Not quite getting the bashing of the previous E-Tron? People raved about it, great interior with unmatched quality, soft/floaty ride, noise isolation, and amazing refinement. Performance being good enough on the 50, and really quite good on the 55. The only downside to the "old" E-Tron was the range, getting around 250 ish miles on the 55 and not being very efficient. Other than that it was a better deal than its competitors, especially from BMW and Tesla.
I have a 22 Etron 55 Sportback. I bought it used with just over 15k miles on it and saved 40% on new list. Has the 21 inch alloys, super sport seats and pan roof. Its beautifully built and comfortable. It also has tons of power and is quick to charge on the rare occasion I use public chargers. Also love the added security of the Quattro and matrix lights are brilliant. I was looking at a model Y but it just felt cheap compared to the Audi.
Just got an e-Tron 55 Launch Editon MY20/21 build, with all options ticked, brand new tires, Audi refurbed all 4 wheels, detailed the car, it has most add-ons possible from factory, apart from night camera, 31k miles on the clock for £35k on PCP £0 deposit, when new the list price was £91750k lol. Sold my EV6 to get it. I did drive the Q8 e-Tron as a loan car while my car was being preperaied, had it 1 week and seen arround 3 m/kwh out of it, roughly about 280 miles or so real range being semi careful, on par with the EV6 in rela world driving. The older eTron I got is doing only 230miles on its smaller 86kwh battery. The e-Tron car shift though! in boost mode it turns into a rocketship, when the e-Tron lowers in suspension in dynamic mode never gets old. You can get the new collapsible spare from Audi for older cars, I actually picked one up at a brokers cheap, fits in the old eTron fine. Audi giving the old cars away! due to Tesla price decreases they told me....
What made you get rid of the EV6? I'm deciding between the EV6, GV70 or E-Tron and I would think that the lower luxury interior feel of the EV6 would make me not consider it
😂I owned the original amd had digital mirrors. They were terrible in anything other than a clear blue sky. Useless in a multistorey car park, misty conditions, night time. The seats were like sitting on stone and the bolstering made for fat middle age men. I grew to loave this car. That's loave not love
Ye bonkers depreciation when technology advances as quickly as it does in the electric car world. Advances have been very minor for combustion engine cars so depreciation is more stable.
Yup, and that’s exactly what I did. At $58k for a Prestige model, this car (the previous version) is a great deal. It’s one of the smoothest driving and most luxurious EVs on the road, and for that price in particular. I test drove a BMW iX M50, and prefer the e-tron. Better steering. Far more intuitive controls, and far nicer looking. The 2019 hasn’t ages badly. It still looks great. And that’s the key. This is a bargain if you’re willing to get it 2nd hand.
@@t1328Hi have you had any reliability issues especially in Air suspension. I've been eyeing on a 2019 version at the moment but a bit scared about some technical issues.
We get around 2.7miles/KWh out of our Q8 etron 50 which gives us around 230 miles range. We've had it since mid May and are really pleased with it. Done just over 4,600 miles so far at average of 2.7miles/KWh.
The BMW iX or i7 are definitely better EVs than the Q8 e-tron, but they are so damn ugly that you could believe they are the result of a beaver raping a stranded whale on a nudist beach. Also, the Q8 e-tron feels like it is a bliss to drive, and definitely, the best of the ev SUVs there is when it comes to the driving experience. I really believe Audi has found the sweet Goldilocks spot with this e-tron, the Q8, not too much or too little of anything, except for how it looks which is outstanding, just like it has to be for us 50+ boomers. 😇
i do enjoy the presentational style, refreshing and different but I do think you need to add some context to the consumption. 1.8 miles per kW is poor but where, in the journey, did you see that range? When I switch the motors on, in my 55 etron it shows 0 miles per kW. Within 500 metres it is at 1 mile per kW, at around 2 miles, it is 1.8m per kW, after 20 miles or so it has averaged out to 2.5 miles per kW. On Saturday, I drove 346 miles on motorways, A and B roads and it returned 3 miles per kW. Over 53,000 miles, UK summer and winter, summer and winter tyres, on 21' rims, it has averaged 2.7 miles per kW. To say consumption is 1.8 miles per kw is misleading. BTW, the power was on in the car when you tried to get out of the rear - as shown by the rear climate screen being on. It takes two pulls on the handle to get out when the power is on, I believe it's a safety feature - the same applies to the front doors.
