Man this song makes me wanna cry. Especially the acoustic version Chris played on Hot Sessions.. I know most of the comments on this song aren't recent, but for the people asking what the song is about-- it's about the US government forceably sending young innocent minds overseas, and using them as guinea pigs by giving them LSD tablets to keep them "awake and alert" on the front lines. These kids were tripping their balls off while running through the jungle, killing people and watching their friends get shot and gutted for an unjust cause. Vietnam stopped selling us their poppy crops and Nixon was a piece of shit that wanted to get and keep the people of this country hung on drugs. That's one of the reasons the opioid addiction in this country is so fucking bad... Most of the soldiers didn't want to fight after being dosed. Literally laid down their rifles and wandered into landmines and shit. Because the substance didn't affect these soldiers the way the gov't wanted it to, LSD is illegal as fuck... If you've already enlisted and let it slip that you have EVER tried LSD, you will be booted and be charged with a felony for lying to the government.
This hits he hard honestly :( I've grown up around a lot of family in the military who now have ptsd because of watching their friends die in front of them . My fiancé is in the military and I pray he never has to go through that it's so heart breaking :(
