The Desert X has to be the best looking ADV-bike in the last 20 years! Too bad it's so freakishly expensive to buy and maintain...

I agree 100%. They are overreaching. I guess they hope that there enough buyers with deep pockets who will be willing to pay the super premium price for the number of units they plan to sell. Obviously, if Ducati was interested in making and selling many of these to dealers they would not be priced as such.

Tubed tyres are preferred for off road because you can run lower pressure in the tyre without worry of leakage from the bead on the rim, esp when tackling rocky or sandy terrain. Very little to do with patching the inner tube....

Looks great. I love my desert x. It reminds me of all the good things about my Elefant, without the minuses.. I don't want a rally edition, but I'm happy it's available. My DX has been great for gravel, commuting, two up weekends, and running errands. It suits me well.

I was looking heavily at the bike, but never even test rode one. I live in an area that is super dusty, and I blow out, knock out or shake out the air filter after each ride, and replace it every 3 months on my adv bikes currently, and my mx/trail bikes in the past. Learning that the DesertX has its airfilter directly under the fuel tank was a deal breaker for me. Now, if I lived in a different climate, or spent 70% of my miles on road, I'd consider the DesertX. It's just frustrating that manufacturers build an offroad motorcycle with so many street bike build philosophies. I liken the hidden air filters to this.....imagine if motorcycle manufacturers would start burying the access to the chain under a bunch of panels and whatnot. How would you service the chain efficiently? You wouldn't. You'd have to completely disassemble a bunch of plastic pieces to do simple chain service. Same goes for the bikes with hidden air filters. It's hogwash. Now, if the Ducati was more road biased, like a Multistrada, I can accept a hidden airfilter, but to hide a part that needs serviced so often on a dirt biased motorcycle is unacceptable. Other manufacturers have made their airfilters accessible on their offroad branded machines, and Ducati 'could' too. If they wanted to....but they don't, and we have to ask ourselves, why? Is it laziness in the R&D sector? Is it that they have never made a bike with an under the seat airfilter and they don't know how? Or is it that Ducati purposely has done it in order for the customer to be 'forced' to bring the bike in for an expensive service? I've heard Ducati is very strict with their warranty and service guidelines. Many people feel they've done it on purpose.

I find it interesting that many people think this is crazy expensive when here in Western US a 4x4 truck these days is double to triple or more and many (most) people don't "need" a truck yet think nothing of buying one. It's one of the best bikes in it's class out there. You pay for what you get. This bike is gorgeous and on my "next bike" radar for sure. Sort of a side note, I bought a Tuareg 660 despite all the negative chatter about Italian bikes and it is brilliant. First non japanese bike of my life (I bought my first bike in "78, XL125) and I absolutely love it. Italy designs some fine machines.

Absolutely wonderful! One of the best, at least theoretically, ADV bikes on the market (not yet though). The price is high, but considering the exceptional components, maybe it's not. Let's see the competitors, KTM, BMW, and so on. As usual, only rich people can afford bikes like this one. In my case, I can just following the videos about, maybe in another life... thanks for the video MotoBob!

This reminds me of the early 90s Ducati/Cagiva e900 unfortunately the E 900 was misunderstood and not many people were interested in desert off-road riding at that time. The DesertX is coming in at a great time. where BMW KTM and Triumph I have put some good bikes together but nothing with the motor and suspension goodies. Going with the plastic covers and sticker graphics. Like motocross bikes will help the owners fix scratches quicker and easier. I think there in the future this bike may end up being a favorite of people that like to do the BDR off-road routes. I just hope that Ducati can keep up the part supply chain!!

Love the off road capabilities. I think it’s the best looking adventure bike. Nail in the coffin to buying a 2024 Africa Twin Adventure Sport as I refuse to ride a DCT and 19inch front tire….and less suspension travel. DesertX 100% for off road trips. I have my 2019 Vstrom 1000abs for highway trips.