Even if you could forget the price I think it's just too big and not designed from the bottom up to be a 21st century electric car. BMW didn't get the looks quite right but they did make a decent car.
What price are you willing to pay for a car? That's what it boils down to really. Vehicles have got bigger and wider because people want this but our roads are not made for them!!!!
This should be wayyy better than the Q4, but it isn't. And the Q4 has just similar boot space and space in the back. Also the price, and the range should have been better.
My first time viewing this channel and the presenter has to be the most emotionless car reviewer I’ve ever seen. No personality and nothing but negatives for the car
Yes, indeed it’s a very boring car and it’s not understandable where Audi wants to go as sales in USA and China are not so convincing at all! They once claimed in German „Vorsprung dank Technik“. I only miss any advanced technology suitable for their claim as a brand. Something is going wrong and at that price there are better EV out there costing much less to get more.
But that's like comparing apples to pears. The GV60 is undoubtedly a terrific car and one of my favorites, but at 177.7 inches against The Q8 e-trons 193.5 inches it is 16 inches shorter and, hence a small SUV compared to the Q8 e-tron which is a medium-sized SUV.
Audi is a luxury, high performance and sporty car brand that is way more expensive high class than brookie genisis. It should be compared against bmw, Mercedes or Porsche. I own a audi etron 2022 $120k , bmw B8 2020 $100k and Porsche cayenne turbo gt 2024 $140k and I can confirm that the build quality in the audi is better than the B8, about the same as the Porsche.
No one really, pretty much everything is on finance these days. People only see the 900/month or whatever this will be. Then at the end of the 3 years hand it back. If it wasn't for finance, this car would have been 45k as otherwise they wouldn't have had any sales.
Great build quality and to be honest otherwise not efficient at all with an antiquated MMI system. Then you have to face the massive loss when you come to part-x it!
I just got leased a launch edition Q8 Etron priced around 100k. What else is there to get that's electric and doesn't drive like shit. Teslas drive like complete shit. I sold my rivian cause it drove like a stiff plastic pos, took off like your strapped to a rocket though. Mercedes is getting trash reviews all around for their EQ models. Q8 e-tron isn't the fastest but it's built like a fucking tank. Looks great. Drives like butter. Air suspension makes it pretty modular. Regen on it is perfect, does a great job reading the surroundings and adapting regen. I literally don't brake on the highway. Even when cutting up traffic, it's so intuitive it's redik. Plus I got 2 years free charging and drive around 50 miles a day. Don't even have l2 charger at home yet cause I'm rebuilding my house, free supercharging saving me 15 bucks a day. Rates are too high but whatever. It builds my credit. I just like leasing shit. Will probably lease the rs etron refresh after this lease is up.
Well, if it's the law, then I'll write here: great idea of a good BEV - but a bit too big for me and not exactly cheap (nevertheless, I enjoyed the test weekend recently, as a potential customer ... maybe, mmmhh, .. . rather not!)😇
@@alferro3149 What about Brexit would stipulate that Audi can no longer offer the comfort ventilated seats on a Q8 E-Tron in the UK yet they can in other markets? For example in the US they offer them as part of the prestige pack. I don't see Mercedes or BMW doing the same so why is Audi doing this?
It doesn’t really matter as it’s always crap weather in the U.K. so you don’t really need ventilated seats. If they started removing heated seats and steering wheels then I’d agree. In the US we also don’t get the camera mirrors, as they’re illegal here.
I wonder what the last full year of sales figures are for the old Etron? Clearly Tesla will be tops, as a manufacturer, but what about compared against its direct competition?
From memory globally slightly below the IX and some of the hyper luxury Chinese SUV's, but not embarrassingly so. I believe more than the Merc EV SUV's as well.
