My book has a very long name--Never Stop To Think...Do I Have A Place For This? and it's a philosophy shared by the personal style of 19 collectors captured in its pages! I hope you like it! warmest wishes, Mary Randolph Carter

Hi there, Ms. Carter! I've had your book 'American Junk' for YEARS and I still love looking through it for inspiration! It's like comfort food for my eyes! I will love getting your latest book, I just know it. I lived in VA for many years--Lynchburg, Hampton, Williamsburg, and Newport News! I love it but as a military wife I've been off and running all over the country :) Our last station was in Maine--a place I think you'd ADORE :) Anyway, I'm a huge fan of your style and I appreciate the work you do :)

As a teenager I came across American Junk in a public library, and a decade later when I was setting up my first apartment one of the images in that book still stuck in my memory - clear glass bottles lined up on the back of a toilet. I started my own bottle/jar collection and bought the book. Need to start expanding my collection of Mary Randolph Carter books now. :-)

It's a FANTASTIC book, one of my favourites of all time. I wish Lorraine Kirke would have contacted you before she began working on 'Would You Like to See the House'? I cannot understand at all why someone would give the 'OK' to such appalling, blurry photographs and agree to such a terrible layout. What a great missed opportunity that book is.

I love your books. Today's minimalist fashion is so empty & sterile.

The book was eye opening. I love the maximalist decor but can't handle too much stuff in my life so I'm currently becoming a minimalist in terms of home making, but not design ethic. I'm trying to keep my floor bare and adding color and texture and whimsy to my walls. Thanks. I occasionally watch those RU-vid videos about how to make your house look rich, and worry that people think there is only two ways to decorate: rich or tacky. Really, if you invest yourself into your home it will show.

Thank you sooo much! This is what I missed as a kid. Now, though my walls are lightly decorated, many of the objects, huge plants and tons of books around be are really nurturing and I feel home, at last. And I am not attached to objects, as I emptied my place several times and gave away so many things to those to whom they have become more useful than to me. A home is a reflection of our soul and wherever we are, that reflection manifests again. In China, I felt home, then I moved several times and gave away things. Each time, I was always “home”.

As I watched your video, I was nodding my head and saying "Yes, YES"! It is such a joy to connect with someone else like me, and I know there are many of us out there! I love seeing your pinterest boards, the article in Country Living, the video - and have several of your other books - I can't wait to get my hands on this new book .... just as soon as I get back from the World's Longest Roadside Sale next week :-)
