Hera talking about what he's doing, building 4 Castles in like 2 minutes, booming his eco, explaining his late game, keeping calm as they come and here I am focusing like crazy and yet screwing up left and right beyond mid-Castle 11
Hey Hera! I started ranked lately (9 days ago) I finished the provisional(?) at 810 elo with 33% winrate. I was very unhappy with it, so I rewatched your tutorials, analised my losses, and watched how you play. Now I am at 1014 elo with 60% winrate. Thank you so much! You are the best! ❤❤
Something that helps me in my dark age is having a time in my BO for lure deer. If I find it very early, I immediately lure one while sending the first lumberjacks so that gives me time to lure a second one while my foragers are being sent to the berries. If the deers are far away, I lure one right after killing my first boar and maybe, if there is time to, I lure right after the second boar. NEVER lure while taking the boar to avoid disasters like losing a vill to it or getting housed.
really loving the videos lately and your commitment to both playing really well in tourney (congratz on NAC4) and the awesome content. you are killing it lately. Appreciate it bro
Hi Hera, i just finished watching all your video guides and i have to thank you for such an incredible tutorial, i had a totally wrong perspective of the game since i only played aoe 2 as a kid vs ia or vs friends but no one never played ranked or something, after you figured out that a big tower wall does not protect you from everything (like ia games) the game changes a lot and now i have more under understanding about things that i didn't even care about or even knew they existed. Thanks to you i succeded in win my very first ranked games without any panic plays! Sending a big hug to you from Arg!
Always hyped to see more content drop, keep em coming ! Also any chance we might see more of your "ultimate guide to x civ" series ? Love those, although I imagine they take a while to make
I love these guides so much, I really can't explain why lol. I feel like it passively boosts my ELO from 1000 to 1001, 1002, 1003. Much love from Perú, Hera.
Thanks for the video bro! Watching this video I managed to reach 1200, it made me realize that using a good strategy and having a good economy is stronger than the micro, I just played a game against a 1200 and the difference I made in the game is a lot, without realizing it I was already in Imperial, 200 pop and with the perfect composition to counter my opponent, And it's like you say. After that, the game was over in less than 5 minutes.
This series is the best aoe2 content out there for beginers and advances players alike. Period! Props to Hera for wanting to share his secrets even to the highest level of competitive play further down this series. Despite that being total madness as it could cost him tournament wins in the future, he is willing to risk it in order to further push the limit of peak aoe2. That´s a true winners mindset if you ask me. As a 1200 who managed to drop down to 1000 quite consistently I can not wait to nerd out watching the highest elo episodes.
To prevent wrecking unsuspecting opponents and possibly demoralizing them, maybe you could consider playing against your subscribers who are at the right elo for the video... having said that, these videos offer a wealth of information and are priceless
If they know it’s Hera, they won’t be surprised they lost. If they don’t know it’s Hera, they won’t be any more demoralised than the usual ranked ladder depression
this was a great guide Hera. I think though since you are still in your placement matches your opponents are not really at the level of the elo you are going for here. A 1200-1300 does not make trade carts in a 1v1
Dont go deer if it will ruin your dark age he says.. Proceeds to do it anyway so I do it as well next game. Lost villager to boar, killed boar with TC had a 2min later feudal when I got scout rushed and killed
I hated it when he didn't go into your base with his scouts in Feudal when you delibarately left bottom part of your base open for a minute or so. I wanted to see what to do in that situation because sometimes there's an invisible hole in my walls and I don't know what to do when enemy scouts rush in through that hole. Can you tell me how you were going to defend if he went in there? @Hera
@@terryliu9015 yes but he wasn't using quick walls for this elo range, so I wanted to see dealing with that without getting too much idle time and without quick walls
Hera, I've been having this thought of a strat and I want your opinion on it. If you're turks, could it be worth it to intentionally run under your opponents TC with your tanky scout and kill as many sheep as you can? How many sheep would you have to kill for it to be worth it? My thought is, the whole issue with turks on open maps is that they have no early eco bonus. Maybe your eco bonus could just be to thoroughly screw up your opponents eco?
Someone in chat said maybe you're playing at 14xx. That's the point! Showing what you need to do to win and improve at a certain level requires playing slightly above that level.
Hera I learned your streatgy but i still stick on 900 elo, a lot of ppl they play thousands games at this elo, they play very professional, they use 3 man at arms, all strategies, you mind to give a tip how to defend them
As much as i love this video, your thoghts and the banter in the end, as a teacher I have to say this wont help all that much for players who are actually in that elo range. There is just way to much info; learning is about training small stuff in isolation and connecting the dots later on, not having everything served at once.
This comment isn't about this video, but a piece of general advice for your channel: don't sleep on the Shorts format. The last Short you did was a year ago from AoE 4, and you haven't made any since then that I can determine. Make more shorts, they can be like 30-60s stuff you take from content you've already made, but condensed for the Shorts format. It'll help your channel grow a lot faster. For example, if you made a Short from this 30 min video, you'd summarize the key talking points, and this is important: a lot of people watching Shorts are doing it on their phone, right? So make sure you put big, easy-to-read subtitles overlaying the video. A lot of people browsing their phone may not necessarily be in a situation where they can listen as well, so those subtitles will allow those folks to experience your content without missing anything.
Why does the opponent in these vids always seem much lower elo that the title says? They don't seem to pressure early, castle drop quickly or do anything I see at 1000 elo, let alone 1200.