Nice. How much is crash protection, heated grips, are all the tech features available or do you have to buy them after a month's demo? Also does it have the extra fuel tank option. That looks cool and wonder how much that is? How does the new suspension compare to something like the KTM 890R which it might be aiming at? Great bike if it is really up for it and the add-ons don't add up to another $Xk.

I cutrently own a 2023 RR22 desert X its a good bike, needs a tweak here and there to take the offroad stuff well and it rides well offroad and onroad , this rally version is way too exspensive , granted its got better wheels and suspension the ohlins steering damper is nice but cmon id think twice about taking it offroad by the time you spec it up with the extras like the crash bars , termi exhaust and remap to wake the engine up , some bark busters !! You be looking at £21500 , if you want heated grips and the turn by turn thats another £530 !! The aux fuel tank is £1300 . The rear racks from ducati are stupid money at £800 odd !! I got outback motortek pannier racks on mine for £250 quid and they rock solid ! That bike going to be a starbucks acessorie bike for the majority of the buyers for the rally desert x 😂😂 we need a new honda xr650r with electric start and a 6 speed gearbox and that would kill everything off for riding long distance offroad

They faster than the 890r but offroad the 890r is a better , for onroad and everyday use the desert x is alot better, now this myth of cost of maintenence is comical they no more exspensive than a Japanese bike to service with the dealer, they easy to work on and I can change the filter in 20 mins lol ,, should should never change a filter on the trail as you should be running pre filters unless you in Australia and doing 10000kms which most people don't do lol , it's a 29 minute job and all you need a Allen head bit 😅😅 you ever changed a air filter on a sports bike ? It's near identical to swap the filter out and where the air filter is meant you can go through deep water unlike a ktm 890 adventure that will drown at the bottom of the seat in water 😅

I’d consider myself a low-intermediate rider, most people I ride with are much more talented riders than I am and things I find simple on my T7 presented more of a challenge for them on the Ducati. A quick example would be wheelies over obstacles on low traction surfaces, the length/width/power of the DX made it noticeably more challenging to hook up and loft the front up and over things. Loose sandy hills was another, they’d consistently have a challenge keeping the power consistent enough to not spin the rear and dump all the momentum.

What you get for your money compared to Ducati! Simply fantastic, German quality, superior comfort, character engine, just everything I expect from a motorcycle. And now you have the new BMW F900 gs for €8000 less! 🙌

Nice but for a semi retro big 'off roader' the Triumph Scrambler 1200X looks better. This Rally Desert X must be a pure image machine

i hate how it looks, but 250mm of travel in new adv bike is basically unheard of, itd be very interesting to know hows the tune on that suspension, it have potential to be amazing. Personally would never buy it though, terrible overkil look, and bike as whole screams overkill, high fender on adv bike is also a big no-no, and not just because it looks ridiculous ;

That's alot that's why I wont be changing my 2023 desert x for this new one as bike prices are getting silly , you paying 10k-11k for a new ktm 300 enduro 😂

I own a sled..like the retro look..lots of people compliment. the 24 x looks too aggressive. overkill on ducati pica. for the price..fix the wind screen so it's adjustable. nicer can..so ugly on bike. did you borrow the seat from Honda AF. hate the look. make front fender adjustable, u know y. we aren't always in the mud. maybe I buy ..

tubes are nonsense and make no sense. seems like hardcore riders don't run tubes. i bet you they're not running tubes in the promo video.

You can drop the tyre pressure with tubes and not worry you going to pop the bead off

@@Rust_valley_racing, then i get pinch flats. on heavier bikes like this, one won't drop tire much below 30 psi with tubes. at 25 psi, one will get pinch flats all the time, unless she rides real slow. with tubeless, i quickly plug it. i only run tubliss and tubeless. if one rides hard, he's running tubeless or mousse. uhd tubes adversely affect bike and suspension and i still get pinch flats with uhd. how pros run tubes? i bet none

lost me with tubed tyres,, why would they, a plug lasts for a long time, i have a 950 enduro and a cf moto mt 800, both tubeless , thats what tubeless was invented for, i dont know anyone who would prefer tubed tyres
