easy with it. This will be much better with a T-rig I bet.
Hey Scott I remember a lure from back in the day like 20 or 30 years ago call the flying lure. It wasn't around very long but it had a very unique drop that actually dropped going away from you very much like what you're talkin about doing with the soft Plastics. Don't know if you ever used one or even saw one but that's what they used to do they would actually take line out from you and go under docks or going to floating vegetation islands that kind of thing.
@@ScottMartinChallenge hey Scott not knocking your hacks just making a comment that there was a flying lure way back when that floated away from you rather than back towards you. I like your hacks and I'm going to use them. Keep up the good work! And sorry that you may have taken my words the wrong way.
Another awesome hack. Was wondering if crimping split shots near the back of the hook would get any results close to what your showing here? Great idea look forward to all your videos....
Thanks so much for the tip. This will definatly help me beat my pb of 7.5! Scott, do you ever go catch any huge brown trout? Just got a 3 pounder and ive seen people catch them up to 15 pounds in east TN. It would be awesome to see u do some fishing thats out of ur element. Tell brandon to keep up the awesome editing!
My PB largemouth , 10.8lbs was caught 1999 using an infomercial bait I bought called Flying Lure . Same gliding action but your hack is definitely more versatile with plastics of your choice whereas Flying Lure hooks could only be used with their lures . Great hack Scott thanks for sharing ! Al G. from southwest Louisiana , I will try this !!!
Thanks for the hack Scott! I want to try fishing the spawn this spring and this makes sense. I’ve also heard to drop shot a fluke from the tail with a nail weight in the nose during the spawn
If you want thin wall tubing, go to the hobby store that sells stuff for making your own RC airplanes. They have thin wall brass tubing in a bunch of sizes.
Great angle of attack on those soft plastics! I’ll absolutely have a pole rigged up like this in my boat! Also got my hat (same one you’re wearing) and donk shirt yesterday super quick shipping and the quality is superb!
When you said, "that's perfect, a perfect deal", I thought , "YES, no doubt about it, his dad really is Roland Martin"! Awesome hack. I spend about 90% of my time on the Upper Mississippi or St. Croix in Minnesota, (that almost makes you a heretic in the Land of 10,000 lakes) so I probably don't need to tell you I'm always trying to improve my crawdad presentation. Anything to help glide those craws under the wood will make me very happy. Tight lines!!
I live in Okeechobee an these tips are awesome. As soon as the specks thin out ill definitely be using some of these hacks! Thanks alot!! Maybe ill see you out there one day. I fish the north an East side of the lake mostly. Around Henry creek area alot.
I don't normally go for many of lure hacks but this one makes a lot of sense and it really looks great in action. The only thing is that it's kind of a lot work for what you get, and tungsten is a little on the expensive side to be losing when a fish takes my plastic or the plastic is lost in a snag. What about pushing a small nail weight into the same spot and breaking off what you don't want to use? Seems like it should get the same effect and it would be cheaper and easier to apply. Plus, you might get multiple applications out of a single nail weight because you're only using a third or half of it at a time.
