JB love the insights, here’s a question. You mentioned the power numbers this young riders are putting out. Just for perspective what are the current power numbers for the crew on The Move and Johans? What were their numbers when they were racing.

Sadly, for me at least (Huge freaking fan), the quote "I suppose a fire that burns that bright is not meant to last" never made so much sense as to when you look back to Peter's career

@@BMCS97 All I remember is he made a helluva lot of races really fun to watch. And don't forget, he won a lot even after they marked him ferociously.

So what? He competed against a peloton that was 98% nobodies who had no clue about training or nutrition. Cav has beaten all of the greatest sprinters over the past 16 years

He also won various types of stages, not just sprints. Both are amazing

hey come on, Cav wouldn't have got close to the record without him and as it stands Quick Step just weren't including a sprinting strategy in their plans, otherwise, you could have seen them including him. I think it was great that Lefevere was so happy and effusive towards Cav.

And some of the guys that took second to him never ended up winning a stage in the tour. Tyler Farrar took second to Mark four times. FOUR! And ended up winning one individual stage. Quite a career.

Yep, no doubt all Cav's sprinter competitors in this race were being "gentlemen" and he can count himself lucky to come across so many gentlemen during 165 pro victories.

To me it's not so surprising at all. During the sprint the drivetrain is under enormous stress. When the power cuts, the drivetrain "unloads", so to speak, so there's a jolt. Under the right circumstances, with the proper timing, this jolt makes the chain come off. Looks like Mark's style is perfect for this. That slight backpedal might also help. It's a known phenomenon in engineering. This also happened during Saturn V launch. When the first stage shut down, there was a powerful jolt forward. It's even shown in the Apollo 13 movie, albeit a bit inaccurately, for dramatic effect, of course.

He judged by the form of Cav so far, beeing sick few days ago. But Cav is an animal rides purely by instinct, today the stars and planets aligned foe him. When I soid the front camera after they took the right hand turn I started screaming, couldn’t believe my eye😂🎉
