Recently I travelled around Galicia and thought I would share some of my acquired wisdom of the area. If you want to know whether or not it’s worthwhile visiting Galicia, whether it does in fact, always rain, what Gallegos are like and whether the food is actually that big of a deal, make sure to watch this video.
All opinions shared and honest and true to my personal experience there.
Want to stay in touch, follow me on Instagram or twitter:

Marin - Coastal town in Rias Biaxas
Cabo de home walk - coastal lighthouse walk near Marin (Pontevedra) in Rias Biaxas that overlooks Cies Islands
Sil Canyons - My favourite but the most terrifying lookout point was called Mirador De Vilouxe
Monastery of Santa Cristina de Ribas de Sil - Oldest Monastery in Galicia
Ribadeo - Coastal town on the northern border with Asturias

More like Portugal's secret just like the Astúrias. They're just in spain's territory, they should be treated almost as different countries, states, because they are not spanish and they always fought not to be. That's just history but then again, the "winners" write history so I guess that's why only the real Iberians know this. Por alguma razão os Galegos e os Asturianos percebem-nos e querem perceber enquanto os espanhóis nem percebem "olá". :D

@@chefehenriques8392 Portugal is just part of Galicia. You were a county within the Kingdom of Galicia that broke away. That's the truth. Galicia used to encompass everything from about Porto northwards. Anyway, Galicia has been part of Spanish history for many centuries.

I really don't get those downvotes, since this is actually a super positive video about Galicia. I've never been there, alas. I'm from Northern Germany and I know several Galicians who came to my hometown area as guest workers in the 70s, when there was still rampant unemployment & rural poverty in Galicia and tourism was virtually nonexistent in this relatively remote part of Spain at the time. These people are indeed a super cool and likeable bunch!

I was already following your nice videos about Spain. But, for me, this is special because I'm a Galician who lives in A Coruña. It's realy lovely to see how you enjoy our land and your funny and clever opinions. It's a pity that there was mist when you visited the cliffs, the view is breathtaking. The small house you saw there is the ancient shelter for the watchmen who attend a beacon (like the beacons of Gondor in Lord of the Rings) that was part of a system of beacons all along the north coast of Galicia (to warn of sea attacks). At least you saw this shelter; next time, the views... ;) Thank you for this wonderful video about my land, and waiting for the upcoming...

Hi from Baixo Miño! Great video! I see you travel with your dogs! If you ever plan to visit Vigo, I recommend you to extend your visit to Porto as well. There're beautiful places between those two cities, and also a wonderful spot between Galicia and Portugal, the natural park Peneda-Gerês(Portugal)-Serra do Xurés (Galicia). It's beautiful, really close to Vigo or Porto, and perfect for a hike with the dogs. Also, the Galician side is Ourense, so if you go back to galicia through this mountains, you'll end up driving towards the hot springs area. My husband and I did it couple of times with our dog. From vigo to porto there's Nigran (gorgeous drive by the coast), Baiona (medival village, where Columbus arrived from America), Oia (monastery on the beach), a guarda (santa trega mountain with the Celtic Village and the views), o rosal (amazing wineries and mills in the river), tomiño (riverside walks, castles and bridge to Portugal), Tui (medieval village with a twin in the Portuguese side of river miño, also a bridge to Portugal), and then beautiful villages towards Portugal, like Vilanova de Cerveira, Caminha, viana do Castelo, Vila do Conde, Ponte de Lima, Barcelos, Braga. You can have breakfast in one, lunch in the next, etc, and get to porto beautifully. I apologise for such a long comment, but you can tell I'm in love with my little corner of Spain. I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Galicia; we'll love to have you back.

You described everything to the T while showing Galicia's beautiful nooks a crannies that gave the viewer enough time to listen to the descriptions while enjoying the gorgeous views! So glad you finally made it to Galicia. Sorry you found such a foggy day to see the cliffs, shame! I do agree with the size of the portions being bigger and more value for price than in other parts of Spain. Most Spaniards who have been to Galicia adknowledge the fact. Also I'm glad that you could sense the friendliness of Galicians contrary to the myth than they are just cold and reserved. Great video and work!

I believe so, unfortunately we had limited time to decided to focus on the coast this time. We had lunch in Ourense though and I definitely regret not spending time there. Apparently (so I'm told) the Argentinian ones do originate from the Galician ones, so yours have nothing to do with theirs, but theirs do to yours...if that makes sense 😂. @@ElyceBehrsin if you ever do get the chance to go back there (the name of the town is Cangas ^^) be sure to visit praia de Lagoelas (Lagoelas beach). It's a really cool secret beach no one knows about and, besides, it's dogfriendly. It's kind of hard to get there because you need to walk for, like, 15 to 20 minutes (there's no car access and, in fact, it is soooo hidden that not many people even in Cangas know about it), but it's totally worth it. Just google it and you'll know what I mean. And while you're there, check out a restaurant called Peralta, nearby. You won't regret it, trust me. And once you're done eating, there's this really cool castle in ruins called Castillo del conde de Aldán that you can go to just walking five minutes from that very restaurant. Also, I don't know how familiar you became with cruceiros while in Galicia, but, if you are into cruceiros at all, Cruceiro de Hío is the one you want to see, it's the most famous one in Galicia. Perhaps you did see it on your trip already, because it's reeeeally close to the only way there is to the lighthouse you liked ;) Again, love your videos!! XOXO

i remember i wrote here few weeks ago when you made a video about the north of Spain. I have seen that you have felt the difference between this two sides, north and south, it is completely different, north is more autenthic than the south, you realized that you can't find "flamenco shows" and "paella is not the first choice and even more, you can't find it" but you have discovered that the interior has is own appeal, and a really big one, is not fake like a tourist show for foreign people...this is real. I know that more people love sun, fiesta, alcohol and beach...you have the east and the south for it, but if you are looking for the real thing...you must go to the north and you will discover a a really new and diferent countrycountry. I glad to know that you enjoyed it.

Galicia has really a lot of beautiful natural places and very very good food, specially the seafood in the coast. I from Cedeira, a very beautiful town right down that cliff in "Serra da Capelada" (yeah it's the highest one in mainland Europe) and I'm really sad you couldn't see anything up there because the views are just amazing. Besides there are a really small place (like 50people live there) called San Andrés de Teixido, its a place of peregrination, I think the second most visited in Europe or Spain, and its beautiful too with a lot of legends and miths around it. And if you want the whole pack, near there, but with a risky way, down the cliffs its the only beach in the world made of black sand that's not volcanic formation(?) (de origen no volcánico). Obviously you have to visit my town too, Cedeira, its really beautiful with beautiful beaches and sigths all over the town, good food, best "percebes" and nice people. I hope you come back someday and don't miss Santiago again in your travel, no excuses for not visiting

I remember when I started to spend my summer holidays in Galicia with my parents, more than 20 years ago. Back in those days nobody likes go there in summer because of the weather, but we are from Extremadura and we enjoyed escaping from the heat for a fortnight. It`s disturbing how during these years the summers are getting warmer, less rainy and even in many houses are installing air conditioning when they didn´t need it before. Global warming it`s changing everything and I feel sorry when I see a massive amount of tourist invade what it used to be a hidden paradise.