I like the witty reviews from this channel, but you all tend to mumble your words, especially towards the end of a statement. It makes it very difficult to understand everything you say and I don't always wear headphones to watch your videos.
My understanding is that most EVs still have a direct mechanical connection between pedal and brake. However, they may have electronic assist with that. When you brake in such an EV you are not involving Regen in any way. On the other hand, the Audi and BMW EVs use 'blended' braking which is controlled electronically. The brakes will first use regen to start slowing the car, but if that is not enough, then actual braking begins. I think this is the 'brake by wire' the reviewer refers to.
Audi have not sorted out packaging of ev with the new platform offers. So for the size of car the space for luggage and people is far from class leading. It is just big, but not as practical as smaller cars.
@@tomooo2637 I’m 6’3 and when I was driven in it I found it so spacious and comfortable, close to perfection. EV platform or not, it’s a great car. For your information, I found the I Pace less comfortable and more cramped.
I’m not sure “perfectly adequate” is what Audi were going for. Certainly it’s not what comes to mind when I think of the ICE Q8 with its amazing aggressive styling, this feels like a downgrade and the exterior looks like a Vauxhall.
Quite a good looking Sport Utility Vehicle!! But I’m sorry to say that it isn’t quite what I want out of a vehicle!! A double bed in the boot would make it more the type of vehicle I’m aiming for!!
@@tomooo2637 i guess you can come with some examples then. Most does not have enough space in the "basemant". Example ID4, ID5, ID3, ID7, Q4 etron, Enyaq, BYD tANG, BYD HAN, None of the Nios +++ I dont even think model Y have room for it without putting it vertical.
An obscene amount of money for transportation. How people can afford this (or want to spend so much money) when everything else in life has gone through the roof is beyond me. The winners in the electric car market will be those who offer similar size, range and comfort at half the price of something like this - the Koreans seem to be doing just that.
I've averaged 2.7 m per kW in my etron 55 over 52,000 miles. 1.8 m/kW is not representative of my experience. I drive at the legal speed limit on 21" tyres. After starting the car, it says 1m per kW and increases as you drive. I usually get 1.8m/kW after about .5 of a mile at the start of the journey, increasing from that point on. On Tuesday, this week, I drove from London to Manchester, 205 miles, mostly at motorway speeds and some country lanes and city traffic, I got 3.2 m/kW. Don't believe everything you see/hear on youtube.
@@philhartley7551 thanks for the insight Phil. It's difficult to be objective on efficiency without a video like the motorway comparison with multiple evs all at the same speeds. 2.7 seems reasonable for a car of this size
@@Stewiedude1 The car is on my drive right now, at 74% charge and 197 miles range. That's a range of 266 miles on 100% and the Audi Gom is very accurate. It is a very popular EV despite what the short term reviewers say about range - don't get me started on charging speeds lol
I averaged 4.5 mi/kwh around Surrey over last 4 weeks on a rented 2019 version with 19 inch wheels. I always drive in D and coast till the car stops. On B roads and motorways I could get as much as 3.5 mi/kwh but sometimes when efficiency isn't a priority I get 2.8 mi/kwh. It's the sheer comfort and the isolation and of course the space this car offers. I'm in torn between this and it's little brother Q4 e tron
Cleverly adapting = changing your preferences? I don't Think So! If I set regen to full, I'd like it to stay set there. But you go ahead and pay some moron 100k to make you keep pushing the same button again and again.
you don't need to keep pressing any button. Most of the regen comes from using the brakes in normal driving (better regen than the paddles)and only when you brake vigorously (presumably out of necessity) do the friction brakes operate.
Ummm …… over £100k for a performance model (and it will be well over - no Audi is ever sold without a lot of options). Tesla Model Y performance blows this away at almost £40k cheaper with pretty much the same space. Model X destroys it. BMW/Merc offerings too. This is just so far behind other luxury EV’s it’s laughable.
These cars look sooo bland and boring.. and for that pricing I would expect something fancy. Once you have seen one, you have seen them all. Cannot tell them apart.
