New 2024 BMW R12 & NineT Full Walkaround & Specs! 

I'm celebrating a $32k stock portfolio today. I started this journey with $4000 have invested on time and also with the right tearn now have time for my family and the life ahead of me

R12 looks cool and will hopefully appeal yo the cruiser intenders. The R9T is still my favourite retro and prefer the look of existing model.

I dunno, ride modes called "rock" and "roll" sound like an overdose of Americana cheese to me.....

in this day and age everything should have a tachometer.

I'm not a cruiser fan but That R12 is one of the best looking cruisers I've seen

italians are allready building tiny bikes ... germans should think of more than 6 feet drivers ... we want a 9T scrambler for tall people !

I also think the older R9T was better looking. That new R12 looks really sharp from the video, gives me vibes of my Moto Guzzi Griso. Too bad they down tuned it, but maybe once tuners get at it, hopefully a flash will give it the full beans.

That R12 looks really appealing. Can’t wait to see it in the flesh. I hope it’s ground clearance in corners though is much improved on the R18

Not in my price range, plus I´m addicted to Moto Guzzi BUT these bikes look fabulous

I love the R12! Since I lost my beloved R1200C in an accident in 2022 and even before I was hoping for a newer and lighter cruiser from BMW and it appears that the R12 is it. I’m really excited and I just hope it will fit me just was well as the R1200C , which felt like Taylor made for me. Both Variants look great, I think. Finally, thank you for making these great Videos, they are very helpful and nice to watch.

These just look all wrong in person. I looked hard at them but that motor just looks odd in a retro bike. Sorry but the Bonneville is the perfect design retro bike.

i am more drawn towards the older R9T but neverthess the new R129T also looks fab...

BMW continues to neglect the R1250R model, yet, it's one of their best bikes.

I think I prefer the old R nineT style but it had a good run, I guess it was due a change. I do like the R12 although it’s not really my thing. The price differential is hard to justify but even the old nineT was more expensive than the R1250R which on paper beats it hands down. Go figure ! The BMW video called the bike with a bikini fairing a “Racer” so expect more variants in the future although I’ll be sticking with my old R nineT Racer 🇬🇧

Ummm, The NineT oil cooled BMWs were always good looking, but what were they thinking with the R12? The R18 was also a looker, but the R12 is neither a muscle cruiser nor a retro, a bit of dogs breakfast from the photos. Raiding the Harley catalogue for a rear mudguard does not a good looking cruiser make and cruisers more than any other type of bike need to look good. Maybe it looks better in the flesh? I'm a cruiser fan and also love the boxer twin engine, but I'm very disappointed by their styling efforts with the R12. The weirdo R1200C at least had a style all of its own.

If these boxer engines are your thing great but I hate everything about this look. It is like going to the club and searching for the fattest girl and leaving at 9pm

The best boxer engine ever - the 1200 twincam aircooled. Bring back a R1200GS air cooled with basic ABS as an alternative to the finicky 1300cc LC!

12k and 14k... suddenly a 2nd hand MT-09 SP or 890r are going to be even better deals.

Being an R9T owner, not impressed with the R12 9T. The regular R12 is fine but like the R18 it won't sell well.

Yeah, the same engine, same gearbox, same technology, less power sold more money what’s not to like

Issue is that this is still the old Oil Head engine that was in the GS's 2009-2012 and is unchanged. Also has a dry clutch that is positioned at the back of the engine. Any service on that clutch means breaking the bike in half.

I've had two R nine Ts. Was looking forward to the updated nine T. But Meh. the design is fine but but has lost its wow factor.

I saw that r12 cruiser today at the NEC bike show and in my opinion, was the hands down bike of the show for me, as shown here it looked incredible in the flesh.

BMW has lost its mind with the naming. R12 Nine T ... .Reallly BMW? R Nine T was already a pretty ridiculous name, even R9T would make so much more sense. but now its R12 Nine T. Is it a 12 or a 9? Make up your mind BMW. It should've been R12T.

Does the new r12ninet come with a fuel gauge this time? It’s a lovely looking bike and I would have considered one but when you have added a few extras to r12ninet you are looking close to 16k, out of my price.

I prefer the old tank

I find the naked bike riding position more commanding because I have weight on the front wheel and can put weight on my arms. Cruisers may have the "commanding" attitude but steering them is like using a tiller.

Yeah.......gold forks are still hideous.

R9T owner... I'm not getting instant thoughts of "must upgrade" with the new model Edit: although I may sit on the R12 out of curiosity

I owned an older version when they were first released.. I think the new versions look much nicer well done BMW. It's a shame they changed lowered the power so much on the other version. Pete

Really like the swing arm on the green tank model. Having had 2 Boxers I’d go for the 109 hp.

I like the new Nine T .... especially in the green color scheme. Three questions: 1) Does the optional digital dash include a fuel level gauge, 2) Is the optional bikini fairing available in the green color, and 3) Is an optional center stand available this year? Thanks. Nice reporting.

I am also surprised by how much I like that R12. Can’t wait to sit on one and see how comfy those ergonomics are. It looks amazing. I’m also surprised how much I like the look of that small digital gauge.

I’m totally not a cruiser person as I have older Italian sports bikes but the cruiser is a very elegant bike.

Did they finally add a bloody gas gauge ?

New r9t all day. So much cleaner looking than the outgoing model. Airbox (and I assume) battery in a sensible location. This is a worthy successor. Green, analog gauges and tubeless spoked wheels please (if a suitcase of Franklins was left on my doorstep).

Finally a seat height I can ride! Can’t wait to test ride it 👍🏻

I really like the R12. When I was looking for a new bike two years ago (I bought a Moto Guzzi V7 Special) I looked at the R nineT but I didn't like the rear modern sport bike styling. I would have bought the new R12 with its more traditional styling and rear fender.

That may be the best all-rounder motorcycle ever. Great power and torque from a reliable motor and now with USD forks. It looks so friggin cool! Especially the all aluminium and red frame of the 719. Solo seat conversion is wicked and I'd opt for the larger fairing instead of the fly screen. I'll have my saddle in a dark brown tan please! Wow! I'm torn between this and the Tiger 900 GT Pro. I know they have different purposes but a guy can dream... As per usual, great reporting!

Here in PT the price for the new nineT starts now on 19.2k€. as the other "lower" versions will be descontinued... THis thing will tank. at least for now...

My preference is the R12 NineT. I love the Option 719 paint Job but cannot bring myself (Read: My wife would have my nuts!) to pay 2100 quids for it. Instead, i am convincing meself that the green paint option is the most "retro looking" of all 3 options. I am totally on the market for a café racer in 2024, it was my generation. Now, how do i sell that to the wife! Bob, i need help! Cheers Mate!

Good summary. Its always a concern when the media photos show young women on motorbikes.......you know the bikes are too small then. As a normal sized bloke, over 6', all modern bike seem too small for us now. Although the Japanese perfected the art of media, when they use to put average Japanese blokes on CB750s and Z1, and the bikes looked Huge. I always remember as a kid, watching a young lady roll up to the lights on her new Z1, with tight jean, ponytail, your early 70s chick, and proceeded to lean the bike over a little to stand on one tippy toe, as she carefully balanced the big bike. Ah the good old days. So Motobob, how about a recommendation on modern Big bikes for Big fellas. I find the Harleys, Indians, cruisers all too small, with low seats. Im selling my restored '71 754/4, and 74 T150 Trident, because I saw a photo of myself riding them and I look like a Gorilla, riding a 250! 😄

A re designed bike for 2024 from just over £14.000 to over £16.500 and no fuel gauge!!!! Who at BMW thought in 2024 no fuel gauge is a good idea? A deal breaker for many and a brainless decision.

Analog speedo and Rev counter every day on Classic Bikes Rolex DON'T make digital watches. Digital clocks on motorcycles is a Cheap Trick . Rider modes are also a cheap trick on classic. Rider Modes are in your right hand. R12 is the Best bike lve seen in a very long time and the price fits the bike. R 12 Absolutely Beautiful 😍

R12 NieT looks good, but to get what you want with 719 options youre into the 18Ks, and at that price how can you justify it when you can get all the tech in an base s1000r/rr? You cant, therefore the only way im buying one is used, BMWs pricing here is way off.

BMW R12 could have taken some design cues from Triumph Bobber, esp. with their rear fender and solo seat. The rear fender on this R12 is ugly. The R9T scrambler tank looks better too. 👍

Didn't expect to see that what I saw but even my wife laughed... The bike itself is very nice after so many years being ugly. But, the engine could be the new 1300...

That cruiser could be stretched out a bit bit elongating and increasing the seat a bit. Might make it a better cruiser

The ugliest looking bike seen for years. Just the rear fender🤮 Looks like it’s been assembled from scrap in some US backyard chopper garage. The badge on the tank does not do it justice ☝️

Good review, you have just confirmed my desire to stay with the 2014 - 2023 models. Smaller tank, less horsepower, lower riding position and poor indicator design. You’ve saved me 15k 👍

They reduced the horsepower by 10 and have the same torque curve? yeah its gonna increase the price of the old one in the after market and nothing else. New riders with A2 license wont be looking at expensive bike to start riding with anyway

Not a good motorycle at all, Will never buy this. The heritage has lost all it's look. 100 years R9t model is the best which should always be on sale. It would have been the best seller if it would have been on sale for longer terms and not for like a month.

I would love to know if they added a fuel gauge! I am leaning more towards a Triumph Bonneville T120

they did same mistake as with R1300GS - they took the distinctive character away from these bikes,, pity

I feel a bit like this bike’s time has been and gone. It’s been out for nearly 10 years, much of the bike is identical, using very old engine technology, tarted up with some flashy parts and incongruously much more modern elements like SOS and a digital dash. List price means nothing with a BMW, so spec’ed up it is also expensive, without really justifying that high price. I rode an original RT a few years ago. It felt loose, a bit slow and farty with the old oil head engine, and absolutely a bone shaker with terrible suspension. I hope it’s improved!

The R12nineT looks so bland an generic compared to the RnineT, especially without the air intake

Nice tank, seat design, but the wheel tailight and fairing is common. The Kawasaki does it better.

not a good looking as r18, r90s or ninet... even though I've been waiting for this. Maybe I'd wait for the R12 urban gs or something
